Good morning, Moovers! Happy Saturday!

Got up at the crack of 9am today, which is unusual for me on a weekend. I was brushing my teeth when the phone rang, and it was DS. So I ran to the phone with my mouth full of toothpaste  Anyway, he was bummed he didn't get the job assignment he wanted for the last 6 weeks of training. He wanted th one that is in charge of finding out the morale of the troops, and whatever else. He said the Captain picked two people, one of which supposedly was not very empathetic. He (DS) said, "It's like picking YOU for the job, know what I mean?" :lmao: It's true, I am not a warm, fuzzy people person. Then the captain made the choice by having those 2 guys do "rock, paper, scissors"!

Anyway, he got an assignment as "asst historian", which he was not happy about. Plus 4 other jobs: Academics leader, something with writing briefs, Dorm captain (I think) and something else. Anyway, he was grumpy.
DH might have done a better job cheering him up, but he iis MIA. I am guessing having breakfast with his Dad. (Yep, he just returned my call).

No word from DD so far. She might have called before I woke up. (well, I just thought to check the missed calls list, nope!) She was going call from the hotel when she got there, which would have been around 8am German time, and it is now almost 6pm there! Geez, this could get to be a long month!

Mony, I saw you posting on the Peeps thread (I admit I lurk there) about maybe catching the Twilight movie on a Sunday in December. If it's in the afternoon, I might just join you popcorn::

OK, I am off to do some work for budgets today, since I was less than diligent in doing it during the week.

GOOD MORNING (AFTERNOON)!

I read and caught up this morning but didn't post. Duh.

Last day of VBS was anti-climactic.

I laid in bed all last evening with a sore throat and runny nose. I blame the booger. I stopped on the way home from work and picked up some Cold-Eez. I'm feeling a bit better today.

Sorry I didn't make chat. It's been a while.

Emily had 3 girls over to spend the night and now they're bugging me to take them somewhere. UGGGGG!

Lynette....Book now. 'Splain later.

PJ.....Hope you did as well on today's test as you did on the first one! At least you're not sick this time. I really expect something in the 99th percentile. ;)

Marita....I slept in today....7:45.

EVERBODY
.....:wave2:

HAVE A GREAT SATURDAY!

Hey there, Moovers! :wave2:

Just wanted to pop in and say hi. Hope you are all doing well. I have not been DISing much for a while now. Lots of changes around these parts.

Yesterday was our last day of school. WOO HOOOO!! Now I'm free! I'm thrilled to have all this extra time to spend with the girls.

Hope everyone is having a great summer so far!

toot - I love your avatar! the pic of you and the tarantula is pretty cool too!

sending good luck vibes to pj, but she should be done by now since it's almost 2 EST.

glad y'all had fun in chat.

marita - STOP WORRYING! Or get some valium one!

I'm off to the library.
My brother is allegedly paying me the money he owes me, so I'm going to treat myself to starbucks (2.60) and buy some sorbet at the grocery.

I slept too long! I slept for like 14 hours! geez!

Hi, Bonnie, nice to see your around these parts again,

I agree with Celery, cool pic and avatar!

The phone just rang. Caller ID said from 1-000-000-0000

I am guessing it was DD, but noboby on the other end !!!!!!!!!:worried:

Enjoy your Starbucks, Cel!

I am trying to work, but I am not being very efficient today...

Good Morning Moovers.

I slept in...which for me means till whenever I get up. This morning it happened to be till 11 and that is when I grabbed my phone to check the time and dropped it between the bedframe and the wall. :headache:

So that meant I had to get up and find it. Now I am tired...I think I have done enough work for today. Back to bed for me.

Hee hee! ITA. There's no need of ramping up the anxiety level on the actual trip when you can just do a dry run beforehand. I'm angst-ridden enough, people!

Yes, at first I thought it was odd, but then I remembered that you are a Peej, so you don't necessarily do things the conventional way. :rolleyes1
I prefer the term "full of energy." The whole angst-ridden thing really just doesn't paint us a in a good light.

You meant that as a good thing, right? RIGHT?????

:lmao: well I just thought PJ was special is why she gets to take the test in Fl.

BTW PJ : we had a great mini dis meet... that Beef Obrady's is a nice sports bar resturant ....TV's everywhere...happy hour prices 50 cent wings 99 cent draft beers from 3 pm to 6 pm...I got there early at 315 pm... waiting on Mickey he had sum catchin up to do.....lol
Wings and beer...sign me up!!! Okay, so those are 2 things I would never consume, you caught me. Still sounds like a nice meet. And I am special, but not too special if ya know what I mean. ;)

Wishing good luck to Peej today.
Thanks for thinking of me this morning, Monica! :) The test was pretty easy. I bet I passed it. I do hate the 4 weeks of waiting to find out, though. The only thing I should have brushed up on was my Social Studies. Quick, someone, how does a bill become a law??

I just had to stand up and look into the middle living room and the kitchen area to see where everyone was.....it was toooooo quiet...I love these kids ....and will miss them when they are gone....I love chaos.....ROFL.
If you're in the market for chaos, I hear they have some in mamacantfindya. I bet I could hook ya up. :cool2:

"It's like picking YOU for the job, know what I mean?"
Sorry to hear that DS didn't get the job he wanted but this made me giggle.
10.gif
I hope he ends up liking his job more than he would have expected.

PJ.....Hope you did as well on today's test as you did on the first one! At least you're not sick this time. I really expect something in the 99th percentile. ;)
Goog memory, I'm impressed!! I am a freakin genius, afterall, so I am aiming for a smooth 100%. :snooty: Feel better!

sending good luck vibes to pj, but she should be done by now since it's almost 2 EST.
Correct. Thanks for the luck, though. I played travel agent when I got home from the test this morning, and then I took a nap. Now it's off to Chef Mickey's with me. Dinner tonight better be good because I'm not cooking before I leave.

Okay. Bye, y'all.
:grouphug:

1. I'll buy that. Full of energy. Yeah, that's it.

2. Uhm.....yes? :bitelip:

Maybe they give people assignments that are challenging to build character. Just a thought. And meeting up for a movie works for me.

What did we buy at the neighborhood sub sale:

Mal: Jasmin and Aladin "Barbies" that are now nekkid and on the floor under the kitchen table, and a sponge bob juice cup with a built in straw. And along the way she got stung by a bee. Free of charge.

Matt: Candy and a Sombrero, red.

Zack: a neon lighted palm tree that he broke while enroute home, a ceramic bird in flight, that's "really cool", a necklace, a glass fish, and candy.

Tim: Nuthin'

Me: found paper plates for 1.00 and some girly shavers, a 6 pack for 2.00

Came home and made homemade broccoli soup.

I wont be around tomorrow b/c not only is it Father's Day it is also my anniversary. And I just wanted to quickly say Happy Fathers Day to all of you dads and to say that I really appreciate my dad who taught me so much growing up (like the infield fly rule, and how to get high scores on Frogger, and that boys who disrespect me were not worth my time, and lots of other wonderful things) and I also want to say that I appreciate my dh who is a hands on dad to our kiddos and there is nothing in the world more attractive to me than a man who wants to father his children.

Sooooo, to all you dads on this thread and to all the dh's of you ladies on the thread who are good dads and to any dad who is worthy of accolades, I respectfully submit this poem (it's kinda my MO, ain't it? ) from me to you.

some men are born to lead
and some follow quietly behind
some men are born to keep the peace
and others to speak their mind

some men are born to heal our bodies
and some will serve and protect
some men are born to counsel us
and others will gain our respect

some men are born to lend a hand
and some to shape childrens minds
some men are born to spread Gods word
and others will change mankind

some men were born for greatness
revolutionizing destinies to be had
but never was a greater man born
than the one who is proudly a "Dad"

((platonic hug)) to all

Happy anniversary in advance, BBN! What sort of magical day do you and Ron Stoppable have planned? Family day at the rodeo? Baby goat liberation? Mass consumption of Reese's peanut butter eggs? C'mon, spill it!

Lovely poem, EliSabeth! Have a great day!

I remember way (and I mean WAY) back when my father explained the concept of percentages to me. I was just in AWE! Unfurtunately, he died back in 1981.
DH is an awesome father too, much better than I am as a mother.

Still no word from DD :furious: And it's after modnight there now.

I remember all the cool things taught to me by my dear daddy......he was the sweetest little man around.....he died March 2, 1980.......He taught us to love camping, fishing, hornpouting, jigging for frogs..(we did frog legs before it was French), we had so much fun.......he taught us about how to get over boredom......when he was confined to the house after his first heart attack. Back then you were doomed for being disabled if you had a major coronary. Well anyways....one day dh was driving me home from high school and I saw this commotion on the living room side of the house.....feathers flying and everything......and then we got out of hubbies car and went into the house on the other side and when we rounded the corner ....there went feathers out the other side of the house....he caught a pigeon on the bird feeder with a foot lasso and let it out the other side of the house......laughed our heads off...will always remember that one.
Brian and I are lucky because our kids are so great......yes they were brats during their childhood but as adults they are wonderful....

Oh sorry I got carried away......love to remember the old days with my daddy and mama and all my other siblings......we were something else

Oh Ya! Father's Day tomorrow! ;)

He wanted a wii but there isn't any wiis to be found in Utah or Idaho at the moment :confused3

So he's getting a wii- IOU and a Indiana Jones box set and some polo shirts. :thumbsup2

Happy (early) Father's Day to all the Thread Papas!!!!

Happy Anniversary BbN and Ron Stoppable!

Happy Anniversary to Celery'sMama and Veggie diddy!

SO!!! I was at the Chevron today in Sugarhouse (yuppy town a la Utah) and saw a MINT condition 1968 Pontiac GTO Convertible :hyper: !!!! Just sitting there...I may or may not have helped myself to a closer look at this FINE automobile. :cloud9: :rolleyes1 I won't explain "closer look".

OK,since we are on the subject of fathers, here is a little more about mine. He was a master mechanic (as in fixing cars) and in his retirement days, he worked for years on a perpetual motion machine. Alas, he never got it done, or I would be living high on the hog right now (sorry, just watched a Top Chef show with pigs). Anyway, he would drive up to the shop that my brother was running by then every day and work on his hell machine, as DB called it.

Don't you all wish he could have finished it? We wouldn't be in this gas fix if he had.

toot - I love your avatar! the pic of you and the tarantula is pretty cool too!

Hi Celery! Thanks! That pic was taken at the field museum in Chicago a few weeks ago. I held the tarantula, a hissing cockroach and a millipede. Of the three, the tarantula was the most pleasant to hold. I was scared!

Oh, and we saw WICKED the musical! Most enjoyable!

How are you doing?

Hi, Bonnie, nice to see your around these parts again,

I agree with Celery, cool pic and avatar!

The phone just rang. Caller ID said from 1-000-000-0000

Hi Marita! Wow, what a strange phone number! Wonder who it was! How is work going, lady?

I just asked about you last night in chat. You must have ESPN or something! Whoa!

MO!! How are you, lady? Still losing weight? Sadly, I am not in that frame of mind right now. I am loving food lately! Too bad, cause now it's swimsuit time. Now I am wishing I had stayed on plan these past six months, I'd be looking HOT right about now! :goodvibes How bout you...looking hot? :hyper:

Bonnie, I was hoping that was a call from my DD, who is now God kows where in Europe. But nobody on the other end.

Work sucks!

TOOOT!

:scared1: :scared1: EEEEK! You held a TI-ranchula!!!! :scared1: :scared1:

I didn't see a thing you wrote thanks to a level 5 Heebie Jeebie Attack!
I wouldn't even save one of my babies if a big, hairy, ickypoo spider was crawling on them. (Ok, yes I would, but I wouldn't be very happy about it).
