acws - Brian is excited about getting to paint with the two year olds next week! I saw him briefly tonight at church.
:rotfl2:

If you guys need more to do, Samantha H and I just started a Sunday evening stone soup class - she'll need extra help too since I'll be gone.

For everyone else - stone soup is our kids with "different abilities" group at church. we have Sunday morning classes for special needs kids and a monthly parents night out, but a 14 year old with a heart of gold wanted to offer one on Sunday night - so when she asked me to be her adult (sucker), I couldn't say no.

Moo and Mommyp - I didn't say hi to either of you earlier - so hi!

acws again - most of us have met in real life over the years. We even had a big meet in 2007 where almost all of us were at disney together. We come from all over the country (plus Canada and one native German who lives in Florida). We're mostly female and I think I'm the only childless one (other than PJ, but she hardly posts anymore) - although we do have several empty nesters.
I love these guys because we all come from different backgrounds and perspectives, but we care about each other and have been here for each other over the years. :grouphug:

Enough mushy stuff!

Welcome, acwsmom! Any friend of Cel's is a friend of ours!!

I've been at WDW a couple times with Cel :goodvibes

Hoping for another meet of some sort in the next couple years :) That will include some of our regulars that I haven't met IRL!

Awww, Cel! That 14 y.o. sounds like a sweetie! It's really great of you to give your time like that!

Moo, I wasn't feeling the Oscars, so I'm watching the Criminal Minds marathon on A&E. Before Natasha went to bed, she asked me to paint her nails. As we were getting that done, she looked at the TV and saw Shemar Moore, who's a regular on that show, running across the screen. She turned to me and said, "Whoa! That guy is all kinds of BOOM!" What am I gonna do with her?! :scared:

welcome. Acwsmom (wow, we need a shorter name for sure!)

Hi, I'm Marita, work at Disney and the only one who never ever vacations there . In fact, I hardly ever go there outside of work. Epitome of a couch potato, that's me...

Watching the Oscars, but I think I'll go to bed early. Not being a movie watcher, I really dont care, and the entertainment isnt all that great, yawn! Plus, I got up at the crack of 11am today, after nightmares, eeck!

Hiya, acwsmom!! Pleased to meet you! Welcome to our little corner of the DIS! Some of us (like me!) have spotty attendance records 'round here, and others show up more regularly. Tell us about yourself! popcorn::

Thanks for all of the welcomes! I love getting the chance to meet friendly Disney addicts! :goodvibes It makes me feel better about my own addiction.

About me? Well, I'm a mom to a DD, 10 going on 15, and DS who is 5 who is a nut and wild! We swear we'll get to know the Principal on a first-name basis as soon as he enters Kindergarten in the Fall. Beyond that, I work full-time in a local hospital, basically as an event planner. I LOVE my job and it explains why I'm slightly neurotic about planning our Disney trips!

DH is the original Disney nut in our family. He's the only guy I ever met in college with a dorm room decorated in Mickey Mouse. He's such a kid at heart and STILL tears-up every time he gets to see Mickey at WDW. That's OK with me - I teared up when I had my picture taken with Cinderella at 1900 Park Fare a couple years ago! Anyway, our families only took us to WDW once during our childhoods so we swore we'd become frequent visitors when we had kids. So, for the past three years, we've gone every year. Supposedly we're skipping this year and are planning for a trip next summer with DH's parents. Of course, given our addiction, we're only one pin code offer away from booking a fall trip!! :rotfl2:

Thanks for the offer for more to do on Sundays!! Yeah, Brian's just THRILLED over the idea of 2 year-olds with paint! He ranks that craft right up there with 2 year-olds with glitter. :rotfl: I think that explains why he still hasn't agreed to helping me for the next two weeks. But I'll talk him into it (or threaten him - whatever works best).

But I'm glad to meet everyone in the group. And I have my own little weird perspective and background. I'm originally from the North, spent most of my childhood/teenagehood in South Korea (long story) where I got to travel around most of Asia, and then moved to the South after college where I've lived ever since. I have a sister in Canada, a brother-in-law in Germany, an uncle in Laos, cousins in Sweden... So I can blend in with most everyone. :goodvibes

Nice to meet you! And I'm hoping to be your co-worker one day. Once I get the kids grown and off on their own, DH and I are determined to retire in Florida and work in WDW. We only have about 30 more years to go!

Oh, and my acwsmom name is just a blend of my kids' names. Spelled out it'd be Ann Catherine & Will's Mom. But you can shorten it to AC - which happen to be my own initials as well! :thumbsup2

Natasha, you go girl! Hahaha!!! I haven't watched Criminal Minds for a while but I've liked Shemar Moore since I first saw him on Young and the Restless!

I LOVE Anne Hathaway! That's the main reason I'm watching the Academy Awards this year. We just watched The Social Network this afternoon and I enjoyed it, but I'm rooting for The King's Speech to take Best Picture!

I was flipping channels last night between Criminal Minds and NCIS....I am an addict for sure.....Just the last year after my granddaughter introduced me to these types of shows....csi Las Vegas, CSI NY, and CSI Miami...and then came NCIS and then Criminal Minds and I agree with your daughter....HE IS SOMETHING ELSE....almost said he was hot but AM I to old to say that????

Acwsmom...Hello, I am Marie and I am a moderator here but the ladies and an occasional guy let me stay....hahaha......I am from Maine and we are having another day off from school today.....well our part of Maine is..They had school vacation last week and today we are in for snow up to 6 and then ice and sleet so basically a Maine day.......I am old...I have two grown kids and four grandkids.......two are 21 and 19 and the bottom two are 4 and 6.....I am lucky to LOVE DISNEY as I got a chance....even a brief chance to meet some of the great ladies here........Welcome and hope you stay around and post often.

See you later gators..I think Ava is on her way.....bye

:welcome: AC !

The more the merrier as the rest said. I am the Canadian of the bunch. Where does your sister live? I have a 13 year old boy that is going on 18 and a 10 year old dd but she is the good one so far. :lmao:

Lynette--:yay: on getting a new job. I am like you I hate change of any kind. Maybe that is why I didn't mind working in a factory for years. Went in did my job , socialized went home.

Marita-- What were your nightmares about...

Moo-- No Oscars for me either, watched Amazing Race then the tv went off. Got Hannah bathed and in bed , then went to bed and read myself.

Pumba-- no snow day here but all around us there is. Had freezing rain over night now the temp is up but suppose to drop over the day. Our power went out three times last night , i knew this because the smoke alarm beeps. :headache:

Welcome to the group, AC. That makes me think of AC/DC. Are you a fan? I think several of us used to enjoy "Back In Black" at one time. hehe I'm kinda like Lynette, in that I used to be here more, but I now work all the time so that we can be DEBT FREE some day, so my attendance is spotty. But I am "pleased to meetcha"

Lynette: I am overjoyed that you will be gainfully employed AND you will be getting a pay raise. I'm sure the first thing you plan to do is to invite all us Mooovers, on an all expense paid trip to WDW. Correct?

Moo and other Oscar watchers: I caught the very end when Natalie Portman won and watched the last few minutes. I do really want to see "The King's Speech". Several of my friends have highly recommended it.

Twink: Because we are sealed by blood and brownie....How YOU doin'?
2.gif

Et al: Have a nice day. I'm off to birth babies in a few hours!

We know you are going to help birth babies but our new person would think you are going to have them yourself...how many we talking. :lmao:

Pumba, c'mon down and watch TV with me! I love NCIS too, although I only recently began watching it. Same with Criminal Minds.

1. Awww! I remember that "other place". We all seemed to have so much time for dreck and drivel then, didn't we?

2. Um. Er. Yes? :rolleyes1

Or maybe we could just "randomly" bump into each other at a WDW restaurant? Say, Whispering Canyon? I'll be the one skipping through the lobby. ;)

I popped in to say hey and to take a break from some Disney math. I am in the process of planning a trip to the World for my DBro, his GF and their combined 5 kids. They want to go in mid-October so they can do MNSSHP. So far, there aren't any really good promos for after October 1, so I'm probably going to have them book the trip and cross their appendages for either a PIN or a gen-pop discount. My brother and his 4 kids have never been to Disney (imagine that?!), so I really want them to have an amazing time. His GF has only been a few times, and she's always paid rack rate. That'll never do! So she asked if I would help her plan. :goodvibes

Boris and Natasha went back to school this morning. Surprisingly, they were both out of bed before me today. Natasha tells me there are only 73 more school days left in this school year. We aren't quite in the home stretch, but at least we're getting there!

I also managed to get my grocery shopping done this morning, despite TORRENTIAL rain. I wasn't thrilled about getting soaked, but at least it's not snow, right?

I may go bake something just to put the oven on and take the dampness out of the house. Back later!

Thanks for the welcome NAB! My sister lives in Vancouver where her husband is working on finishing up his doctoral degree in geology at one of the universities there. He loves studying (and talking about) rocks. Yeah, he's a ton of fun to be around, but we love him anyway! :) Anyway, my sister loves living up there and keeps trying to get us to visit, but our extra cash just seems to keep taking us to Disney! But I really do hope we manage to make it up there someday. It just looks like such a beautiful area!!

You know, I can honestly say that I don't remember listening to AC/DC. I knew they were around and had heard some of their music but I guess I just wasn't into them. :confused3 I think I was too busy trying to sneak in Aerosmith, Guns N Roses, Bon Jovi and basically everything else I wasn't supposed to listen to. :goodvibes

I completely understand on the whole working to get debt free! We'll be there soon (hopefully). I work because I have to - DH works in the music industry...making no money. But he also works a second job to help us get debt free. We're big Dave Ramsey fans and have been proud of paying cash for our last three Disney vacations.

Sounds like you have a wonderful job, though! I work with nurses all day long and love it. I'm not a nurse myself but do the event planning for their educational programs. They are some of the best people I've ever worked with. Then again, after sitting through some of their educational programs and setting up some of their trainings online, I'm quickly discovering why I never went into nursing. If I look at one more picture of a pressure ulcer, I think I'm gonna hurl. But delivering babies all day long sounds wonderful!

the rumors about me...are most likely, true. however, that's another
story. nor have i've been ignoring [ great pictures nabby girl ] but
no matter, how i try to live a nice , quiet life, the more things i have
end-up doing.

went thru our dvc vacation. [ i think- i have every single person working
@ the dvc office ticked off by the ?'s i am asking. i noticed when i
popped in, their "looks" are quite....! then i speak, :scared1:. ]

research & statistics are things i like to do , by nature. and when
i started looking what the data is taking me, can go a long way in
discovery. so what i discovered about dvc ?, there are significant
potential for misuse, esp. due to a lack of monitors. rationalization &
ignoring problems are routine responses. [ some things were never
explained, does not means it wasn't true or forgotten.]

not only our second room was badly beaten up [ think rock stars!]
we saw things i thought i would never see @ any wdw resort.
[ like prostitutes ]. ok? christmas night a so called worker bolted
into our room. turn down @ 10:30, right??! dvc blowing it off....but
fyi, the front desk was not aware. [ we have done multiple dcl cruises,
so we are experienced with real turn-down service. ] previous bent
the door stop, but completely ripped the other one, leaving a hole.

anyhoo, as you can see with all this data collecting, & processing ,
is keeping me more busy with our dvc project. for example, we
had to keep tract of our young sons, wanting to hangout by themselves.
these intoxicated & under-dressed, [ no under garments] &
offering porn-motions "ladies", forced us to keep an "eye" on our
sons whereabouts [ inside blt]. i felt liked i was back @ work...speaking
of,

this also a golden year for us/me. i can retire anytime! after 30 years, it
something that never seem possible. party: . my neighbor saga ,
is trying like heck to sale his house, darn economy! recently, someone
cut up an old tree blocking the logging road. it may have something
to do with 2-four wheelers finding a board with pointed nails. [ it
was the only way to get the disable 4-wheelers out. ] . funny thing,
sure has cut down the trespassing. sure, the sun don't shine on the same
dog :dog: everyday, but don't you love it..when its your turn. woof!

here's a few observations on some of the recent topics,

bullying- the poster who expressed good feelings about her bully being
paralyzed- i think the other posters missed the point. the poster was
expressing left-over anger from being a victim. & while it may sounded
harsh, her feelings were created by the bully. the problem in society is
a lazy attitude [ not wanting to get involve] & lack of compassion for
a victim. what others ignore, is a major reason dangerous behaviors
progress to the next level.

currently , i 'm on another thread about adults only for the top
of the world lounge. i added some of my observations of the risk
factors we experienced. [ blt isn't a secure area & from the
type of activities we saw, there are people taking advantage of
no security personnel- & i think some are cast members. ] anyhoo,
some stranger tried to make a "joke" of my observations. i will
offer him an education so others don't get the wrong idea. it isn't
a joke, but it is predictable. [ wish i had a nickel for every observation
someone try to take them in another direction.]. i never joke around
when the safety of my family is @ stake. so you know, i 'll be using
"reality orientation" [ my #1 intervention] when redirecting this
issue. [ so if your bored, you might find it interesting - when i get
to it. how much you want to bet, he'll never see the facts coming?]

nancy g. was way out of line. she isn't a nurse and had no right
deciding if the nurses were in the wrong- out in calif.. worst, her actions
most likely is covering the factors leading up to the incident. nurses
are in not charge of md's! those rn's working the area , did not decide
the hospital policies. this is [ flesh-destroying bacteria ] a very
rare situation, and therefore, how the child was exposed should be
look @. blaming is ineffective coping, and what should be done,
is to research all the factors for prevention. by the way did you all
read about the researcher forging false results, regarding autism? now
many did not get vaccines...because of this. what some do for money
is a never-ending story.

how's your winter? has mankind did anything recently that might
have resulted in a shift of the world axis? maybe the oil blowing out
of the gulf last summer?

why do we need to teach our youth the importance of respecting/
treating others. human dynamics 101, your own successes &
well being in life will always be depends on others. one cannot
maintain sanity or find happiness without interacting with others.
bullying hurts the bullys most, in time. that's why we teach,"feeling
sorry for oneself is ineffective coping...because for others to care
about "you", one must show all the good things one can be not
the bad. wow! i didn't invent this system but i have great respect to
the "one" that did.

seeking happiness via one's value system, is worth the time
& effort. :flower3:

oh. wt? did you see the sugar bowl?, the way osu won..really made
me wonder.....some of the calls? & even though 'the game" was
handed to arkansas, they gave it right back to osu. a higher power?

can't they required referees to be fair to both teams? moo? as for
msu , [ i got to interact with the team/band in orlando again]. just one
of those games- where nothing went right. still, what an amazing
story they had. [ your coach still have alot buckeye fans, except
for one game of the year...:rolleyes1 ]

have you guys heard the nude rumor? w.t. actual identity is martin S..
well it does put bread on the table.

I popped in to say hey
I am so tired. I added an extra o to your popped. :rolleyes1 I couldn't figure out where your potty mouth came from! I expect those things from babynurse, but not the Mahtha Stewart of Mass. ;)

lil g - hi! good to see you!

ac - I didn't get a chance to email you today. I'll do it in the morning. or now, but my purse is so far away! ha.

Heya, LilG. Long time no see. I guess this time of the year brings everyone back around these parts, huh?

Just checking in. I think I'm ready to start my new job tomorrow. I'm angsty, but I'll get over it. New bossman emailed to let me know he won't be in the office until 11:30, so I don't have to be there until then. He doesn't like to sit in rush hour traffic, so he almost never gets to the office until late morning. Good for me!

When I took Natasha to her guitar lesson today, her instructor found a crack in her guitar. Next thing I knew I was putting money down on a brand new one. I didn't really need to spend money on a guitar at this point in my life, but I did get a REALLY great deal on this one. :thumbsup2 Plus, Natasha's b-day is at the end of March, so we'll count the guitar as one of her b-day gifts. Oy.

Welp, I'm off to check my games over yonder. Night, y'all!

ETA: Ha, Cel! I would nevah! ;-P

Hi, Lil G! Goog to see you again. Sorry you didn't have such a great experience at BLT. I've seen lots of comments on how beat up the furniture is already :( My boss's son and hubby went to Orlando for the MSU game this year and managed to work in a day at Epcot. Glad you got a chance to see some MSU folks again!

Lynette - Forgot to let you know that I'd be away for a work-related meeting tonight. Heading over to play my games. Wish I hadn't had to go. I slipped on ice in the parking lot and banged up my bad knee plus some other stuff didn't go so great during the meeting. Grrr. Putting some ice on my knee, self-medicating with a glass of wine, and hoping it's not too bad in the morning

Morning everyone...

Today the sun is out......I always think that the sun can make the world better...YUP it is gorgeous out....UNTIL I took Megara out to go potty.....the wind just about knocked me over.....where did that come from....No Ava today.....my day off....But I have a blood sugar and BP recheck today....I know my BS is doing good because my morning checks have been FABULOUS...I LOVE IT when I can test and see that it is back to where i was when I first was diagnosed......I am trying so hard to be good and not have to go on meds.....Please say a little one for me today...The doctor said if it didnt go down I would have to go on meds......and I have kept it under the 7 for A1C the last five years....but I went from 5.9 to 6.7 in 5 months....so I think I have done good....BP was good in January but she changed my meds and wants to make sure that they are good and I am not fibbing......I dont fib on something like this......

Hope you all have a good day...sun, wind, rain, or just a regular cold day.....

Wow a Lil'G sighting too! It must be homecoming week.:lmao: Sorry about all you DVC problems.

Lynnette-- Hope you love your new boss. The hours sound great that's for sure.

Moo--Ouch hope your knee is ok today.

Pumba-- We have sun too but the weather man says it is -7 feels like -11 so I will bundle up when I take the kids to school.

Hubby is off today so I am sure I won't be home...don't know what it is that we do this. Makes me wonder what his retirement woudl be like. We can't go our all the time, I would never get anything done. But them again it would be two of us how messy can a house get.....

Happy March everyone...closer to spring! And me being a year older.
