Goog evening, all and TGIF :dance3:

Lex! So sorry about your basement flooding!

Please send me safe travels pixie dust.
Consider it sent! pixiedust: pixiedust: :car:

Last night hubby and I had our passport photos done...we look like escaped convicts.....HONEST>....those are horrible.....she said look this way .dont smile.....just a regular face .....look up..so I look like a dufus......oh well a passport is a passport
Your photo can't be any worse than mine!!! Hope the re-take was better.

Glad you found a restaurant! My hubby is out picking up pizza for dinner :woohoo:

Your description of your relationship with your hubby made me all verklempt

:yay: My kitchen guy just got here!!!!!
:yay: :yay: :yay: Hope things go smoothly for you!!!

Awful! In my quest to find Mojo (our puppy), I actually crossed paths with a few people who were very obviously running puppy mills. So sad.

Those mall stores should just be banned altogether, IMHO. No good can come of patronizing a place like that.

BTW, did y'all see my post count?
Jasper and Sukie were supposedly from a puppy mill. Fortunately, they seem pretty happy and healthy. At least the rescue lady didn't describe the conditions when she picked them up as being horrific -- I think they mainly didn't want them because of the cross-breeding oops.
MOO HOOTY on 6000, Lynette!

And may I just second the Cary Grant comments? Yum. Bishop's Wife is one of my favorite movies. Who is the guy on the diving board with him?

I can't see Cel's last photo - did it get poofed? Or was it just a bad link?

No comment on the pregnant "man" :rolleyes1

our dinner is tomorrow night......tonight we had hamburger helper.......BELCH......excuse me

The photos that we had done last night at CVS which is a pharmacy store.....well they were not big enough for the specifications of passports....and the post office lady told us so.....so we had them taken there for double the money and went back to CVS and I told the manager.....

We got Megara from a wonderful breeder in NH......the house and the dogs were treated like queens and kings......so wonderful.....four generations were there still......they only breed once a year and they had grand champions in their family.......we had megara fixed at 6 months before she went into her first heat.....our vet and our area said it ws the best thing to do......because females tend to get some types of cancers because they dont get fixed.....she is worth every penny we have spent on her.....including her dozen or so stuffies from Disney...spoiled rotten I tell ya.....

moo - my last pic was frank sinatra. (Young, not old!)
Cel, was there one after the Johnny Depp smoking pic (in that same post)?

Marita, I'd be up for chatting tomorrow night. What time? Any others available to chat tomorrow night??? It really has been a while.

I am good anytime, I have no life LOL!

how about 9:30? I am flexible.

Good news about mom, she is feeling much better and up for phone calls, so I am going to try to call this weekend.

That's great about your mom, Marita. She's still in my prayers.

I'm up for a chat around 9:30 tomorrow night. Count me in!

Don't all you "chatters" know KU and UNC will be playing tonight? ;)

Never ever buy a dog from a pet store. 99% chance it's from a puppy mill. A lot of internet dogs are puppy mill dogs too.
I'm on the rampage!
Wendee, I tried to trumpet that on the CB once and got beat up pretty bad. Some lady started a thread saying she had fallen in love with a pup at a pet store and said "PLEASE TALK ME OUT OF BUYING THIS DOG" so I layed out some negatives about the breed and then went into the pet store thing.

My rule of thumb has always been that if a breeder/seller doesn't ask questions about me and my family and my household, then they aren't selling a pup I'm interested in buying. Breeders that sell pups for the right reasons want to know that their pups are going to a proper home. At a pet store, they just want to know if your credit card was approved.

And may I just second the Cary Grant comments? Yum. Bishop's Wife is one of my favorite movies. Who is the guy on the diving board with him?
You all stay away from my Cary Grant! I claimed him first. Go back to your Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, etc. :crazy2:

Have you all ever seen his film (with Myrna Loy), Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream Home? It's 60 years old this year and it is a great movie. Well worth the cost of a rental and your time. Here's a quote illustrative of the movie (Mrs. Blandings is picking out her interior paint colors):
Muriel Blandings: I want it to be a soft green, not as blue-green as a robin's egg, but not as yellow-green as daffodil buds. Now, the only sample I could get is a little too yellow, but don't let whoever does it go to the other extreme and get it too blue. It should just be a sort of grayish-yellow-green. Now, the dining room. I'd like yellow. Not just yellow; a very gay yellow. Something bright and sunshine-y. I tell you, Mr. PeDelford, if you'll send one of your men to the grocer for a pound of their best butter, and match that exactly, you can't go wrong! Now, this is the paper we're going to use in the hall. It's flowered, but I don't want the ceiling to match any of the colors of the flowers. There's some little dots in the background, and it's these dots I want you to match. Not the little greenish dot near the hollyhock leaf, but the little bluish dot between the rosebud and the delphinium blossom. Is that clear? Now the kitchen is to be white. Not a cold, antiseptic hospital white. A little warmer, but still, not to suggest any other color but white. Now for the powder room - in here - I want you to match this thread, and don't lose it. It's the only spool I have and I had an awful time finding it! As you can see, it's practically an apple red. Somewhere between a healthy winesap and an unripened Jonathan. Oh, excuse me...
Mr. PeDelford: You got that Charlie?
Charlie, Painter: Red, green, blue, yellow, white.
Mr. PeDelford: Check.

GOOG MORNING, EVERYONE! :sunny:

The rains have ceased and it's supposed to be sunny and warmer this weekend. DH came home with the shop vac last night and started on the basement. QUESTION: Do we HAVE to pull the carpet up to dry the pad?

I hope Allie had a decent trip yesterday. I hate to drive through an interstate monsoon with my kids in the car. Are they celebrating her birthday? She has a BIG birthday coming up soon.

Rob....I love your taste in movies. I haven't seen Mr. Blandings in ages. When I was a kid (back in the dark age) there was only network TV with no trashy daytime shows like Jerry Springer and we watched old movies all the time. I was in love with Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, and Laurence Olivier. I remember the ladies from the classics too....Irene Dunn, Myrna Loy, Joan Fontaine, Loretta Young, and lots more. I really need to train my kids to watch those old movies too....no smut. I watched Ghostbusters on Netflix with DS last night and I had forgotten some of that "adult" stuff. :scared:

Wendee....Hee, hee. I'm trying to picture you gently prying the remote out of DHs hands. Did you get to watch Sleepless in Seattle anyway? I only get to watch Pokemon and Naruto.

9:30 chat, ya say? OK! I'm tentatively in.

EVERYBODY HAVE A SUNNY SATURDAY!

morning everyone.

It is raining out there HARD.......but should clear up they said......I also should be cleaning the place..I just have to vacumm and get the kitchen picked up and put out the guest towels......then get the platter ready for the desserts.....

I am anxious to see everyone......cause really, we have not seen my nephew since my moms funeral (they are from upstate NY) and the rest we have not seen since the family Christmas Party. Our family is so large that we had to rent a hall this past Christmas....TOnight though......no kiddos...just adults.

OMGOODNESS........bil and sil called and they are coming to visit at one pm.....I didnt tell them we had arrangments for the evening....cause they usually dont stay...but now my cleaning time is cut in half......hubby did the vacumming and I did the dusting.....put the kitchen almost in order and now I will do the bathroom and put the guest towels out...yah we have those for the good times and then the dark green ones for regular use.....I have such good plans...need to look at my platter for the desserts ...
If I dont see you...maybe tomorrow for an update.......later gators

omg we are done and ready for anything now.....it is almost noon and we are all done the cleaning.........I still have to find the platter for tonight.....but my sil and bil can come and see us now with no problems......:cool1:

pumba - sounds like you're going to have a busy day! Have fun!

movies - I love old movies, but there's a lot I haven't seen.
I finally watched citizen kane and didn't like it. Thought it was overrated.
But I thnk I love every jimmy stewart movie I've ever seen.
there's one from maybe the 60's where he has grown kids and they all come to his beach house -
it's hilarious!
can't remember the name though.

melinda - a lot of those 80s movies are dirty!

I watched alvin and the chipmunks last night.
I didn't like it.
too cheesy.
and unbelivable (and I don't mean the fact that computerized chipmunks were talking. heh).
I hate when they don't make kids movies enjoyable for adults too.

What?! You can't chat and watch basketball at the same time? :rolleyes1

OK, I'll back off from your man, Rob! :rotfl2:

Not sure if I've seen that movie, but I'll have to look for it. The paint color comment sounds just like my hubby.

Lex, I don't have any experience with drying out drowned carpet. Last time I dealt with it, we just pitched it all and left the concrete floor bare. Glad to hear your rains have stopped. It looks to be a decent day here.

I had my leftover pizza for brunch. Yum-o! Now I have to figure out what I'm doing today.

Pumba, hope you have a great dinner and visit with your family today!!!

Hey moo.
Our trip is getting close!
doesn't feel like I'm really going yet.
hmm.

I feel wuckety today.
Like I might have a stomach virus.
I felt like this last night too.
the thing is, it's not possible for me to throw up anymore, which is good.
I'd just get dry heaves.
I just forced myself to eat cuz I didn't eat last night -
and what sounded good before I ate doesn't feel so good now. :(
I ate broccoli, corn and low carb spaghetti sauce mixed with hamburger.
HA!
Great choice for someone feeling bad, huh?
I'm an idiot.

I also decided I can't finish the other boelyn girl.
I tried real hard, Melinda!
But I have a hard time with just accepting adultery.
and the fact that these "women" are 14.
and that the queen who I think is 35 is considered matronly.
and the men can do whatever they want.
and mary is stupid (of course, she's only 14, but still!).
and I don't like thinking of natalie portman as manipulative.
heh.
so it's just not working for me.
which means I'm out of books!
I left Mirror, Mirror on my desk at work.
I looked last night in target, but they didn't have the second women's murder club book (I just started that series) and they didn't have anything else I wanted to read.
So I guess I"m stuck rereading an elizabeth peters book for the millionth time.
I might see how buried my books are in the closet and grab something else to reread -
just until I go to get my facial and can swing by Kroger and see what they have.
My little "town" is growing, but we don't have a bookstore yet (but we do have a starbucks!).
and I don't want to go all the way to the "big town" of Franklin.
heh. cuz it's a whole 15 minutes away!
this is probably funny to those that know this area like Twinkie and maybe donald and lex.
or maybe it's just funny to me.

anyway, when I was little, I would've had to go to a school that is 20 minutes away - there was NOTHING out here.
Now there's tons of stuff!
even two mcdonalds.

Little Blue, WOW!

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this #5? Are you going mano a mano with Twinkie and MommyP?

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) is a godsend (Godsend? hmm, not sure whether to capitalize that or not) and American Movie Classics (AMC) sometimes show good stuff too (if you can stand the commercials -- I don't mind commercials except that I know TCM does NOT have them so it irks me that AMC does).

That's Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation. I admitted I cheated though and looked it up on www.imdb.com . My favorite 1960s Jimmy Stewart movie is Take Her, She's Mine, where his daughter goes off to college and he gets worried and tracks her down at college and then follows her to Europe for the same reason.

Me either Lex. My parents' basement used to flood all the time but the area that was carpeted usually seemed to stay dry. Seems like I do remember a few occasions where they brought in a bunch of fans to keep air moving over it but I don't ever remember them pulling the carpet back (though, like I said, the flooding tended to stay in bare concrete floor areas of the basement).

:rolleyes1

1. I love Elizabeth Peters!!!! Naked Once More is on my short list of books to re-read when I am down in the dumps. Oddly enough though, I don't really like Barbara Micheals at ALL.

2. Heh heh. I love Franklin. I even have a trendy Franklin Chamber of Commerce fleece. Bet you didn't know that? And thanks to your handy-dandy axe murderers guide to TN, I can drop in next time I am in town shopping for lattes and $600 crib sheets. Cause I am down to earth like that.;)

Is this #5? Are you going mano a mano with Twinkie and MommyP?

I surrender. MommyP and LittleBlue get extra credit for having them so close together. I cheated with the whole bonus kid and two for the price of one thing.

Congrats Little Blue!!! Babies are a wonderful way to start people!!!!
