Moonlight Magic Jan 2025!

This is also new, and confirms that you cannot go to to MM at DHS in January and DCA:
Boooo! That's what I thought. I'm on the west side of the country, so we only get one event, if at all. I've been fortunate to have a trip for WDW scheduled once in past, and now for this upcoming DHS event. Otherwise it's not likely I ever get to attend. It's fun, but not worth scheduling a cross country trip for. If they did at least two out west that would at least help. I know they will never do one at DL again. Can't imagine they would want to close early, unless it's an upcharge party. I did get to do MM at DL once though many years ago before COVID.

I'm getting worried that I will not qualify for early registration.

I am a blue card DVC member, as I own direct Riviera/Polynesian points.

However, for my stay in February, I used resale BCV points.

Now I'm seeing some reports that even if you are a blue card member, you must have a reservation using your direct points to qualify for early registration.

Will I qualify for early registration?

Based on that I don’t think you will be eligible for early reg but may be for the general reg period

My understanding is that it depends on the membership, not the points. So if your BCV points are under the same membership no as your direct points, you should be good.

Does anyone have prior experience doing early registration for a reservation booked on resale points but on a membership that qualifies for blue card benefits?

I bought resale way back in 2002, so I have total blue card benefits, never had an issue.

Still waiting for my email LOL, but so happy to see it on their website. Nice of them to make us wait until 11 days prior.

No experience with resale but reading some posts from past MM threads seem to indicate you will be ok as long as your membership qualifies AND you are using your own points even if resale if they are under the same membership as qualifying points … I’m sure someone that has dealt with this personally will chime in

It is my understanding that it is based on if you are eligible for membership extras. If you are DVC Y, then you are good to go. My room is booked using OTU points and I got the email. I am direct (125pt in 2019) and resale, so grandfathered in to benefits.

I had a hotel stay booked on a bounce back but that did not qualify since I did not use my membership to book it. I was lucky enough to get a studio at BCV and booked that after many modifications.

I assume there have been no changes to the number of people you can book? Member plus 4 on one reservation? We have five people, but in three different rooms, all booked on my points.

It's the GREATER of FIVE or the total number of people listed on your room reservation(s).

If you're talking the Jan DHW and Feb DCA, I don't think you can. See my post above about only one registration during the same season.
Thanks for the info. Guess I should have read everything. We definitely want to do DCA since we will be there and have never done it before. We can wait for the next DHW event. The only problem is we have reservations at Bay Lake Tower. Guess we will spend the time at MK and the other parks. I hope everyone gets what they want.

Turns out I did get an email, it was in my junk folder.

I chatted with MS, and they told me I am eligible for early registration. Fingers crossed this is accurate!

Yes, that is consistent with the last round of registration.

As long as you are DVC-Y and have a stay booked on points you own - qualified.

It doesn’t matter if your stay is on a different membership number or resale points. The system can see that you are blue card and have a stay on your points.

What was removed last year was the ability for DVC-Y member staying on another DVC members points (eg - rental).

The only other way to qualify is booking a cash room through Member Services.

Ok I got the email saying I could register early for the Feb 12 AK Moonlight Magic.
BUT
On the 15th of Jan where and at what time do I try and register?

Thanks
Hugs Mel

You'll likely get an email the evening of 1/14 with the link. And it will be on the member website by the morning of the 15th. And probably shared here, too.
Thank you so much for your response.
It is very much appreciated.
I am a bit excited about this.

Typically it is 11am EST.

You can actually use the link before 11am. For example we’d pop on about 10 minutes prior. They will acknowledge you are there, but the ‘lottery’ numbers will not be drawn until 11am. Those numbers will tell you what place you are in line. Don’t get worried if it says #1250, that is still a good place in line.
