Where are the stops located for the monorail- or where can I find a map that shows this information? (We are hoping to spend some "downtime" during our full day at Magic Kingdom on the monorail.) How do we go about trying to get seated up front with the driver?

There are stops at the Contemporary, TTC, Poly, and GF. Personally my favorite leg of the monorail is the one where you leave the TTC and go to Epcot. All you have to do to sit in the front is ask one of the attendants when you get in line. You may have to wait, but it's fun.

There are actually THREE monorail routes (with multiple trains running on each route).

On each route, the trains will "loop" around and around on their own unique track.

1) "Epcot Monorail" TTC > Epcot > TTC >
2) "MK Express Monorail" TTC > MK > TTC >
3) "Resort Monorail" TTC > Poly > Grand Floridian > MK > Contemp. > TTC >

As you can see, you can transfer from or to any monorail at the TTC (which is also the MK parking lot).

You may ride any and all of these, if you like.
They do not "let you out" INSIDE any theme-park, so you don't need a ticket.

There are three monorail lines:

1) The express monorail stops at MK, the TTC, and then loops back around to MK again. It does not stop at any of the resorts.

2) The resort monorail stops at MK, CR, TTC, Poly, GF, then loops back to MK.

3) The Epcot monorail has stops at TTC and Epcot.

To sit up front with the driver, just ask the nearest CM on the monorail platform. Lots of people like to do this, so you might have to wait for the next monorail.

Now I have a question. According to allears.net, it almost warns you that if you stay at Poly, the monorail may be crowded because everyone from GF will already be on it. But looking at your posts, Poly seems to be the most convenient as far as leaving MK because it will go to TTC then to Poly.

However, if you are trying to go to TTC, Poly seems most inconvenient. Am I making sense.

Let me just ask this question...if your choice is between Poly and GF, the reason going to these hotels is because of two babies and wanting to be on the monorail, what would be the most convenient?

I'm just guessing you misread what you quoted from www.allearsnet.com, because the resort monorail goes in only one direction, so the only reason people from GF would remain seated on the monorail at the Poly station is they are lost or just taking a ride for the sake of riding, and neither would be a common-enough occurrence to warrant a warning not to stay at Poly.

Most convenient? A third choice, Contemporary. It's close enough to MK to walk if you want. And it's on the monorail (it's actually AROUND the monorail!).

Just in terms of convenience to MK, I would think the choice between Poly and GF is a toss-up. When leaving MK, you get to Poly first (of the two), but when going to MK you'd have the shortest ride from GF. You can get between both and MK by boat, as well.

Here's the way it runs....MK, CR, TTC, Polynesian, GF, and then back to MK...over and over and over. That's the resort line. So...I guess you could have a bunch of GF people there already. They could be returning from Epcot via the TTC and the Epcot line, or they could be coming back from the MK, or the CR. It really doesn't matter. I don't think either resort is going to make a huge difference on the numbers of people on the monorail...it's pretty evenly distributed.
If I were staying with little ones, I'm really not sure which I would prefer. I've stayed at the Polynesian and love the ability to walk over to the Epcot monorail line at the TTC via the pathway. The monorail to MK is wonderful. The thing you have to keep in mind is that the monorail platforms are all on the second level of these resorts....so you'll have to take an elevator up to them if you have strollers. At the CR it's further up...can't remember which floor but again, it's via an elevator if you have strollers. Otherwise, it's an escalator. The other two resorts have a stairway.
It's six of one, half dozen of the other....I have no interest in staying at the GF so it's an easy choice for me...CR or Polynesian.

Oops ... sorry for the misinformation. I must be concentrating more on the weather. It's absolutely true that GF people could be on the monorail on their way "home" from MK or Epcot.

So this is one big 'ol NEVERMIND to my above post. :crazy2:

The most convenient for monorail transportation including that to Epcot is easily the Polynesian. It is a short walk to the TTC for the Epcot monorail. Form the other two monorail resorts you must walk down and up the ramps and transfer to the resort monorail.

I agree with Goofy that it is a wash between GF and Polynesian for MK monorail transportation. On the way to the MK via monorail, at busy times it standing room only for GF guests but then you will be at the MK in about 30 seconds.

It is true that you can walk to the MK from the CR. However if you wish to take the monorail to dine at the other resorts or to catch the Epcot monorail, you must take the elevator to the 4th floor (assuming you will have a stroller) and then transfer to another elevator for the ride to the monorail level.
