Moo'vers 2012 Edition! come on in!

we are going to the store tomorrow to get us a thunder shirt......another thunderstorm this pm and she spazzed out...took turns holding onto her and rubbing her ears and head....hopefully this will work on her...
This is the beginning really of our summer...so will get one while the going is good...

we had a great afternoon before storm...two hours of fun in the pool and the kids did great...our grandson would jump off the deep end (with life vest on) and yell....CANNON BALLLLLLLLLL...but before he could get that last word off he was under...he had a blast...

Happy belated Canada Day, Nab!

I'm sorry I have been so remiss posting here lately. Kind of busy with work lately, thank goodness, which is much better than being bored to tears.

Nothing much to report here, same old, which I gusss is good.

I promise to be better posting. I have my 40th anniversary with Disney coming up, YIKES. I asked the boss not to make too much of a deal of it, they were going to have the VP and even the senior VP do something, but I dont want that. Just doing a lunch with a small team and a GF cake. Soon after that we leave for Montana, where I shall do a lot of reading in a hotel room while the rest of the family does outdoor stuff, LOL.

Later....and stay cool

Nab I hope you had a nice time celebrating with your family.

My sister leaves for her Alaskan Disney Cruise in two weeks.

We leave in 5 weeks!:woohoo:

We shut the air off and it is nice!

I am running the sub sale July 12-14. Getting in gear for that the next two weeks.

Next month we will be in Disney!

I hope this week cools down enough to open windows. Love it when it is a warm breeze blowing in the windows since we can't open them in the winter. Especially the bathrooms.

Marita-- 40 years wow that is a big deal. I am the same as you hubby does more of that stuff with the kids then I do. I would stay behind too.

Lots of people out enjoying the celebrations last night. I'm sure your 4th of July will be the same, bbq's, parties, fireworks. etc. Do you only get the day off since it is not near a weekend?

We have a late baseball game tonight that starts at 8:30. But that is about all we have planned for today. Everything is closed up for the holiday.

Yes, Nabbie, we only get Wednesday off, but I think a lot of people will be taking extra vacation time off! I'm just taking Wednesday morning off to sleep in a bit in case there are lots of fireworks going off late.

Congrats, Marita! A FR cake sounds heavenly :)

Pumba - Hope you were able to find a Thundershirt and that it does the trick!

Mony - I'm too afraid to let the cool air in at night because we have so many neighbors who burn trash or grass clippings around us. I can't stand being woken up by having smoke come into the house.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!

Dang, it's hot! We don't have central air and our room air conditioners aren't really keeping up with the heat and humidity. I might have to stay holed up in my room to keep cool. Or maybe we'll go to see Brave today.

Happy 4th of July to all of you !

Yes Moo it is really hot here too. We are packing the trailer and heading to the beach for a few days. Have to be back for Sunday and Nicholas job at church. That is starting to get in the way more. That and baseball.

We went and saw Brave a few weeks ago , very cute movie. They have Melia? not sure of her name at Disney already. Some one posted pictures on the Brave thread a while back.

Tried to electrocute myself this morning. The bulb on our new stand up freeze burned out already but they sent us a replacement though. Anyway I couldn't get it to go in because it is kind of cased in so I put my finger in to see how far back the rim was , it didn't seem to be screwing in. You guessed if I stuck my finger right in the socket. Hubby was right be side me giving me heck of course, really dumb thing to do I know.....Won't do that again. Neither one of us got that bulb in so still no light in my freezer. Did kid him and ask if my hair got any curlier....

Was without power for about 22 hours. It got up to 102 today. Several storms went through here yesterday and knocked out our power.

Got up to 93 in the house. Thankfully we have a generator which saved our food and kept the sub pump working. The neighbors tapped into it and the neighbor on the other side opened their pool up to us all.

We wound up creating a nice pot luck spread and made the best of our powerless 4th of July. I know not everyone has their power back yet, some more storms went through to the south of us and yet more have lost power.

Stay cool! Just turned our air back on, 87 is still hot in here.

we put the thundershirt on megara every few hours to let her get used to it ..going on and coming off.......but last night the outskirts of where fireworks are legal in our city...*(right near us) went off at to late of a time...our dog tried to get into the closet ..knocked over our chair and finally I brought her down stairs and she went willingly into the kennel...shut the front of it and turned the fan on her ...I laid in the other room on the couch and waited for her to spaz but she didnt...so we left her there and I went upstairs and went to bed ..almost midnight ...I hate fireworks except in Disney and in the proper places...like over the river falls...
this is the first year they are legal to sell and buy in Maine.....so hopefully they abide by the law...PLEASEEEEEE..
I think 40 years is a great accomplishment for any employment.......way to go Marita...hubby just had his 35th at the shipyard and they gave most of the ones that were celebrating some anniversary a party at a seafood restaurant...then photos with the president of the company and momentos of the ships...

Hope you all had a great fourth celebrating with family and friends...and good food...we went to the bils house on Sebago Lake...beautiful day and warm temps...and great people to be with..

see ya later moovers ...hot temps are here again for today tomorrow and saturday...so more pool time for us...

Hot here too!

Mony-- good thing you have a generator, hope you can stay cool today.

Pumba-- my day has come, went to the doctor yesterday for my blood tests and I am now a Diabetic. It is really freaking me out. I really don't know where to start food wise? I will check the Canadian Diabetes site and other websites today. The doctor put me on Metiform X2 a day and I have a meter that hubby's work covered with the strips. He said it might have to go to 3 a day but we are waiting to see. My blood sugar was 7.1 after fasting. But when I did it this morning it was 9.8 what the heck did I do last night to send it so high since it was 6.8 when tested at 7:00 last night at the drug store.

I better get moving still have to put stuff in the trailer, we are leaving at noon.

Hope everyone stays cool and safe over the holiday weekend.

Nab...I freaked out when I was told I had diabetes....scared me to death...SO lets first get you unfreaked...that is the first thing for you to do...calm and dont worry...

Get a book called ..The calorie King...you will not be counting calories..just carbs...then figure out your size and if you are big and tall ...I am short and not to chunky...so I can have 30 carbs per meal and 15 for snacks in between...I of course cheat....if you are taller and more chunky then start off with 40 carbs per meal...
Sometimes a person has to have that snack like a few hours after dinner to get your sugar in the right place while you are sleeping and test when you get up..

If your insurance allows it...go to a diabetic educator who will have a diabetic nutritionist help you out...you can eat what your family eats only in smaller portions...it will be portion control...

But dont stress...you will calm down and you will be fine...if you need me ..JUST YELL...:grouphug:

Nab, if my mom can manage her diabetis, anyone can. You will be fine! You are in good hands.:grouphug:

Thanks guys.

I got a calorie counter book today. Man I did not realize how much carbs are in stuff. I know they were carbs and bad but wow. After meals seem fine but the morning fasting one is really high the last two mornings. Wondering if that is still the effect from my dinner since it usually is the bigger meal.

Guess it is a learning curve , hopefully I can lose some weight at the beginning of it that would be a bonus.

We had few great days camping and at the beach. I manage to get my chest burnt even though I stayed under the umbrella most of the time. Applied a lot of sunscreen and Hannah still managed to get her shoulders brunt. The lake did it I think she was out there for a long time.

Now home and doing the watch and unpacking....fun is over. :rotfl:

I thought the same thing...like OMG that is my whole meal all in one item...YUP...it was a learning experience...
MY biggest sad face item was spaghetti and meatballs...because one cup or less of pasta just didnt do it for me...so I make a big pot of sauce with chicken and hamburg in it and I eat that and my plate is pretty good size...but its my cheat of pasta...dietician said do that...so I DO THAT..

after a while it will get easy counting the carbs....remember that stuff that says sugar free usually ..almost always has more carbs then the regular stuff...only one that is true is Jello pudding and pie cook one...sugar free is delish and the family never knew the difference when I make the chocolate cream pie...and use the whipped cream in a can...I can do this I thought...

I will tell you...when I had to go on this diet...I was very unhappy...and it was sad...carbs are comfort foods...

see ya later

Hang in there, Nabbie - You can learn to eat lower carb! I really need to get back to that because I have gained a lot of weight overdoing the carbs lately since I've been less active due to my knee replacement :(

Thank goodness the hot weather has FINALLY broken!!!

On the downside, I was heading out to water flowers at the cemetery tonight with the dogs in the car and they tried to jump in the front seat as I was backing out of the garage and I scraped my front quarter panel on the side of the garage putting a good-sized dent in it and pulling some trim off the doorway of the garage. Grrr. I think repair will have to wait until we head down for the wedding while I can be without my car for a few days.

Pumba - It sounds like the Thundershirt may have helped a bit. We are still hearing a lot of fireworks tonight. The dogs don't seem scared, but they have been barking a lot.

Nab, good luck with your diagnosis, must be scary. But from what others said, you can control it.

I've been busy at work. Next week is the 21st anniversary of my 39th Bday, how the heck did that happen???? :sad2: The week after is my 40th with Disney, and then we are off to Montana to celebrate DS's promotion to Captain, where I will spend lots of quality time in a Best Western while the family does outdoorsy stuff.

DD showed up with a kitten from the shelter a couple of weeks ago despite my insistance that I did NOT want another pet that would probablu end up with hubby and me. But he was so cute and timy, so of course he stayed. sigh..... i guess its better than a puppy.

yes kitties are easier to tend to then dogs...I keep saying the same thing...NO MORE DOGS...but of course I saw one on the internet and had to look...NO MORE DALS...
SOME dogs dont do the afraid and anxiety until around 4ish the papers said...of course that is when it hit..Jasmine wasnt afraid...but she barked at the fireworks...and thunder boomers...
IN one hour we are heading out to NH to visit bil and sil....we love them to pieces and feel so good when we are around them....maybe 20 or so people arriving too...
We are getting responses back from our family gathering we will do the first of August(fourth)...24 so far....I love it and can hardly wait for all to come ..

I will see you tonight when we return..
have a good and safe day my friends

Moo-- ouch about the car. Hope it doesn't cost to much to fix that.

Pumba -- my comfort foods are all carbs. too. I love any kind of bread, bun etc. and always order pasta when we eat out. Guess I will have to think of more protein and veggies.

Marita-- cute kitty. Since we have a cat I say no more cats after Buddy. Don't like the cat hair and though we can go away for at least three days we have to get someone to watch him when we go longer. Thank goodness for grandpa. Love how creative you are on your birthday. :rotfl2:

Well off to church we go , hubby works tonight so not sure what we will be doing today.

Nab I've seen some people lose a lot of weight once they followed a Diabetic diet.

4 more weeks to go! Haven't packed a thing. We are deciding on our route to take and I think instead of taking I-75 all the way down we may drive a route that takes us through South Carolina which will end us up on 95 and looks to take us along the coast. I've never been to those parts.

Still considering adding two more days to our stay and adding the water parks and more options to our tickets. Kids are way excited about this.

My mom has to rent a scooter while we are in FL, any suggestions?

I found applescooter.com, I think that is it off the top of my head. It breaks down into three parts in 10 seconds and can be transferred in the trunk of a compact car. They will deliver and pick it up for free. Its 165.00 for ten days. Way better than I remember renting in the parks.

Garage/sub sale this week!

Make it a great day!

Mony - I have previously used Walker Mobility, but I always had problems with the scooters keeping a charge all day. I think it was because the hallway outlets (it was hard to maneuver the scooter into the room and made it very cramped) didn't fully charge the scooter overnight and my weight was probably a factor in running the battery down faster, which probably won't be an issue for your mom. My last couple trips I just paid the Disney prices each park day because if I ever had a problem, they would just bring another one. Of course, that doesn't work if you need one off-site! I also found that when I had issues with a rental scooter in the parks, the Disney staff were helpful. Hopefully, I'll be able to get around better on my own on my next trip with my new knee ;)
