I was just wondering if you guys had seen this movie yet.

Charlize Theron and Cristina Ricci star in what is a traumatic true story about the life of a prostitute trying to find love. I thought it was one of the best movies I had ever seen.

I could not watch certain parts without cringing though. There were some pretty graphic scenes in there.

Just wondering what you thought of it if you have seen it yet??

I had seen the movie and loved it and even felt sorry for her (the killer). Then I read an article in the newspaper, written by a woman who had researched the killer's life and had written a book about her life story. She said the movie was so loosely based on the TRUE story of her life, that it should NOT be thought of as the way it really happened. For example, there is a part in the movie in which the woman is violently sexually assaulted by a man who is her "John" (she is a prostitute) - well, according to the author of the book....... that incident NEVER EVEN HAPPENED! In the movie, it is that part that makes you feel sorry for her, even when she then kills the man. She then goes on a killing "rampage" of men who pick her up for prostitution.
So, by that UNTRUE part of the movie, the viewer kind of develops a "sympathy" for her, even though she goes on to kill many men (primarily to steal their money and vehicles).
You go into the movie thinking that you are going to learn of the TRUE story of what really happened and you are instead fed a piece of "made up for Hollywood" drama  ..... to me that is just SO deceiving that it just kind of ruined it for me and I don't think that I will ever trust Hollywood to give me the REAL story about anything...... hello Farenheit 911
;)
However, I must say, that Charlize Theron did an excellent job and deserved the oscar for best Actress.

Wow! I never knew that part was fiction! I felt so sorry for her in the end. Now I don't feel so bad. Regardless, it was a fantastic movie and Theron was phenomenal.
