Good to hear from you, MommyP!

I didn't feel the earthquake here in Michigan, although some people apparently did!

Hope none of our friends here are affected by Irene. I need to keep an eye on the path to see if my DD gets any rain from it. Fortunately, she is far enough inland that it's usually not too bad. Glad I'm not cruising during hurricane season!

The comforters get cleaned about every 3 months, so if you feel icky about that, don't use them. This is no different than any other hotels in the world (the big world, not WDW).

Pumba, they changed the sheet changing last fall from every 3rd day to every 4th day (or on check-out, you won't sleep on dirty sheets, LOL). But they are about at capacity and Art of Animation will have to be outsourced to some other company.

Nothing much happenening here today.

Marita - I DO feel icky about that. So I do not use them. But I let my kids use them, so I guess I'm a bad parent. :)

I am so very happy that it seems that storm will not greatly effect us. I have enough stress in my life right now I don't need to worry about boarding up my house and getting out of town.

Will they build larger laundry facilities to accommodate AOA and the newly rumored Grand Floridian DVC? Or continue to outsource?

I usually remove bedspreads now when I go any hotel. Other than the cleanliness issue, I have a fragrance sensitivity and find them just too hot to keep on the bed :rolleyes1

I don't recall which hotel chain it was, but it seems like I recently saw an ad saying that ALL bedding is laundered between guests. Wonder if they just have duvet covers that would be easier to clean.

Will they build larger laundry facilities to accommodate AOA and the newly rumored Grand Floridian DVC? Or continue to outsource?

They are still working on figuring that out

So after touring the sheets, etc laundry this weekend, we just happened to have a normal meeting scheduled at All Star this Friday, which is where the Food textiles laundry is located. I'm sure it's much smaller, but it will be interesting to see the difference.

Still not much happeneing in my life these days. Guess that's good or bad, LOL, depending on the happenings. Just going to work and coming home and days are pretty slow for the most part.

morning out there in the world..
Today is overcast and maybe some rain they said...Tomorrow same I think...and then Saturday will be pleasant and Sunday into Monday...Irene leftovers ..hopefully they are just a regular rainy windy day...
Last night went out to eat with our granddaughter and her beau....GD had a dentist appointment here and they wanted to thank us for all we did for his family and them at the new house...We loved doing it for them..
Hope you all on the east coast will be safe and not to much water or wind or damage from dear ol' Irene..
We hope to go to Disney in May with son and dil and two munchkins ...I told them I wanted to stay at Movies this time...I do believe their food court is better then the Moderates...We missed having spaghetti and meatballs at French Quarter...
Have a good day my friends

Pumba, All-Star??? You know we just finished the lovely room rehab at French Qqarter, right, with queen beds the entire room is new including the bath tub, and you can't beat the pasta bar at Riverside.

Work is still slow as molasses, but we did 3 property tours this week, and thats a lot of travelling and walking. Tomorrow is a big meeting at Allstar with a tour of the Food textiles laundry. Then this weekend I am hopefully getting a battery operated tv in case power goes out or my 7 year old TV dies, which would also be an emergency, LOL.

I dont think anyone on this thread is in the bad path of the hurricane, but just in case, good luck!

Marita-- Hope it doesn't hit you too bad either. Irene looks pretty big!

We had a really bad storm go though last night. A few tornados touching down in places west of us. We lost the satilite first then power for a bit. Hannah stayed in our bed last night. She hates thunder and lightening and it was quite a light show.

I have been busy getting my house back in order. It looks pretty good now. And out getting the kids ready for school , still have to get Nicholas school uniform pants hemmed.

Can't wait until the fall shows start up again and the kids get back into the school routine again. They have been sleeping in and staying up late , it is going to be hard to get them back to getting up early I'm afraid, me too.

morning everyone..

I was thinking which Hurricane took out part of Camp Ellis ...just a little south of us...We had alot of rain and winds here and the winds took down Bates College OLD OLD OLD trees......big beautiful trees toppled down...alot of streets were closed because of trees or limbs...but nothing major..NOTHING LIKE THE ICE STORM OF '98....Now that was something else...

We love Port Orleans French Quarter for its size and location...and the grandkids loved the pool too...Last May hubby and I went to the FQ by ourselves...we enjoyed the whole place...but didnt really like the food court..they took out so much of the foods we liked before...I think they need to rehab it like they did at Riverside...no refrig units (at FQ) to take out salads and sandwiches....I think that is why we like Movies...

Hope you Marita are safe and to keep us updated if you can when the storm hits your area...

Hope you all have a good day:grouphug:

Hi all, we are fine, Irine didnt really hit florida at all. But is sure looks bad for the rest of the East coast, yikes! The news tonight was all about that and even extended for 30 minutes. Nab, I heard it may even hit Canada.
Keep safe everyone!

Glad to hear that you weren't hit by Irene, Marita! I don't think Mari will be affected too much because she is inland. She doesn't post much on FB, but a friend of mine from high school who lives nearby does, so as long as the power holds out, at least I'll be able to see my friend's weather updates!!!

Nabbie - I'm looking forward to the fall shows too, especially Biggest Loser (although I'm not too sure about the new trainers). I don't watch much at all on TV during the summertime, I mostly read and play on my laptop.

Pumba - One of my coworkers is visiting Maine this week! I'm looking forward to hearing about her vacation. Hope you don't get much bad weather from Irene. Hopefully it will blow itself out by then!!!

good morning..
Hub went to the New house...some day it will be THE HOUSE...I am going to stay here and pack (well after I check out the MOOVERS and facebook...Hey I have my priorities..
We have six huge pine trees over at the New house and hopefully they all stay put..that is in the back yard where the pool is...In the front of the house we have two beautiful red maples...I love those trees........They are just gorgeous..I will take photos one of these days of them..
We should get plenty of rain and wind but nothing that a Nor'easter doesnt bring to us...So Irene can leave the country I am hoping..

Hope you all are okey..

woke up at four am and megara was not a happy camper with the rain that we were getting.....pre Irene...so he ate breakfast and left to go to the new house...He called about one and told me that one big pine blew down and fell onto the diving board and the pool cover......so tomorrow we have to call some tree service places and get rid of these pine trees......some are HUGE..so it will be done before we wanted to do that.
We had major winds and flooding.......about noonish I heard a big explosion and I was terrified......I opened the door and yelled to my neighbor.SONIA>........she was terrified too ..she came over and had her scanner and phone in her hand......I had my phone clutched to me.......never heard such a noise in my life ...even when the transformers exploded......well this was the transformer in the next street......they lost power.....our daughter just got her power back.....

Well we are find and have taken in another storm.....our top winds were 52 I think and we got four inches of rain in our area..
see ya

Yikes, Pumba! Goog luck with your tree removal and all :grouphug:

Pretty relaxing weekend for me. I went to a friend's house yesterday to do same crafting and have dinner. Thai peanut chicken, Asian salad, and peach crumble for dessert. Yummo!

Today, my sister and I took our other sister out for her birthday dinner and our niece and her boyfriend drove in from the Detroit area to surprise her mom for her birthday :goodvibes

Marita-- Irene is still hitting the East coast with high winds and rain. We only got the wind yesterday but no rain with it.

Pumba-- Now trees falling, another cost to you on your new home. Glad no one was hurt by it.

Hubby is off all week again so we are heading out until Thursday, Nicholas has to be back for his school BBQ and get to know his new school. Think we are going to go over the border again. We do love your country. And our dollar is still holding at par.

One more week until I get back to our normal schedule of school, Guides, swimming etc. in the month of Sept.

we got an estimate on that one tree and also for them all to come down at the same time.....we were anticipating this as next spring job but oh well..we will do it now..so they will come back and do it when they arent right out straight and doing peoples homes that have trees on them or thru their windows or on their cars......our area had alot of damage.
BUT it didnt hit our house or the neighbors ...so we are thankful for that.

See ya later

Slow day here today! Well, I have decided to take Friday off work for an extra long weekend. I have a meeting at work tomorrow but have mostly been doing file cleanup. Glad my day is clear on Friday so I can stay home guilt-free :)

w00t!

Moo, good point, Monday is a holiday! I will need to consult my calendar for Friday, I think it's clear. Then again, I might want to save the day for another time when there is no hope in sight for a short weekend.

I met the webmaster for PortOrleans.org and the PortOrleans FAQ threads today, so that was kind of neat. He was here for 2 weeks, he's from the UK.

morning everyone..
We are anticipating a move in this weekend.....I may not have any internet at the house for a week or more...but will have it when we come back here to the old house when we clean up and take out MORE STUFF..
It will take forever to get all HIS tools and mens stuff out...and he says I still have my trainiing bras (in order words I keep stuff)...but I dont...I did alot of pitch and toss these past weeks..
The houses on the street that I can see FINALLY got their power last night at 9:30...I heard some YE HAAAAAAAs....I am glad for them....it is a hard time to be without power......More schools cancelled opening day to next week......Our kids in our area went back Monday...alot of power still out in outer areas...

I dont know (still) how to add photos to the posts.....and I dont know how to add them to facebook....but I will send the photos of the tree down ...if you want to see them in email..
See ya later gators...or moovers
