Thank you to all the soldiers that fought for our Freedom and are still out there fighting. And to the families of the soldiers , all are in my thoughts and prayers today.

This one is one of those very flexible recipes. You can do as simple as:

3 chicken breasts
1 jar of regular salsa
1 can of black beans
1 box of frozen OR a can of corn

Last night I did:

3 chicken breasts
1 jar of black bean salsa
1 can of ro*tel
1 box of frozen corn

8 hrs on low. Take out the chicken and shred. Add to soft tacos with a little of the salsa mixture and some sour cream / shredded cheese on top.

Also, if you add a bottle of corona to the crock pot during cooking it will be soupy enough to make a pretty awesome tortilla soup with the left overs! :)

this was a recipe from my husbands cousins daughter in South Carolina....sounds pretty darn good to me

Marita you asked a few weeks ago to see the last 5 years of my Christmas pictures...well here you go.

The kids really changed , my hair never does and well hubby looks the same in all of them. :lmao: Plus Nicholas really needs a hair cut in the last one we just did.

oh the photos are wonderful. And he really doesnt need a hair cut..except for some catholic schools the hair cant touch the collars.........but they look great....I love to see the way they have grown up

Some of my pictures disappeared. Will have to go see if I can fix that.

It is so beautiful outside today. This must be our Indian Summer. This is definitely not Nov. weather. Mind you my mom got married Nov 8th and had an outdooor wedding on their farm. If my dad was alive they would have been married 58 years this year.

Trying to start my Chirstmas shopping. Got a few done, it really helps to know what a person wants or might like. My mom is really easy. Hubby's parents not so much. Hannah is my hard one this year. There is not a number 1 thing this year.

Must go have some lunch since I didn't have breakfast. Went right out after I dropped the kids off at school.

Where is Marita?

Went and had the Church directory pictures done tonight. We were in jeans and causual clothes for this one. Weird I know since this one we should have been more dressy. Had to get Nicholas up from the dance , was so happy he didn't come up with his hair matted down.

One of family ( this one is for the directory) Then they did one of the kids and one of hubby and I. They turned out nice so I wanted copies. :lmao: The lady asked if i wanted paper ones or ones that looked like oil paintings. Well since I just got pictures I said the paper ones were fine. Even though hubby said he would get anything I wanted. Lets put it this way Sears was the better deal for my Christmas cards that is for sure.

Nabbie - My hubby went to Frankenmuth with me today because Debbie and I didn't make it to Bronner's when I met you and your family there. We just had a late lunch in the basement at Zehnder's. We shopped at a few stores in town too. We also went to this shoe store that I like in the area (Bay City) and I found a pair of black slip-on shoes there. We had a gorgeous day . . . 60ish in November. w00t! :)

Nab, love the pics. What a difference in the kids, wow!

I've been down and out with a stomach bug since Wednesday night. Not pretty. It hit me out nowhere on Wednesday night. After running to the bathroom all night long (literally), I was out all day and night yesterday. Went back to work today, but as soon as I got home, I slept again all evening till just a little while ago. Stomach bug is back, but less severe now. I'm so glad it;s the weekend!

Moo, woo on a shopping trip and great weather!

Oh Marita, sorry that you are under the weather...Hope you get some needed rest and feel better soon...

Today the sun is out and MEGARA let me sleep in.....I heard her bark at the paper person and she went back to sleep and so did I.......woke up at quarter past seven.....took her out ... made coffee ....read the newspaper and having my breakfast and coffee here at the puter.

Hubby went hunting with our son......and I would of gone but I have a sore throat.....thinking I have the cold that starts with a raw throat.but will wait it out....

Have to figure out what to have for supper.....any ideas out there in dis land.

have a good day

Marita-- Sorry to here your under the weather. All the stress lately probably wore you down. You have to get better for your up coming cruise.

Sun is out today but it feels cool. It is just me and the kids this weekend so I need to get them outside instead in front of the tv or computer on a nice day.

I don't remember ever having to be entertained as a kid. We were always outside until we were called in. Of course there were 6 of us so we played with each other.

Pumba-- can't help with your meal plan. I am not much of a cook, pretty simple here . Meat , veggie , potatoe, rice or pasta. If it is me and the kids it could be just mac and cheese or tacos.

I had a lovely, relaxing day at home yesterday. Back to work tomorrow :( Wish I could have a four-day weekend every week!!!

Marita - I think Nabbie has it right. The stress probably wore you down. Hope you feel better soon. If you're not on some good vitamins, I'd highly recommend that you take some before your cruise to get your immunity back up. I've only had one cold since I started on my vitamin regimen and that was because I had to go off them for a week before having a colonoscopy. If Vitamin C is rough on your stomach, get some Ester C - it's not acidic and is the only one I can take! I have been taking 1000 mg a day and 5000 mg a day of Vitamin D3 on top of my multivitamins.

Pumba - Hope you're not getting sick  Tomorrow is the start of firearm deer season here in Michigan. We saw lots of people heading north in campers, with four-wheelers, etc. on Friday when we went up to Frankenmuth.

Moo-- lucky you to get to go shopping there again. I bought Hannah's teacher a Christmas ball with is name on it. I am sure he won't get two of those.

It is a rainy day here. Stayed in and did wash and watched the movie Valentine's Day. Definitely a chick flick.

Nicholas was bored today too and none of his friends were home so he asked if he could bake something. I let him make cupcakes from a cake mix. He did really well up until he got to the eggs. We had to fish for egg shells but just for the first one. Didn't crack it hard enough so he used to much strength to open it and broke to pieces. But they turned out well, messy putting them in the pan but he cleaned it up. Hannah put the icing on them. So they both can tell there dad they made cupcakes when he gets home.

Amazing Race and Undercover Boss is on tonight that will make my night go by.

Marita--hope your feeling better today.

hey we can be the posters of the century...
I made mac and cheese tonight with a tossed salad. I do love that...I use NY extra sharp cheddar and it is good with that.

Hubby took Megara for a quick walk....it is cold out and they wont be gone long I doubt......WE didnt get the rain ...I think they said Tuesday and Wed......It makes it so dreary here.

So whats new everyone.......busy time of the year isnt it...

Hope you all have a good night.

and I want a cupcake...:lmao:

Mmm, cupcakes sound good, Nabbie! I didn't really buy too much in Frankenmuth, but it was fun looking and I did pick up a few ornaments at Bronner's for gifts. I also got a wintery scarf I can wear to dress up my plain black and red sweaters during the Christmas season.

While we were at Bronner's, we were looking at the LED pre-lit Christmas trees, but the slim ones I liked were pretty expensive. My hubby had the brilliant idea that we could use wire cutters to trim down our old Christmas tree into a slim one, so I spent several hours this afternoon doing that. I was pretty conservative at first, then I decided to take it down another notch. After I trimmed down the tree, I went to the store and picked up some LED lights on sale. So for my time and under $50, I essentially have what would have cost about $250 to buy.

I've always liked our tree, but it was just too big around for the corner we have to put it in. This is the earliest we've ever put up a Christmas tree, but we probably won't decorate until we get back from visiting Mari for Thanksgiving. I just figured we might as well get some lights and put it where it's going to go! So I vacuumed the area and now I just have to finish putting away the stuff that I had to move to make room for the tree. The LED lights look pretty different from our old lights, but it'll be nice that they use less energy and don't get as warm. I'll try to post a photo later in the week.

Marita...if you have to make some appetizer for your family this holiday....
Remember this recipe I gave you last year.....

Crabmeat mousse...

2 cans of crabmeat drained...does not have to be expensive
1 can cream of mushroom soup...campbells
1 8 oz pkg of cream cheese softened...
1 finely chopped onion
1 cup or less diced celery
1 cup of mayo...has to be mayo
2 and 1/2 tablespoons actually 2 and 1/2 envelopes unflavored knox gelatin
dissolved in 1/2 cup of water

combine everything except the geletin...and heat on stove......while still warm stir in the gelatin mixture and remove from the heat.
Pour in a 5 1/2 cup mold...I use a fish and sometimes I use a jello mold..and refrigerate......
when you want to take it out put the bottom of the mold in some warm water to loosen it and voila......it comes out on the platter.
Now this is where it gets fancy. Get some really good crackers and arrange around the mousse when you are ready to serve it.
Your guests will really love this appetizer...

morning.

I am sitting here in my housecoat .....just me and the dog...its my Tuesday without Ava....so what does the dang dog do.....Wake me at 7 on the button.....my other alarm clock........BUT if I had to get up at seven and had the alarm set......she would sleep thru it.....go figure.

Whats up with everyone today....I guess I will wash the kitchen floor and cupboards.......dont want to but figure I had better do it...
Hope you all have a great day

Pumba-- did you wash your floors. Mine need it really bad now too. I say that to hubby and he tells me not to look at them, lets go out. :lmao:

We were out Christmas shopping but only bought one thing for Hannah. It is called Babysitting Mama for the wii. You put the controler in the back of the plush baby. This baby is about 12" tall. Should be interesting. The tag says it is comic mischief.

Tonight is a busy night. We have to get Hannah to Guides , get to a meeting at the school for Nicholas end of the school trip ( they are going to Montreal) and get Nicholas off to swimming. Then go back and get each one. And there is a warning out for heavy rain all night with a high wind...bad enough the roads look glassy at night when it rains.

--

we too are expecting rains and high winds....geesh....

Montreal.....Brian and I went to the Worlds Fair and had a great honeymoon...so many years ago.....will be 44 years in May.......cant believe that either.

Is the Guides like Girl Scouts???

no didnt do the floor.....but got the cedar chest emptied....it is a solid cedar with brass on the top of it....makes it look like locks.....it is pretty but our daughter is going to take it......and then when she is done with it ..it will go to her daughter ..our first granddaughter........life sure goes on and on and on..

Found one old bedspread that my great grandmother stitched flowers on the top of it......I guess it is called something else ..stitching .....it is really pretty but old.......also an old crocheted tablecloth......I love my stuff...have to find a place to put it before I decide to get rid of that too...
