I have been looking all over for the answer to this question.

What time do the monorails start running in the morning?? More importantly, what time does the resort monorail start running? We have a reservation at chef Mickey's for 7 am and we were hoping to park at the MK and then ride the monorail there and back and spend the day at the MK. But if it doesn't start running until 7 am, I think we will have to drive to the Contempory and then drive over to the MK afterwards.

Or are there any other options I'm not thinking of??

Thanks!

Hi there! I know someone will be along to give you a definitive answer. I know we had a 7:20am ADR at Chef Mickey's and we took the monorail from the MK over to the Contemporary. I know it was running around 7:10am so you would think it was at a minimum at 7:00am.

Have fun!

I just sent out a message to one of my friends who is a monorail driver and will get back to you when I find out (he may be working today and may not answer until later, but, when he does, I'll let you know)

When we have 7:00am Chef Mickey's or Ohana's ADR's, we normally take a taxi (limo at the Swan&Dolphin).

Just got a message back from my friend, and this is almost exactly what he told me (he didn't mention the boats though).

Thanks for the great info Magicbus!

this is great, thank you!!

So if the resort monorail starts at 7am, when does it start stopping at MK? 8:30ish?

We are staying at the Poly, and want to be at MK for rope drop. we can walk to the TTC, but is the express line a madhouse when it starts running at 8:30am? how about the boats?

I'm also wondering about the little boat from the Poly to MK.....

thank you everyone!

It will start going there right away, because after it leaves the Grand Floridian it's next stop is the Magic Kingdom. So there is no way for it to avoid stopping there, plus there might be guests with early ADR's or those waiting until 8:00 AM for Morning Extra Magic Hour.

EMH are one hour in the morning or three hours at night. MK would open at 8AM and buses would start at 7AM.
The past few years during the week between Christmas & New Years the Magic Kingdom has opened at 7:00 AM for EMH and 8:00 AM for the offsite guests. So during that time transportation such as the Resort Monorail would need to start an hour early.

What if MK closes at 8:00? I thought the resort monorail still runs late - until 11:00 or 12:00. What about the Epcot monorail if MK closes first?

The week your refering to does have a special holiday schedule with EMH on both ends at MK for three days. But I'm looking at my schedule for Dec and it shows an 8AM open time. They could have changed it at the last minute, as they sometimes do. If I remember correctly, and I don't always do, the difference is that, as you stated, off site guests are allowed in early too.
Boy if MK did open at 7, busses would start at 5 and I would have to get up at 3AM. Way too early for me.
