Don't like my haiku?
Where have I heard that before?
Oh yeah. Here at home.
Twink! It's not that we don't like your haiku!!!!!!!! We were just missing you

Ouch! And sorry about your virus wars. Here is another idea in addition to Lynette's suggestion - I thought I had lost all my January 2007 WDW trip pics because my memory card got corrupted. My techie DH found a program to recover the pics. If your camera uses a memory card, let me know and I'll find out if he remembers the recovery program he used. It even worked to recover photos my DD had transferred and deleted.

Wendy, I started another game! :yay: :yay: :yay:

L, glad the cwaziness of your weekend is over!

Thanks for the  Moo! Goog idea Lynette- only problem with snapfish is my Luddite husband does not approve of my children being "out on the internet"... I think they had high shipping charges too- but really? who am I kidding? I don't go anywhere! I should have them ship it to me. My solution is a lovely 160 GB portable hardrive. Easy to copy the files to it. I think my dad will be able to extract the pictures- I have an external card reader- is that what you mean Moo?

I forgot a bunch of stuff I wanted to say. I will just toadily agree with whatever Lex posts tomorrow morning ;)

but all kidding aside-

PJ- I am so sorry for your loss.
Marita- I hope you get good news about your mom.

Twink, do you insert a memory card into your camera? DH just told me it was a compact flash card (not an SD card). That's what my hubby was able to recover my photos from. He plugged it into a reader then ran a program from the Internet to do the recovery.

Well, at least you FINALLY convinced him that the new-fangled photography really DOESN'T capture their tiny little souls! One hurdle at a time, right?

(Note to Mr. Twink: I know how La Famiglia feels about the family's privacy.... please do not put a horse's head in my bed...I was just joking! ) :scared:

ETA: Did I tell you peeps that the Lalijack family attended HSM on Ice last night? 3rd row seats at center ice, no less! w00t!!! Boris and Natasha were beyond thrilled!!!!!! And I have been singing "Fabulous" ALL DAY LONG.

Yes- my camera has a memory card. It is a compact flash card. It is fine. It is my hard drive with 4 years worth of pictures on it that is caput. Shirley I would not be able to get the pictures off of the flash card which has been rewritten an hundred times. Plus the flash card is only a year old. :confused3
My dad's plan sounds very workable- and if I lose my pictures I do have acess to pictures taken by grandparents- so I just will be missing birthdays and every day stuff- I should have all Christmasses (is that a word? it looks bizarre) and vacations.

Twink, you might be surprised at how many pics are recoverable - DH inadvertently recovered a ton of my daughter's pics from her three week Italy trip between college and grad school. Even though they didn't show up when I had that card in the camera :confused3

Do you still have your old flash card(s)? It might be worth trying if your dad can't recover the pics off your kaput hard drive. I'm just sayin' . . . I was simply amazed and thrilled at what he was able to recover.

1. Yes. He is still worried about how the camera converts the soul into a string of 0s and 1s.
2. Haha!! How did you KNOW?!?
3. I am raisen the roof for ya sistah! Fabulous fo shore!

1. He's a smart guy...::yes:: If I'm you, I gotta respect da man. He says no pics on the internet....fuhgeddaboutit!
2. You KNOW I can't tell you what I know. :cool2:
3. Yep. These were our wicked romantic (TM Pumba) ValentiMe's plans. You're jealous, right?

I need to move major stuff to a flashstick or something befor this laptop dies. Having difficulty with the spacebar now. DH is of NO use for file transfers, and DS will be gone soon. so I better get off my butt.

I had something important to say here, which just now toadily escaped me. So you all got lucky!

Moo-my previous flash card is not readable- the part that pokes into the card reader is broken (Yes that is a technical term) but I will try it on the current card if my dad can't get them off the hard drive.

L- That is a Wicked Romantic Valentime! I would be jealous but I gave up jealousy for lent. :goodvibes

It's always bad news when the poke-y part is broken, Twink ;)

That would tend to make recovery difficult even if the pics were somehow still there.

Hey Moovers,
Checking in at the end of a looong weekend. Too much work and basketball. I'm not up this late, I'm up again. Got home at 7:30 and was asleep by 8.
We got beat today down in Murfreesboro, TN in a game we showed just how bad we can be. But the day wasn't a total loss. Stopped at Demo's on the way home. This is the best steakhouse on the planet. Every steak comes with a side order of spaghetti. And they're only in central Tennessee. Cel, you've eaten there, I bet.
PJ, sorry obout your loss. Prayers and hugs.
Allie, we about have our Mobile plans set. We'll be through Athens on March 7 and prolly eat at Lawlers. Gotta get further south that night as we play Saturday at 12:30.
On the Cave City meet, I guess I'll be unofficial host. CC is 30 miles straight up I-65 from me. We stopped there once and looked in one of the tepees. If you come, don't bring a lot, they are quite small, having been built in the 30's. There were 7 of these villages at one time, now just the one here and and one in CA and one in AZ. Check out their webpage.

I think I'll head back to bed, though I doubt it'll do any goog. Thankfully, I'm off tomorrow. I've written most of a chapter for the trippie, so I'll get that up tomorrow at some point.
Nite, all.

Thinking of you PJ - :grouphug:

where'd the sun go?? So cold here!!

No school day - is it for the whole country? I know Chicago Public Schools got Lincoln's bday, most of the state get today off!

Today begins the funerals for the slain victims of NIU - at least this round they are saying their names every time they talk of the shooter - just is so senseless!! So dh wants to go to Disney!!

HAPPY PRESIDENTS' DAY! :sunny:

PJ...I'm soooo sorry to hear about your grandma.   Praying for you and grandpa and family unity at this difficult time.

Twink....My brother was able to get everything off my last hard drive so I'll bet your dad can do it. We have an external hard drive now for picture back up. That's really the only thing I can't do without. OH...one of the peeps posted that she ate at this restaurant in NYC this weekend. The ninjas jump out at you!

SANDY! DH wants to go to Disney again? Why OH why couldn't I have married a Disney-lovin man. I guess I just didn't have my priorities in order.

Bonnie
....I guess most of your Mt. Vernon pictures were poofed. Can you repost here? I'm only 8-9ish hours from DC and have been thinking I should take the kids sometime. I've also never been to Mt. Vernon, Monticello, or Williamsburg. I'm a real geek for history so it does sound like fun.

Moo
....Nothing worse than a rainy mitten. It's gloomy here today too. It was almost 60 yesterday and the high tomorrow is to be 25. :sad2: No wonder everybody's sick.

Marita....Get the $265 flight to Dusseldorf! That's a great price!

Lynette....HSM2 on Ice? Good ValenTimes gift! :rolleyes1

DTD....Official host of Wigwam Village meet 2008? Have you visited all the cheesy attractions in Cave City? I haven't been since I was a kid. My most recent visit was to Dinosaur World a coupla summers ago. We couldn't resist the lure of the giant dino on the interstate.

I think I'll wear jeans? Carry a big gulp? Tourquoise eyeshadow? Tank top with bra straps? high heeled flip flops? Cell phone with extry loud "Baracouda" ring tone ;)
Are you trying to get yourself arrested? By the FASHION POLICE! (Guilty, as charged!) Hope you get out of jury duty. OH....and Boleyn is pronouced bow-LIN. OH OH....Did you notice that the BBB now has a Manna Tanna package...for $110....complete with wig, makeup, headset, t-shirt, and backstage pass???? I can see Norah now!

Everybody
.....:wave2:

So you know I've been planning the imaginary trip for next Sept. and my 180 day mark is rapidly approaching. I had mentioned the trip to DSIL but have thought better of it recently. So last night I mentioned it to my friend. We were at their house for dinner and she was very receptive to the idea! Emily's birthday is two days before the trip and her daughter's birthday is two days after the trip (they're the same age and are friends) so we thought we'd get it past the DH's by calling it a girl's birthday trip. Huhhhh? Huhhh?

HAVE A GOOG DAY!

I have jury duty this week :scared: "GUILTY!" "Yes, I believe in the death penalty" ...UGH! They swear you In!

I think I'll wear jeans? Carry a big gulp? Tourquoise eyeshadow? Tank top with bra straps? high heeled flip flops? Cell phone with extry loud "Baracouda" ring tone ;)

Don't forget the huge sunglasses and dangly earrings and poka dot tourist hat.

And when you walk in ask how soon before you can have a smoke?

I will get to my scrabby games asap!

Twinks: I lost the first year and a half of Mals life and all the rest of the family stuff when my hard drive burned up. I still have the hard drive in hopes that someone can recover the pics, you know when I hit the lotto.

Hi everybody. I dont think PJ will mind if I posted a good morning picture just this once.

GOOD MORNING!!

NFLF-Peyton_Manning_112005.jpg

All that Scrabulous and Computer talk must be the equivalent of the sports talk you guys put up with from me. I saw words, but I did not comprehend.

Hi to everybody. I hope you have a nice Monday.

Carcass. Heh. Too true. I will tell all y'all my sad story since it is a modern day morality play.

Why Twinkie Isn't Facebookin' Yet or Proof that I didn't pay attention at Math Camp

So. I have an ancient laptop that formerly was the DH's work laptop. Thus long ago geeky people set it up, taught it to toss it's cookies and be safe on the internet. Its job was to give him internet acess. It has no memory to speak of. He used and abused it. It is cracked. Literally. And the keyboard is wonky so I have lots of spellun errors. Also I have a slightly less ancient desktop that is MINE MINE MINE. Its job is to play on the disboards, write quizzes on mitosis and store the bajillion pictures of my darling children. I am the geek team here and I had grown lax with maintence and boring things like keeping the firewall up to date and burning cds of the darling children pictures.
Somehow the desktop got a NASTY virus.... right before we were in the hospital with RSV with the baby. This virus downloaded OTHER viruses and worms and probably a fungus or two. I had no time to deal with it and my knowledge is very limited- everytime I got rid of some problem, four more sprouted. It got so bad that it was turning itself off before you could load a single program- so I couldn't run anti-virals and I couldn't copy my pictures to anything (including the laptop which couldn't even hold them if I wanted to). So I have been desktopless since the end of Dec 2007. My dad was here this weekend and now I have a desktop again.... but only because he took out the brains and put in a new squeaky clean one. I haven't even installed word, excel or outlook. I have downloaded the 365 pictures I have taken since Dec.

He took my old brain home to try to extract the pictures. If he isn't sucessfull I will have lost EVERY thing I haven't burnt on CD which everything since 11/05.

I KNOW. I am an idiot. I am just sick about it. Of course I haven't printed any pictures since 2003 either.

The moral of the story: BACK UP your FILEs buttercup. And I have been scared to go anywhere on the internet I haven't been before... which includes facebook.

However I now have a fancy smacny norton firewall and I have banned my teenager (cause of course I blame the sites he visits for this trauma) from using the computer for a while so maybe I will set up an account in my "free" time so Wendee, Lynette and Moo can whup my carcass at The Game Which Can Not Be Named.
Sheesh! I hate computer drama! Come play The Game Which Cannot Be Named as soon as you have a spare minute. See, no one can see you search frantically in your 13 year old Scrabble Dictionary so when you come up with a non-word word, you "look" super skilt to your friends and peers.

Twink! It's not that we don't like your haiku!!!!!!!! We were just missing you

Wendy, I started another game! :yay: :yay: :yay:

L, glad the cwaziness of your weekend is over!

Ok, now I have to figure out how to find said new game. First I need to go make waffles for 4 hungry boys (my 2 plus Misty's 2 had a sleep over....sleep is a ironic word in this case).

I'm sewing some more these days, but take frequent breaks.

My dad's plan sounds very workable- and if I lose my pictures I do have acess to pictures taken by grandparents- so I just will be missing birthdays and every day stuff- I should have all Christmasses (is that a word? it looks bizarre) and vacations.

I hate when those prongy thingies get bent. I know!

Christmasses is a word. I know this for a fact. Except my spell checker is not agreeing with me.

If it's in Cave City, I've prolly done it. I've played Hillbilly golf(mini), been to the Wax Museum, Inbred Disney(Guntown Mountain), the stores that sell rocks, and of course the cave tours. I've been lost in the woods around the cave, crossed the ferry from the park into Stockholm, then continued to Sweeden, both great places for spotting lots of natural blondes. I've eaten at virtually every restaurant there including the Happy Days Inn, heavily themed to Fonzie and Mrs, C. Though I think they should add Potsie roast to the menu.
E, there is horseback riding in and around the park. I haven't ridden in years and not sure they'd let me. I know Disney has a 250 weight limit. I think you can even rent canoes. Anybody cereal aboout coming, we can have a goog time.
Got up this morning, but my brain stayed in bed. Made sure I got to the mailbox early to send my Netflix back, then went to the bank.
images.jpg
DOH!!!
Need to get to the bank, my refund came this weekend. Now if they'll get in gear with the rebate, I can start thinking about my next trip. Hoping to go for MVMCP and the tailend of F&W.

Thanks for the help everyone! I am hopeful that the pictures are recoverable. And yes, Lex- an external hard drive is now attached to my computer. Maybe next year I will get one of them horseless carriages I hear tell about.

Mony!!! No baby Mal pictures! ACK! That is a nightmare! Ask around- my dad thinks he can handle this task but his back up plan is calling the best friend of one of the kids I used to babysit (the kid is now 20) who has mad virus killin' skillz apparently. The point is someone may be willing to help you for pizza money instead of lotto money- or trade some childcare!

Ever since my old card broke off in the camera ruining it AND the camera "prongy thingies" I am really good at downloading from the camera to the computer- printing/burning disks- not so much. Because I keep thinking I will get around to cropping and editing and playing with the color before I save & print them and I NEVER do.

In fact I am going to go call my dad now- he has today off so he should be slaving over my hard drive right? (that is a juice box statement- my parents are the best, they just left after a long weekend of doting on the kids and helping me by taking over the kitchen (my mom) and home repairs (my dad))

Goog afternoon - I am trying to do some picking up around my house today. It's not as fun as bumlaying and DISing, I can tell you that!

bbn, that is prezactly how some of us feel about sports talk!!! ;) But each to our own, eh?

Hope Nabbie is back soon.

And I too am thinking about PJ today.

Back to clearing off my dining room table . . .
