My cookout went extremely well, despite the last minute addition of all those people (plus a few I didn't know about until they rang my doorbell!). The weather cooperated nicely...it was sunny and dry with a great breeze to keep the bugs at bay.

We had a fantastic time, all of us, and I even managed to get the house back in order before going to bed last night, so I didn't have to wake up to a house in disarray (I HATE that!)

We spent the rest of the day relaxing together. We watched some movies, played a couple of board games, and had dinner outside on the deck. I'd say that today was pretty much a perfect day! :goodvibes

Wendell, we had salad, hotdogs, burgers, 3 kinds of steak tips, marinated chicken, 2 boneless pork loins (1 honey mustard, 1 sundried tomato), vegetable kabobs, Hawaiian shrimp kabobs, homemade potato salad, homemade pasta salad, and teriyaki portobellos. For dessert, I always do a make-your-own-sundae setup for the kids. I get waffle-cone bowls, a couple of flavors of ice cream, plus a bunch of toppings like hot fudge, caramel sauce, whipped cream, cherries, sprinkles, crushed cookies, etc., and let the kids go to town. They LOVE it! I put the stuff out on picnic tables in the middle of the yard, so if they make a huge mess, I don't need to freak out. I also carved a basket out of a huge watermelon, and filled it with fruit. The only other thing I did for dessert was a few pans of brownies. Grownups also had the option of mojitos or watermelon margaritas.

For activities, we did horseshoes, darts and pool (we have a table in the poolhouse), plus the kids played bocce, basketball and baseball. My 2 kids were pretty ticked that the pool wasn't ready to swim in, but it would've been too dang cold anyway.

Sounds WONDERrific! No wonder you get so many unexpected people showing up. I would have too had I known about the sundae bar and horseshoes!!!

We had a nice visit and BBQ at my sisters , Justin was having a great time with his turtle sandbox I got for him.... we should have taken pictures...I need a new camera ...any good sugestions what type to get that are easy to use?

I've got my eye on the Nikon D60. All the features I reeeeally want with a not-too bad price tag. So far Costco has it bundled with the X22 zoom lense :bitelip: at the best price. (still need to save my pennies for that

Morning.

Went to bed sweating, woke up freezing. Crazy weather.

very cloudy looks like rain.
I am constantly adjusting the thermostat!

I'm almost always cold/freezing so the minute my DH leaves, I crank up th e heat. ::yes:: :rolleyes1

Am I the only one who feels extremely confused by the distinct absence of Lexi morning posts? Have my mad skimming skillz failed me again and she went somewhere and I just missed it??

Hope everyone had a nice memorial day.

Wendy - I read all 3 of the Twilight books while we were in Ga. and that was just the first week. I kept having to make trips to BAM to get the next one. They are SOOOOOOOOOOO good! I can't wait for the next one to come out!

Hi, Moovers!

Sounds like most everyone had a lovely weekend!

Well, another forecast here for me, and this one sets the stage for next years budget. Good times, with all the issues I have here, LOL. I decided to stop worrying about it.

My son called tonight, they had more leadership excercises, but he was just in a group today, his leadership turn comes tomorrow. Anyway, today involved running around in heavy flack (?) jackets, carrying guns, carrying people across the battle field, etc. He said everyone had a headache from being in the sun all day. I asked what he was going tonight, and he said he didn't know yet (he has lots to do), but he was hoping for a quiet evening without upper classmen harassing them. I said they harrass you???????? He said yes, that's all part of testing you to see how you deal with stress. And they give them more things to do than they can possibly handle to learn how to prioritize, I guess! Poor baby!!

So I asked about sending him a care package, and he said, I'd rather you didnt! WHY? Because there is no space, and anything you have is subject to inspection and has to be sealed. Since when can't sunscreen and snack not be inspected?. But, whatever, I guess no care packages for now.

3 more weeks in the low totem pole group, then he moves to upper classmen. Hope he makes it!

OK, back to work for me now
