I thought I read somewhere that, unless you are staying at one of the 3 DL Resort Hotels, you can't use the Monorail? We're staying across the street from the park, but my 6 year old would love to ride it. Is this true?

Thanks

No, not true at all. The monorail is a Disneyland attraction, so you have to have a park ticket, but that is the only requirement. People staying at the 3 onsite hotels do get priority boarding, but we never found that to be a problem. The only time there are a lot of onsite guests waiting at once is the first 1-2 in the morning and the last couple at night. During the day its not typically an issue.

It is running only "one way" / shuttle mode right now, because of the work in the sub lagoon. One way means that you have to get off at either end, and get back in line to go the other way. Also, its only using 1/2 the track, rather then the full loop.

Oh, and as a special treat- if you are first inline or don't mind waiting, you can ask to be in the nose cone with the driver. We've done it a couple times. Its very cool.

Thanks. My son would love to be in the front. :cool1: I'm sure we'll ride quite a few times over the 6 days we're there. Thanks again.

During the first rides in the morning from DTD, they asked to see our hotel ID. Same thing for the last rides back at night. The rest of the day was fine as long as you had park tickets.

They have two nose cones, so you can ride in the back as well :teeth:

for the nose cones, you get to "see it" as your ride from disneyland into dtd. if you ride the nose cone w/the conductor (is that what you call them? maybe driver?) from dtd into disneyland, you're going "backwards". but you can ride on the other nose cone, w/out the conductor/driver person in it.

and we took the very first ride from dtd into disneyland when we had ee one day, and the attendant didn't ask any of us for hotel id. we did stay at dlh, and had our ids w/us, should we need to show "proof"...but no one asked. what's amazing is how so many people are up so early on their vacation!! :flower:

How early is the first EE monorail? Does it leave a couple minutes before EE starts?

we got to the monorail station in dtd at around 6:50. but that day, they told us that the monorail was having "technical difficulties", and they had to fix things...some people opted to just walk to the main entrance. we just stayed around, and we were able to go in a little after 7.

Hmmm...the last time I was there, there was a sign at the station that did say you could only board the monorail if you are staying at the DLH. That was a couple months ago. I don't know what they are doing now. It was because of the construction of the lagoon. :confused3

I rode it today leaving the park. I've seen that sign in the mornings, but that's the only time.

I've seen them checking for room keys on the last rides out at night. There's a special entrance during busy times. I think they let others on too, but only after they've found room for resort guests.
