First time attempting to register for Moonlight Magic. I am a blue card member, I have a reservation during the third Moonlight Magic event. I rented those points and I’m not using my own DVC points for this trip so I called Member Services on 4/19 to make sure that I was ok to register they said yes. I have had that reservation for months and did not recently modify it. I linked it to my MDE as soon as I made reservation. At 11 yesterday I receive a 4000 in queue and a half hour later I am redirected to the registration screen. Before I get there I have to sign in with my 12 digit Member ID number twice. I then get the dreaded message there is no reservation linked to my account. After that the “Someone ate the page” message popped up. I call DVC member services where I waited about an hour and 45 minutes to get through. Registration was full about 30 minutes after I was selected so I was unable to get tickets even though all I had left to do was register. This is my first time attempting tickets for a Moonlight Magic event. When I spoke to member service after this happened they apologized for the inconvenience and basically offered no explanation as to why that happened. Are rented points not allowed??? Did I need to put in another number??? Just want to make sure I know for next time.

The only possible explanation is that the reservation was made with points from Membership A (not yours) and you were making the registration request using Membership B (yours).

In theory, it should not have mattered. Any blue card member with a resort stay, whether on points or cash, should have had an opportunity to register for the events. But every time Moonlight Magic registration occurs, some members get caught in Disney IT hell.

I'm sorry that you could not get tickets. Hopefully, you can try again on May 10, when all eligible members have a shot.

Thank you! That’s what I think happened as well. I was worried about that happening and did try to explain that on 4/19 to Member Services but they had said I would be eligible to register because I am a blue card member and have a resort reservation that is under my name. I will try again on 5/10. 🤞

The other explanation is that Disney IT is horrible. (and that's the only problem).

As I stated in another thread, I had cash reservations covering the events, at a Disney hotel, on property, and the reservations were made in February. I did NOT get the email Tuesday so I called MS. Cast member took 30 minutes with other people then assured me all was good to go. They see my stays, I am a blue card holder(150 points direct, 150 resale - but before the latest round of restrictions so those are also eligible)

Enter the registration page after 25 minutes (11:25 eastern) and bang - no resort reservation.

I knew something was wrong when I did not get the email so I acted preemptively and still got the shaft. Then of course member services tells me its sold out and they cant do anything (i.e. wont). So I asked them about fixing the bug, and they tell me its not a bug, its sold out. I explained to them that it was not sold out when I tried to register, it said I don't have a hotel room...that's not being sold out. They said they would report it, and I am sure they wont. So I am sure same thing will happen for the AK date I am targeting.

I am going to try on 5/10 but I am pretty sure that's hopeless.

Due to travelling I have to schedule my trips in advance. I have been 4 times since 12/1. All I can say is I have lost a lot of faith in something I loved since that time. My experiences are more negative than positive. It really is a shame. Then again, their stock is at a 52 week low....

Just out of curiosity, did you get the registration email the day before?

It definitely has to be an IT glitch. I’ve read that some members with cash stays were able to register while others were not. I wouldn’t count on it being fixed by AK MM release.

Yes it is! Sorry you had a similar experience! Good luck on 5/10!

It is maddening because I assumed (HA!) if I was in as DVC Y on the wallet, that they knew I was blue card. But they could not find my (valid) cash reservation either. MDE says it is not on their end, it is DVC IT.

Yes. Thanks! So frustrating! I was so excited when I was redirected to the Moonlight Magic Registration page….only to be denied. I wasn’t feeling the Disney Magic yesterday that’s for sure. 🤣

I spoke to a “supervisor” at member services regarding this. They stated because I rented points to secure this reservation and it is tied to another member account I was not eligible to register early even though I am a direct member with a reservation. Cash reservations and reservations made with your own DVC points only.

That’s interesting. We’re booked at SSR via an inbound RCI exchange linked to our MDE, received the email with the link on Tuesday and booked on Wednesday without any problem. I guess that counts as a cash reservation, or it’s another case of CMs making stuff up just to try to explain why you didn’t get in.

I have heard that before that reservations booked on someone's else's membership are not given the early registration privilege. For whatever reason, they treat it differently.

I had the same thing happen. It's so disheartening. Crossing fingers for May 10th. Member Services did suggest sending an email lodging a formal complaint/concern, not that they'll do anything but at least it's documented that way and they can't say they never knew it was a problem.

So frustrating that there is no consistency. I’m a blue card holder, however my reservation for the event was made with transferred points. I registered with no problems for June event. I checked with the person I transferred from and she confirmed the points that were transferred to me were blue card points too…come on Disney let’s figure this out!

were you able to get in on 5/10?

I'm anxious about the Moonlight Magic registration for Animal Kingdom because we are in this exact same situation - blue card DVC members (100 points purchased resale in Jan 2020 and 200 points purchased direct in Jun 2021) but we are actually staying in July on our friend's DVC points - because we are letting them join us and stay for free on our points for an upcoming trip in Sept 2022. I'm paranoid that the system is going to deem me ineligible to book MM, even though we have a resort reservation - because we aren't staying on our own points.
