Monorails to no longer operate during Evening Extra Magic Hours

To be fair, the poster did say that they were given a choice. No one was forced to go back stage. It was just an alternative to a very crowded main street. Still doesn't seem right.

Thanks - they send people back there to exit on occasion too - going to look at them and then may comment. I totally understand the copy and paste when using technology!

Thanks found them! I have never been back there and I don't think I would for fireworks (I am one of those renegade Poly Beach types) but I do think it is fun when you get a chance to go backstage for a legitimate reason.

You are wrong. Here is the official wording on my latest WDW ticket - nowhere does it say anything about transportation being included: "Must be used by the same person on any and all days. Disney is not responsible for lost or stolen tickets. Parks, attractions or entertainment may change operating hours; close due to refurbishing, capacity, weather or special events, and may otherwise change or be discontinued without notice or liability to the owners of the Walt Disney World resort. Ticket and biometric confirmation required for entry. Not valid for special events, premium events, or other activities which are separately priced."

Um, if I bought a 2 day ticket and I'm staying at the Marriott Grand Lakes, I can use the WDW transporation Free of Charge. Who said anything about the off site guests not being able to use the WDW transporation? I did! You responded to my post above.

Anyway, it used to be on your ticket. It was also on the website, about their FREE transportation! Sheesh!

my point is, it is not on the ticket, nothing else nothing more, nor is it on the website. There is a difference in park transportation and Resort Transportation which is why we are having this discussion.

If Disney should decide for whatever reason to limit transportation to resorts to those staying there, nothing on the tickets would prevent this. Do I think they would do that, no. But the ticket does not have anything stated on it about transportation. Maybe it did at one, but for some reason it was removed.

No, it's obvious that off site guests use the WDW transport system, and that is to be expected. I am just trying to state what Disney itself has printed on the tickets, and has on their web site.

I am just trying to state what Disney itself has printed on the tickets, and has on their web site.

This info has been often discussed over the years.

The statement about on-site transportation is not put there with the intent by Disney to be exclusionary of non-resort guests.

It is there to mention that Disney does provide various forms of transportation, since many new guests are not aware of the service.

There is a bus from Epcot to CR/TTC and one to Poly/GF.

Actually, no. Consensus on the Transportation Board, any time somebody asks 'drive or bus'. Not everybody takes the advice, but no matter which the responder prefers, pretty much everyone advises 'bus' to the Magic Kingdom.

Now, granted, Poly/GF/CR/BLT guests don't have that option - yet. When they do, that board will probably still advise bus from Poly/GF and walk from CR/BLT.

well, I'm so glad you got a laugh at my expense. I guess I should have been more clear. What I meant was --- it's not about not wanting to share the monorail with ANY other people, or people from whatever resort, it's about overcrowding. And I really have not heard anyone saying they want their own transportation system. Nearly everyone has discussed restrictions ONLY at very limited times IF overcrowding might warrant it.

And while you may perceive some of us as being elitist, your comments may be leading to some unkind perceptions as well.

As I said a bit earlier, a WDW monorail train can hold between 240 and 360 people. It's designed to hold the higher number - but people riding it perceive the planned number of standees (18) to make the car section too crowded. Its not, per the manufacturer.

People seem to be forgetting that WDW never promised the Resorts monorail would be exclusively for guests at the linked resorts. For that matter, they never promised you a train that wouldnt be at capacity. Why does it matter where a passenger is going, or staying? Would any of you complaining about (perceived) overcrowding if you knew all 360 passengers were going to monorail resorts? How would you react if some people exited at the TTC because it was closer to their Poly rooms?

Thanks. And I sincerely meant my apology. I am generally not afraid to post my opinion and although I may disagree with someone on this topic, that doesn't mean that I won't agree with the same poster on other threads in the future. Unfortunately, I admit that I stepped over my own self-imposed line in attempting to express my viewpoint this time. After all, it is a Disney vacation board and the purpose for me is to plan my next vacation, stay informed on what's going on at WDW and DCL and to have fun discussing various WDW/DCL planning topics in order to escape from the pressures of work.

Okay, Disney is closing the Express Monorail, one hour, after regular park hours. The Resort Monorail is open, until 11p (maybe, exclusively for MK resort guests..???). Disney is offering bus or ferries to resorts/TTC...EEMH and possibly parties. So, they may not offer the same mode for every guest...but every guest receives WDW transportation. Although, this won't work? Imagine if, all guests, are able to access, the Resort Monorail..? Holy Moly!! That will be a nightmare.

It doesn't make sense that they'd provide three modes of transportation to th MK-area resorts. I wouldn't count on the DVC Board rumor until/unless it's confirmed in writing by WDW management, the Orlando Sentinel, WDWinfo.com, or Mousesavers. I still expect both loops to close an hour after the MK does, and that guests will need to walk, boat, ferry, or bus after that.

Just as an FYI, I've seen manufacturers of train-like systems often quote two different capacity numbers - typical "here's how much it can comfortably hold" and another number called "crush load", which is how many you can squeeze in there ala Japanese Rush Hour, and still be considered "safe".

No idea if the 360 number is "crush load" or not. 60 passengers per cabin would seem to be quite a lot though, and without strollers, etc.

"Too crowded", however, is a subjective assessment.
