Hello, everyone.

I'm looking for prayers if y'all can spare them. My town was thrown for a loop earlier this week by a horrible accident. A woman who is very well-known for being an avid walker/bike rider was out for her daily walk earlier this week. Less than a mile from her house, she was struck by a car and killed on Main Street. She was 51. The driver of the car was a 43 y.o. man whose driving was impaired by prescription medications. Those meds were prescribed for him after he lost his 21-month old son to cancer recently. The whole town has been affected, since the woman was the sort of person who was very gregarious, always stopping to chat with people she met while walking. I didn't know her well, but it's really such a horrible situation. She had called her husband shortly before the accident to ask him to start lunch for them both, and she told him she was about 10 minutes away from the house. When she didn't show up within that time frame, he went out looking for her and happened upon the accident scene. By that point, the state and town police were there, along with an ambulance, and the whole street was blocked off. I can't imagine how awful that was for him. So sad!

The whole incident has made me very appreciative of my own lot in life. No matter what small matters are affecting my day-to-day life, I'm so very thankful to NOT be dealing with the sorts of tragedy either of these families is living through right now.

MommyP, I never heard of Monavie or TEAM until your post. But I'm surprised any church would allow such behavior. Church is really the last place anyone should feel pressured to buy into a "business venture". Ugh. And Cel, I was thinking the same thing about the moneychangers.

Did I tell y'all the story about the mom who approached me at one of my Girl Scout meetings last year to have an Athena home party? :scared: Once I found out what sort of company Athena is, I almost keeled over. Not only did this lady, whom I hardly know, approach me at a Girl Scout meeting, but it was being held inside a church! Eeeeesh!

Oh, and on a brighter note, I had an interview on Thursday for a job that sounds like it would be perfect for me. If y'all have any spare pixie dust, I'd love some!

Nabbie - I would suggest using the unscented dryer sheets if you don't already. It's the volatile organic compounds that are part of the fragrance chemicals that can cause problems like allergic reactions and airway inflammation.

Lynette - Accidents like that make me so sad :grouphug: So sorry to hear about your community's loss. My office is still having a hard time dealing with the recent loss of our coworker. Different circumstances, but it's always very difficult to senselessly lose such good people so young.

On a more positive note, I'm sending lots of prayers and pixie dust your way for your job situation! pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Hi, Cel!

I had my reflexology appointment early this afternoon and am just planning on bumlaying the rest of the day, with a bit of cooking thrown in!

Howdy partners...

I agree on the hand crap...I cant do much on the fragrances...makes me have a head ache and itchy eyes......So we use arm and hammer for the clothes with no scent and no perfumes.....same with fabric softener......no scent but my clothes are soft.....hahaha...
My hands were cracked earlier this winter..because sometimes with AVA I wash my hands or rinse them off and then dont get a good dry in.....so crack city....
My DIL bought me some Mary Kay stuff for my hands......I do it maybe once a month if I remember...hahaha.....it is four steps and omg my hands come out soft as a babys butt...but alot of trouble if I dont have time ...or MAKE TIME..

so tomorrow another dinner .....but this time for our kids and the two youngest rug rats......its our daughters birthday tomorrow and our DIL was this past Monday so we celebrate them together.......so lasagna, salad, bread and gingerbread with whipped cream...cause no one is fond of cakes....Our son and son in law are in November and our son was born on Turkey day so they usually get a pie for their birthday dinner...

So tomorrow another dinner and another mess in the kitchen and another me cooking all day.....maybe they should take me out to eat instead of me cooking for the troops.........naaaaaaaa.....I do like to feed the troops though..

Hope you all have a great night.

Prayers and hugs sent. Such a sad story ... and BEST of luck on the job! I'm with ya!!!!!

Never heard of Athena, heh heh, my kinda thing. Tacky at a GS meeting or church setting.

two young men from Maine died this past week......one died at boot camp from the H1N1 plus pnemonia added to it.......and the other young man was my sister and bil's nephew........he died in a car accident in Texas I think....He was a Coast Guard Cadet studying to go to New London Ct to the Academy......so two young men gone......this woman that Lynette posted about......so young to be gone........
Prayers going to all ...AND pixie dust and prayers for your job ...GOOD LUCK..

Stay healthy and happy my friends.........February is almost over and March will be here in a few.....

Lynette, wow, how tragic for both families. Very sad.

Sending you lots of pixie dust for the job!pixiedust:

Wendy, joining you over on your trippiepopcorn::

Cel, my cell phone is usually permanently parked in my car, I only have it for emergencies. I'll try to remember to take it with me though and send you my home and office numbers.

In local news, I finally (after 4 months!) got my nails done :yay: Just makes me feel better, it does nothing for my face or figure though  I could barely close my pants on Friday.
Also, my co-worker Khaki is getting married in August, I just found out. A little twist though, her bride/groom (?) is another female. They are planning on flying up to Vermont for the legal wedding, then a week later a reception down in Ft. Lauderdale. So I guess some wedding plan discussions will be in my work future.

Settling in for another "When Harry met Sally" night

Wendy - I bookmarked your link. Would love to hear a new trip report from you.

We went to the beach today. The water was the same color as the sky. No kidding, you couldn't tell where the water ended and the sky started. So pretty. :) It's been SO long since we'd been. It was great. A family from church met us there and after we pulled in my sister and her husband pulled in. lol. Didn't even know they were coming!

LUCKY PEOPLE....

to go to the beach would be amazing.......only 10 inches of the dreaded white stuff......at least it wasnt the foot....hahha...another storm coming in for this evening into tomorrow and then YES YES YES RAIN......
I DONT CARE I LOVE RAIN.......hahaha...

night

Well we are getting snow here, I just came in from shoveling but will have to do it again in the morning I'm sure. They are calling for rain too. Just hope it isn't the freezng kind.

One of Nicholas friends called at dinner time and asked if he could hang out tonight. I was about to say ok but then Nicholas said he wants to stay the night too his parents are going away for the night..... First thing I said was no we have to be up early for church and these two do not sleep when together at night. This is the same boy that got kicked out of the dance for touching a girl that didn't want to be touched and lied about who he was. He is a Eddie Haskel. All nice to you and when I hear them talking together a whole different thing. Anyway his mother got on the phone and pleaded with me that he would go to church and be a good boy. Then she said he is pushing her to talk to me. I felt bad but stuck to my guns and said it was a bad time. She sounded so defeated, I felt bad for saying no. :sad2:

I thought Nicholas would be mad for me saying no but he wasn't , that was a surprise.

Lynette-- prayers for all the families involved and pixie dust for you new job.

Pumba-- you are always entertaining. You must be the person who on House Hunters says this house if great for entertaining. I always wonder how much entertaining would one do.

Wendy -- I will checking out your trip report. You are a talented trip reporter.

Mommy P -- the beach sounds lovely. I miss Castway Cay and the blue/green water and white sand.

Christmas party for both sides, then two Feb birthdays (but together), then Easter, then Family Gathering in August, then November Thanksgiving and two birthdays...then Christmas in Dec...
That is it......but one of my wants in the new house is either a big big kitchen or a dining room separate from the kitchen......not to much to ask for is it...hahaha..

just told hubby this morning (I was awake for a few hours in the middle of the night and thought this up)...that we need to be closer to the city and not out in the boonies.....cause if we get REALLY OLD in the new house ...we need to get to the doctors and the stores and stuff without asking the kids all the time.....not fair to them to have to babysit their parents......I am just thinking ahead for now

Forgot to add.....good for sticking to your guns on the sleep over juvenile brat......and if Nicholas didnt yell and scream , he didnt really care.....right???

YAYeeee on the nails getting done.
Khaki sounds entertaining. Good for her! I think.

Sounds like FUN! I'll think of you today as I shovel snow.

I love that you have such a strong church family. I found one I just LOVE. It's an Assembly of God (I had to ask, it seems non-denominational) and the pastor is FUNNY! He has this perfect blend of science, humor, and nerdy life experience that is so engaging. Best thing...kids go to KIDS CHURCH (unlike the Mormon church where all babies/kids stay in Church making it SO loud and stressful) and...there's a coffee shop in the lobby that looks and feels JUST like a Starbucks (without the retail). We call it the Jesus Starbucks Church. I'm pretty sure God thinks that's funny

Eddi Haskel has entertainment value. Manners meet Smarty Pants. We have one of those around here too. Polite as a 1950's sitcom until you over hear any conversation. He kisses his mama with that potty mouth!

Snowing here too. A foot of that vile white blankity-blank.

Thank you for the complement.

Ahem.

I have an announcement! I, your friendly neighborhood Lalijack, am now

GAINFULLY EMPLOYED!!!!!

Can I get a w00t up in here?

This new job is chock full of awesome! I'm now the buyer for a gourmet/imported foods website. I will be working 25 hours per week (that's 3-5 hours/week less than the last gig). Only SIX of those hours will be outside my home! Amazing, right? Well, in addition to that, I get an additional week of vacation PLUS a 40% increase in pay! I am toadily this guy------>:woohoo:

I start Tuesday. I'll be training at the office for 3ish hours/day for the first 2 weeks, and then I need only be there 6 hours each week. Wahoooooo!!!!!

So thank you to anyone who remembered me in their prayers! God was surely listening! :cloud9:

Wendy, congrats on planning a trip! I agree that a goodly part of the magic is in planning!

Pumba, over the past 2 days we've gotten another 7 inches of snow. :sad2: Just when we were finally getting to see the ground for the first time since before Christmas! Urgh!

MommyP, I envy your trip to the beach! I could sure use a day of sun and sand right about now!

Everyone else:

Okay, I'm off to get some laundry done, and then Big Daddy is taking us out to dinner to celebrate my new job! See y'all later!

wendy - glad you found a church you like! (also glad it's not Mormon. :) We can be real on here, right? I love you!)

our church has a starbucks esque store too. My mom thinks we're going to hell! :lmao:

nab - good for sticking to your guns. What kind of parents wait until the last minute to make arrangements for their kids when they're going out of town? :confused3 Weird.

lalijack - Yay! I never did hear what happened with CBM, but I'm sure the new place will be a blessing - even if there are crazy people there, they can't top CBM! (knock on wood)

I have permanent help on Sundays with my 2 year olds! Her name is Amanda and her and her husband are both Disney addicts too! This could be bad for both of us since we're all trying to do the Financial Peace recommendations.
She's on the disboards too, and I told her the name of our group, so she might drop by.

Pumba - How far are you from Maine's shore?

Marita - I told my friends about you last night. They're looking forward to meeting you! I'm thinking either Wednesday or Thursday would be good.

Lynette - That is FANTASTIC news!!!!!!! :woohoo: So happy for you!

Cel - Yay for your upcoming trip and help with your kids on Sundays! :goodvibes

Nabbie - Can I just say that I'm very happy to be an empty nester not having to deal with kids' issues? I think you handled that well and am glad Nicholas went along with it.

We got a bit of the white stuff overnight. Not as much snow as Wendy, thank googness!!! Hubby was out with the four-wheeler clearing the driveway and walks. Thrilled that I never have to shovel :thumbsup2

MommyP - I'm very jealous of your beach trip! Glad you're able to go and enjoy it with your family.

Lynette, Woohoo on your new gig! This is for you: :cool1::banana::worship:

Cel, cool about getting help at work. Wednedsday or Thursday should work for me right now

Well, I got my other goal for the weekend accomplished (besides finally getting nails done) to color my hair. Gray roots should be outlawed!!

Another forecast week next week :sad2:

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE JOB>>>>WOOOOT WOOOOOT>.

We could be at the shore in 45 minutes or so.......I love the Ocean....there is one place called Lands End....not the clothes place but an actual place ...I love to go and sit on the rocks near this big statue of the FISHERMAN ...in honor of those who have died out there working ...It is even beautiful when the fog is thick and you can sit and listen to the fog horn....once I sat on this rock and watched the Russian trawlers out of the range......totally awesome..
My sister and her husband owns a place in Harpswell Maine.......it is on the cove and just so peaceful there.....It was the place my sister wanted to go to the week before she died.....she had peace there and loved the calmness of the tide going in and out......yup my kind of place too..

We are in the 60 day mark before we go to the House of the Mouse.......I AM SO READY....another storm coming in for tonight and tomorrow.....YUCK

Ok, I couldn't help it! I had to come find you! :rotfl: Never visited this part of the disboards before so just thought I'd say hi. :wave2:

I was really proud of our decision to be financially smart this year and skip WDW, and change our annual trips into every other year. It helps when I work with a bunch of people who look at me like I sprout horns every time I talk about Disney. But working with another addict every Sunday may get me in serious trouble - especially when you ditch me with 15 2 year olds for two weeks in a row to visit our happy place!!!

Hiya, acwsmom!! Pleased to meet you! Welcome to our little corner of the DIS! Some of us (like me!) have spotty attendance records 'round here, and others show up more regularly. Tell us about yourself! popcorn::

Y'all: thanks for the well wishes and congratulations on my new gig! I am really looking forward to it, but I'm a bit nervous as well. I thrive on the familiar, so stepping into a new situation makes me a bit angsty. Gah.

NAB, forgot to say yesterpage that I am proud of you for sticking to your guns about that Eddie Haskell-esque boy. Who needs to be a last minute dumping ground for someone else's kid so the parents can frolic about carefree?! Good for you for saying no!
