Well I joined a thread that's for drivers of over 2,000 miles round trip. That one is fine.

Then I commented on one about being fed up with airline prices and choosing to drive as a result, OMG.

I think everyone on that board that is in favor of flying works for the airlines.

They went as far as to price flights from posters home towns and compare the cost of driving, per mile, with gas rates etc. and practically make fun of them for choosing "the more expensive route". Not to mention the hotel nights, food for the day, etc. the time people have on their hands just to make a point.

I simply said, it's a matter of principle for us. I don't have to pay their rates and I won't. Charges for baggage is just about the cost of an extra ticket for us.

Oh the heavens have opened up on us!

I guess we will probably be one of those that will have to do the driving part.....air is soooooo high and then our bags, and then rent a car from MCO to our new place......So we are anticipating driving to the joint and bringing some of the stuff we would need right away....blow up bed, bedding, towels and coffee.....just the essentials..then get more in Florida

Nabbie - Dawn dish soap would probably work if it's oil-based, just don't get it in Hannah's eyes! I had a heck of a time washing off waterproof sunscreen on Sunday, so I didn't end up using any the next day and got burned a bit.

bbn - Sounds like a spectacular day at the Indy 500! You're going to need another job with two teen drivers!!!

Mony - Hope we don't run into any bad storms. We went through a couple yesterday. My hubby wants to drive to Florida next time. I told him I'll see him when he gets down there! I hate going through the mountains. Glad we are finally out of them.

Hi all! We made it through a crazy Memorial Day weekend, and are now in the home stretch of the school year.....Boris and Natasha get out 2 weeks from today. YAY!

Don't have oodles of time to post, but NAB, you should try a clarifying shampoo on Hannah's hair. Pantene makes a good one...it works when Natasha gets sunscreen, bugspray, whatever in her hair. Hope it helps!

Gotta get back to work (blech!). Have a great day, y'all!

Thanks for the suggestions! The bug spray in question is Off skintastic with a moisturiser in it.

Lynette-- our kids don't get out until June 29th. But take away the weekends that leaves 19 more school days. With field trips, plays, track meet and you name it at the end of the school year. I'm just happy they are in an air conditioned school. We never had that.

Moo-- try doing the mountians with a trailer on the back. Glad your out of them now. They are calling for storms around 5:00 here. Hope you miss them, hate driving in heavy rain.

We got home in one piece around 6 tonight without going through any storms. Too late to spring the pups from the kennel, so it's pretty quiet here tonight. I went out and did a little grocery shopping and now I'm doing laundry and trying to unwind. With a glass of wine

Nabbie - Maybe hauling a trailer would have made my hubby drive a little slower!!! But I know what you mean. Those curves are hard to take just in a car. We went by lots of cars hauling trailers where they were going side to side. Scary. I didn't like driving near motorcyclists either. Especially the ones who weren't wearing helmets in a couple of states. Yikes.

Marita - Forgot to say congrats about your son's raise. That's awesome! Hope you get through your budget stuff and can relax soon.

In other news, a good friend of mine's family decided to go to WDW to celebrate her mom's 80th birthday. They want to go 6/21-24 and have a party of five. I told her how much to expect rooms and tickets to be so she wouldn't have sticker shock and she wasn't too horrified. Some deluxe rooms were showing up on-line, but I'm going to see if there's availability for DVC accommodations somewhere. Hate to see what the rack rate for that will be. I offered to hire out as their guide! Too bad I don't have much vacation time left because I could at least get them the DVC member rate if there's anything available!!!

Moo, Yay for getting home safely and a great vacation!

Nab, I hate driving in heavy rain too. Especially bad in the summer here where it tends to hit right around commute home time and I'm on the road for an hour and you can't see 10 feet.

Im beat! Fried! Done 5 ways from Sunday! New girl has been no help (or very little so far) with helping out her old place and training people there and other stuff, so I have been working for 2 people at an already crazy time. I need time off!!!

Speaking of which, DS called tonight and said he put in for vacation for early November and for Christmas. Planning on a cruise in November, maybe with the whole famiy. He mentioned a 7 day cruise ($1,000 PP for the week with Senior discount (yes, hubby and I qualify, sobb!) I dont think we can swing a 7 day cruise with time off, but 4 would be nice. I need it so bad! Novermber is supposed to be a great time for cruise prices.

Yesterday boss called us all in and said he is leaving the company to take a VP position somewhere with a big raise. No idea yet who might replace him, so that is hanging out there too. Did I mention DD might move back home in August? As the world turns.... so are the days of our lives - or something like that.

good morning everyone.

its raining right now and hopefully we wont have a thunderboomer.....never mind ......talked to soon .

I have Ava and my granddaughter Megan today...they are playing so far good.....

Megara is hiding under my legs.....she heard the first noisemaker from up above in the sky......geesh..

SO anywho.......today is Thursday ...YIPPEE.....one more day and the weekend is here.......I could handle it.....is it four day week or is it a three day weekend....oh well....either way I could enjoy it.

OOPS ...its not a thunder boomer ...its a dumpster thingie........geesh......I need to sedate this dog.......

Raining here too. Nicholas baseball was canceled the field flooded from last nights rain and it just rained again.

Spent the day getting ready for the yard sale on Saturday. Our subdivision does this every year on the first Saturday in June. Tons of people come. So you don't have to advertise or anything. Now if the rain holds off for Saturday , it is calling for off and on showers.

Moo-- tried the dish soap on Hannah's hair. Didn't have Dawn so I tried Sunlight. I seems to be a lot better but still has some on the ends. Maybe a few more washes and it will be out. Way better then what it was. I am going to look for that clarifying shampoo this weekend just in case. Wouldn't hurt that is for sure.

Marita-- They are going to take you away ....haha. your last post was pretty funny. You sound pretty stressed.

Back to work today. Had a meeting, so it wasn't too bad, but I didn't have a chance to see my BFF. Should be able to see her tomorrow.

I picked up the pups after work. They didn't seem all that excited to see me so I guess they got used to being at the kennel! I think they are glad to be home though.

I'm going to meet with my other friend about WDW trip planning at lunch tomorrow. Looking forward to that! So far, it is looking like connecting rooms at the Swan might be their best bet. They are celebrating her mom's 80th birthday, are Irish, and love to travel, so I think being close to World Showcase would be ideal for them.

Left at 8:15 this morning for 6 hours at Glen Peters, then headed down to WSU for my class and didn't get home until 8:45pm after stopping at the bank and the store for milk.

This day was one of "those" days.

It was Special Olympic day and we wheeled our students in the halls to give our atheletes a good cheery send off, one of the para-pros from our room was in the process of moving a student from a chair to her wheelchair and fainted!:scared1: Luckily no one was hurt but she was sent home and we all encouraged her to go straight to the ER to get checked out. She's older in age.

The teacher noticed a wheel on one of the wheel chairs was about to fall off. Some button was hit causing the locking mechanism to unlock.:scared1:

Then we found a brake part to one of the chairs on the floor.

One student ripped her strap off of her tray that attaches to her chair. I took her for a long walk today in the walking chair and she DID NOT WANT TO GO BACK TO SITTING.

Then at the end of the day one of the students stopped breathing and we had to call a code in her room. The student is fine. The parents don't supply a sucking thing for the school and she really struggles with breathing and fluid build up. She turned purple and it was so fast and so crazy for a few minutes.

The teacher commented that I probably don't want to be a teacher in an SXI room. That did shake me up, but it doesn't deter me. I see just how much those kids need us and I'm getting so attached to them. I have a hard time dealing with when it ends.

I like getting the kids off of the buses. It gives you more opportunites to interact with all of the students.

I think I need to call it a night!:cloud9:

Yikes, Mony, what a day for you! I admire you for dealing with that, I don't think I could do it.

Moo, glad the pups are back home with you. It's funny to me how people on the boards have better tips for vacations than I have after 38 years of working for Disney, just never vacationed there.

Had a crazy morning today, but then it calmed down this afternoon. I am pretty worn out. Getting ready for a VP presention rehearsal on Tuesday, but I only worked till about 8 tonight, woohoo! More to come this weekend, but that's ok, i can handle a few hours on the weekend without huge pressure.

Tomorow is normal morning with just stuff to take care of, unless something unexpected pops up (again!), then a training class all afternoon at AKL.

Found out tonight that my boss from the last job I had is leaving too, going to Financial Systems, which is totally different from what she is doing now. So apart from missing her as a person, it will be interesting to see who gets that job, as that influences a ton of my work,

Other than that, no big news today.

Oh wait, one other thing. I am getting my picture taken for the leadership board near the cafeteria on Monday. I HATE getting my picture taken, I always look horrible (which is probably the way I look but I don't want to admit it). It will be taken outside by the lake, so I am hoping I can wear sunglasses, I think at least 1 other person did. At least with digital they can retake it till we get a half way decent one. This is like 8x10 too, so it shows all the wrinkles, blech!

Mony, that does sound like one heck of a day! Makes me appreciate my boring job  I could never work in that field, but my hat is off to you and others that do :thumbsup2

Marita - Maybe you need to get a makeover this weekend! ;) Wearing sunglasses for your photo is a great idea. That way you don't have to worry about having your eyes closed. If I know there's going to be a flash, I have a hard time having a decent photo taken where my eyes are open. Sometimes I end up looking like this:  Because I open my eyes wide to try to keep from blinking, LOL!

Be sure to wear an outfit that you really like or that people compliment you on when you wear it :goodvibes

I find having my photo taken lately to be pretty interesting because I have trouble visualizing what my actual size is now in comparison to other people. It's something called body dismorphism that a lot of people who lose a significant amount of weight have. I think anorexics have a similar problem.

Picnic day for my Kindergartener! Looks like I'm taking the day care crew with me, oh well, it's the only way that I can be there.

The pictures on Yahoo of the animals drenched in oil has me in a tizzy! So pipping mad. I sit here banging my head cause I want to do something, but I don't know what.

Moo I think you look awesome, I am very happy for you and your success. And I agree with your suggestions to Martia.

The sun is shining it was suppose to be raining today. Hope that means we won't get the rain tomorrow either or all my hard work getting ready for the yard sale will be for nothing. I won't do it in the rain even though crazy garage sale people still come.

Moo-- I am that way, I will ask hubby all the time. Am I that big ,or do I look like that person. I am big but hubby says I think I am way bigger them I am. He is probably lying to me, just like the question does my gut look hug in this....it's not my butt I have trouble with.

Marita--Congrats on the leadership board. You will look fabulous.

Thanks, Mony! Hope you had good weather today!!! It sure rained hard here this evening. The sky really opened up right after my workout, so I had to sit tight for a few minutes until the downpour slowed down.

I posted a link to Mari's vacation photos over on FB. She took a few pics of me and Don.

Nabbie - I never ask my hubby how I look in something . . . I know that's just asking for trouble!!!! I just go with what I like and figure there's no way to make my butt look smaller than it actually is, LOL

Hope your garage sale goes well :thumbsup2 I'm hoping to get out and about tomorrow if it's decent outside.

Hi all, I am multitasking right now, updateting Business review files to send them out and cancel all meetings for June, no time with budgets. Things are crazy busy and I am stressed to the max.

DD informed me tonight that she might move home as soon as June as she needs to save money to move to Germany in March, maybe, to teach English over there:scared1:
And she sent me a link to some new smoking thing, like put nicotine drops on a cigarett and you get the nicotine but not the odor, which is what she is concerned about for moving home. (sounds too good to be true, maybe comined with something else)

Moo, Nab and Mony, thanks for the picture tips. Planning on getting a haircut Sunday and weaing my new beige suit with a red blouse for a splash of color (red is MY color). Not that I think anybody really pays attention to the pictures, but I will pass it a lot getting lunch and would hate to see myself looking all ugly!

5 or 6 hours sleep and back to work at 8:30 this morning. I sent an email to the Wave chef, and he responded back; "you are working today? do you want some lunch?" That was very nice of him, except I'm at home. I'm starting to freak out with all going on right now, it's crazy!

But for some sanity, I just pulled some weeds from in front of the patio doors and going to cook some dinner. 4 chicken breasts with bone and skin, so I think I will boil those up and make half chicken fricassee with the broth for the sauce, and the other chicken a la King. And go grocery shopping and maybe get a haircut.
Work my have to wait till tonight, I'm exhausted already

Marita - That sounds like an electronic cigarette. I have read about them a lot in the newspaper since Michigan's no smoking in restaurants/bars/work places law went into effect last month. You put in a nicotine cartridge and you can inhale like a cigarette, but when you exhale, it's water vapor, not smoke, so there is no odor. Once you purchase the system, I believe the cost for the cartridges is similar to the cost of buying cigarettes.

Thanks, Moo! Have read if they actually work?

I pulled out the vacuum, but that's as far as I got with actual cleaning LOL. Think I'll go take a shower now and get haircut over with today, I can't get my mind around work right now

UPDATE: not that anyone cares, LOL. Chicken is cooking in the pressure cooker, but hubby came home with a big slab of ready to ear ribs, so I told him to eat that, I'll just put the chicken away for tomorrow.

Vacuming - check!

All other to do's: no check, ugghhhh
