Moonlight Magic at Epcot Dec 2017

There has been no announcement yet. I'd watch for when the reservation window opens for the Animal Kingdom Moonlight Magic days in September, and assume that it will fall within that same window for December. If they were thinking about us guests who like to properly plan ahead, they will be available to reserve around the 180 days out window. That would coincide with the Dining Reservations window, but Disney has been making a pretty good habit out of just springing things up out of nowhere lately...

Has anyone heard rumors the Merry Mixer events are not happening this year?

The only thing I've seen is speculation based on the fact they are having Epcot events in December. It's unusual to have Merry Mixer info by this time so I'm unaware of anything from DVC beyond that which would lead to that thought.

No more Merry Mixers... this is from an email I just received:

This year’s bi-coastal event schedule includes “Moonlight Magic” events at Magic Kingdom Park (Feb. 24 and March 3), Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park (June 22 and 28, and July 5 and 13), Disney’s Animal Kingdom (Sept. 6 and 13), Disneyland park in California (Nov. 15) and Epcot (Dec. 4 and 11). (It’s worth noting that the Moonlight Magic events at Epcot replace the previously offered “Merry Member Mixer” gatherings as part of an effort to broaden the experience, accommodate more Members and remove the requirement of paid theme park admission.)

I was very sad to see this. We got to go to the Merry Mixer last year and loved it and I was looking forward to it this year. We will miss EPCOT magic by few days.

I too will miss the Merry Mixer. And I'll really miss the little Christmas tree ornament. I want to attend the Epcot event Dec. 4 so I'll be watching out for booking news.

Looks like the WDW website is down... Perhaps ya'll can help me. Are you allowed to bring guests to this event? Chances are (fingers crossed) I'll be at a conference at the Swan/Dolphin during the event on the fourth and my sister will be tagging along. We're both DVC members, but the ladies I'm travelling with are not. Can my sister and I get tickets for both of us and guests, or does everyone have to be a DVC member? TIA!

This has been allowed in the past. The rules are not posted for any events beyond the two MK however so it's impossible to say for certain, however MK allowed a certain number of guests so I expect it to continue for the others.

Thanks for the insight!

Am I crazy to want to book a trip just based on this event? My husband says yes... I say... we have the points and I can probably get the airfare using points..

Definitely not crazy. We have booked trips for single events. Wanting to see the Frozen fireworks at DHS comes to mind a few summers ago!

I've extended a trip for one of these, and done a short trip just for one. My only fear was that if the weather were so bad that we were miserable, or that it was cancelled, it would be a big disappointment.

Not IMO. If you even think you might go, my advice is to book your home resort now. First two weeks of December could be very hard to book after the 7 month window opens. Easy to cancel if it doesn't work out.

Yes - my home resort is available... my problem is convincing my husband... hmmmmmmmmm - may have to use puppy eyes or something. :)

Are there any more specifics on these events? We are going in September and will be there for the AK event. This would be our first DVC event so I NEED TO KNOW MORE!! :yay:

Curious as it says to have to sign up in advance. When you get to the park, are they going through a book of papers to find your name, or is it electronic and/or linked to the magic band?
