bbn are you sure that post wasnt on the ever changing thread title of WT's???

ha. I'm glad you like my sense of humor, at least SOMEBODY does.

The Mc Muscley Doctor with the dark hair and eyes even let me practice on him:cloud9:

Glad Mal didn't break her arm, but that sounds like a silver lining if I've ever heard one.;)

GOOD MORNING!

I did get my girls evening with 27 Dresses but stayed up toooo late and now I'm dragging.

Yay. Girls night out!

Snarkgirl: I'm having your set of problems. The dis ate some of my quotes.

Hi everybody! This post is entirely too long. Maybe I'll start a new one.

Let it be known that reheating a Jr. Whopper on Sensor reheat does NOT produce great results.

You EAT? :confused3

That and leftover french fries. IS there a good way to reheat french fries?

Or, you can do like Jordan did once and stick the burger still wrapped in the FOIL into the microwave! That was 2 microwaves ago. The last one you will recall just prior to us leaving to Disneyland caught fire after putting a neck-roll-thingie in the microwave for SIX minutes....:sad2:

Twilight Thread Fanz- GO TO THE THREAD!!!! Trust me!!! :yay:

First of all. WTHeck? I have tags, and a scrolling one at that. I know prezackly where I got that Diet coke one too. KEWL. pixiedust:

Sorry my post was interrupted by a PHONE CALL *AHEM*!!!!!

Now then, I want to tell a cute lil kid story b/c I have had enough bad news in the last few weeks to last me for awhile. (BTW, after I put the kids to bed last night, I get a phone call, and it's late, so you know it can't be great. My mom was in a car wreck. Thankfully, her injuries turned out to be non life threatening, but I am getting to the point where I do not want to answer my phone anymore. Life is trying to kick me in the you know where, but this lil cowgirl aint gonna take it anymore!!!! Harumph:snooty: )

Back to my story

Yesterday, the redhead lost a tooth. Of course he puts it under his pillow for the tooth fairy to find.

The dh decides to go up and put the money under his pillow before we forget. I am sitting downstairs near the steps, and all of a sudden I hear cow bell clank. Oh yes, you read that right a cow bell. I thought what the heck is the DH doing up there and why is there a cow bell in my sons room. (see maybe it wasnt an earthquake...read back for that joke if you skimmed)

I hear voices, but I cant make out what they are saying. The dh comes back down. He is laughing. I say "what was that all about?"

Apparently, the redhead had rigged his pillow using yarn and a cow bell (it was a toy cow bell, not a big clunky one. b/c a big clunky one would just be weird. ha. He used to have this big stuffed cow with a bell around it's neck, so he had removed it).

ANYWAY, whenever the dh went to move the pillow the "alarm" sounded.

The redhead woke up and looked at the dh and said "Dad?!?! What are you doing in here! I'm trying to catch the tooth fairy!!!!!"

I think he's a freakin' genius, no?

Alrighty it made me laugh, and that's all that matters.

1. ACK! Glad to hear your Mom is going to be ok, E.
2. Duh, because it's attached to the cows that are constantly streaming through your kids' rooms. I thought the topic of the omniprescence of cows in your kids' rooms had already been covered in the discussion of the earthquake.
3. It IS a cute story, E. Thanks for sharing.

I don't think tornadoes are attracted to computers :confused3 (just trailer parks).

It's ok, Wendy. Everyone. Really. Whew! I thought more folks on this thread lived in tornado alley. The sirens sound, you go downstairs, the sirens stop, you go do whatever you want, sometimes they sound again (like they just did as I was typing this!), and you go back downstairs again.

It's fairly normal spring stuff (NOT daily but once a month or so). Really, you only need to worry about them when they are within a few miles of your house (the ones tonight, for example, are moving across the land at about thirty miles per hour so if it's within 10 miles, it would take 20 minutes to travel those 10 miles).

I know many of us have lived in tornado alley for decades with no problems but you never know. I did have a friend who lost her whole house in May 2003 and that same tornado also took out three homes right across the street from my parents as well as the apartment building that DW and I lived in right after we got married (we had long since moved out and were in our current house in 2003) which was about 12 miles away from my parents' neighborhood.

I will. Thanks all for worrying but, really, there is no need. I'm sure we'll all be fine. I just hope they end so the sirens will shut off and we can get some sleep tonight. I'll try to check in from time to time.

Hopefully no lettuce or tomato either. I hate microwaved lettuce on my burgers. :scared:

Also: no snacks at the party (what kind of party is this?). Just video games and tv and two laptop PC's.

Are you ok Rob? Oh yeah, I live in tornado alley. We had a bad storm back in Feb. and I heard the sirens (we have one at the middle school which is in my backyard) and the weather radio went off in the middle of the night. Turned on the TV and didn't think much about it unil they said that one was just spotted at the intersection that is 1/2 mile from our house. :scared1: I went and casually asked my DH, do you think we ought to go get the kids up now? :rotfl2: I guess when you live around it all the time, it isn't as big of a deal. Although, I have to say I was a little nervous, never had one that close before. Me and the kids stayed in the little "powder room" while DH did this -> :surfweb: Watching the radar. DS is 6'1" and he didn't like that he was all cramped up in the powder room, so he laid out into the hallway. At least DH wasn't like our neighbor across the street who was wandering out in his front yard trying to see it. I figured yeah he'll see it, and then get sucked up into it.

Happy Friday Y'all! :grouphug:

I saw "Twister". You won't make it in time and you'll get hit by a flying still-moo'ing COW!!!! :sad2:

Yes, actually, please do!

Well, it's been proven now. A cell phone cannot survive a dive into the toilet! :lmao: Yes, my cell phone finally gave up the ghost last week after trying really hard to work for a couple of days. The toilet water was just too much for it. Actually, I can see everything, I just can't hear it. Although, it didn't show the call from Sandy :confused3 , but her VM's have shown up, but I can't get them since the speaker doesn't work. :headache: BUT..........

dramatic pause.....

DH got an iphone for an early B'day present so I got his old one. :cheer2: Now, I'm back in business and don't have to borrow DS phone anymore.:cheer2:

Ya, they also don't like to be washed in the pocket of your jeans. :confused3

I HAAAATE my pink "chocolate" phone. Just because it's PINk, doesn't make it good. It's too touchy, I spend more time undoing stuff I accidentally activate.

Does anyone else ever experience phantom vibrate-mode? Like when you don't even have your phone??? That is so weird.

Hurricanes, tornados and earthquakes......guess I will take the three or so feet of snow and ice.......who cares if I am freezing my butt off......but the rest of those natural disasters really do scare me .........as does southern buggies...:scared1:

I am sitting here in my housecoat still so I guess i should get showered and changed.......

Are you ok Rob? Oh yeah, I live in tornado alley.

Happy Friday Y'all! :grouphug:
Yeah, I'm ok and I'm pretty sure my house is. I just got a phone call from my mom calling from work to check on me. I guess one of the tornadoes was a bit closer than I thought. Mom works for the city police department and she told me that they had set up a special command post at my church which is about two miles from my home because some neighborhoods about four miles from my home got hit hard as in, she thinks, houses completely gone.

I'm sure I'll be out surveying the damage this weekend.

On a more personal note, I have been parking my car outside these past few weeks because we saved one of our old couches for the basement (would have came in handy last night) but we haven't been able to make room for it  down there yet. Well, DS15 went out to my car to get his digital camera so he could take pictures of the stormy skies and, I guess, in the process must have hit the trunk release button so my trunk lid was open most of the night in the driving rain storm. Blech. Still, better than losing my home.

That soooooo happens to me. Usually, I will have my pager and cell phone in my pocket though but, yes, it definitely has happened even when I did not have either of them and more than once too.

-- Rob

Allie: Yay about the phone!

Wendy: I am echo'ing BobinLittleCK's sentiments about the usual proceedings of a tornado. The siren sounds. You head to the basement. Nothing happens. You come back up. Yes, they can be scary, but they are few and far between. I have only been through a couple of actual tornadoes. One we were in the basement and the other we were driving in the truck. It all turned out ok. I think a basement or downstairs area is a good idea if you are going to be house hunting in the midwest. (imho)

pumba: I would rather take my chances with a tornado than to have 6 feet of ice and snow. I guess that's what makes the world go round, we are all different.

Robin: Have fun drying out the trunk.

I thought it was just me but I am thinking my phone is vibrating then I check and I dont even have my phone with me!!

Thanks UtahMama, now I have a name to go with it....Phantom vibrate-mode

Goog Morning!

E: I am glad you are back to your usual Pollyanna self and have opened a lemonade stand with all the lemons. Glad your mom is ok :thumbsup2 I LOVE today's redhead story. It seems like all of your children are freakin' geniuses. Genetics is cool, eh? Also congrats on FINALLY getting your Atticus Finch tag. I am confused by why the DH was putting money under the pillow..... where you afraid the Tooth Fairy would be unable to come due to the weather?

I don't remember any tornados when I lived in Memphis. Some wild thunderstorms but that is part of the joy that is the midwest.

Now my first summer on the prairie we did have a tornado in our lil' town. The DH was working out of town that summer (this was before I knew that it was code for Sunnybrook). I

was outside with all the kids. The oldest was down the street playing with some friends. He came home and said everyone else had to go inside. :confused3 Then the phone rang and it was DH's good friend who knew I was new and alone and wanted to know if I was terrified. HUH? I had no clue why I should be terrified. He told me he was sitting on the balcony of his apartment and could see the funnel cloud heading down the street.

He told me to get the kids and head to the basement. So I did.

The funniest part was when I went upstairs to get some snacks (it was dinner time and I didn't want the kids to be scared so I said we would have a picnic in the basement) and I saw the neighbor's little tykes playhouse go flying by.....

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

and that is when I KNEW I WAS IN KANSAS.

Good morning and happy Friday, all!

BBN, glad your mom is ok! Funny story about the redhead, smart kid! YAY for tags!!!

Glad you are ok, Rob. On the Today show they were showing some pictures entire neighborhoods wiped out! Scary!!!

Thought Mal broke her arm
My goodness, mony! If it's not one thing, it's another!
And when we came to circle at the end of the day to discuss our experiences many of them did say it felt good to help people and to help our classroom community.
Aww! Exploiting our youth and making them think it's a team building exercise! wow.
hee.

:cool1: Yaaaaay!!! See, you NEED to spend at least a couple days of your vacation time with me and Cel!

Email me your Itinerary and I will see what I can work in.
.
Remember we have extra beds (for jumping on or sleeping on), so you can actually stay over and make it like a real live vacation!
if hubby wouldn't mind.

I don't think tornadoes are attracted to computers :confused3 (just trailer parks).
Thanks, Rob. Good to know you're safe while I'm cowering in my trailer. :(
Even the breadman's house is technically a "trailer," although it's a triple wide and is anchored to the ground.
At least his ex in laws have a cellar.

I will now proceed to write a heartfelt letter of gratitude. On Disney Princess thank you notes. duh.
Aww! I hope she likes it. I really liked the ariel stickers on my christmas card. :cloud9:
