I was just reading another forum and it stated that the voice on the monorails has changed. Can anyone confirm this????? I hope this is not true...hearing the message is the one thing my whole family looks foward to!!!!

:scared:

I hope not also. The guy that does the monorail voicing does a number of Disney things and always brings a familiar, welcoming touch to our entrance!

:cool1:

PS- He also does Debbie from DCL dining's voice mail message!

The "voice" that you are familiar with ("Please stand clear of the doors") died back in the late 90s. Sorry, his name escapes me at the moment. However, that familiar part of the monorial spiel has been maintained, and merged with a newer recording by a sound-alike performer.

We just got back on Dec. 27th, and the Monorail message sounded totally different to me. And here I have been practicing my Spanish, "Por Favor Mantenga se alejado do las puertas." for nearly 6 months so I could say it with the Monorail message. But the voice and message sounded totally different. I only heard the Spanish words once out of several days on the Monorail, and it was said very fast, I believe by a woman. It just wasn't the same. Kind of a downer!

I noticed early Dec. that it was different. "Please stand clear of the doors" was the same, from what I could tell, but the voice and spiel were different. Also, there were some glitches going on and it was saying "For those of you remaining on board, kindly make room for others" while we were between MK and CR.

The voice on "Please Stand Clear of the Doors" is the voice of the late Jack F. Wagner (not to be confused with the Soap actor), who provided the voice for numerous Disney attractions through the years. Up until fairly recently, the "Welcome aboard Disney's highway in the sky" voice was the same, but recently (early November, as near as I can tell), the voice changed to a different voice.

I did notice that the voice change came when Disney added the message about MVMCP, and Stitch's Great Escape. I don't know if they're going to change back to the old spiel after the holiday season.

Wagner's voice can still be heard at Orlando International Airport, where he provides the voice on the automated trains serving gates 1-29, 30-59 and 60-99. (100-129 is voiced by his son)

:guilty: I love the monorail spiel, too. From what I remember, the "Please stand clear of the doors. Por favor, mantenganse alejado de las puertas," was a deeper voice than the voice who says, "For all of you standing,. . ."

We were there just after Thanksgiving. We always look forward to hearing the monorail message for the first time each trip. As soon as I heard it, I said, "Hey, wait a minute, that's the wrong voice." :(

I must be weird or something but I didn't notice any difference with the exception of the new Stitch thing.

I did like what he said, Mahalo and have a wonderful/magical day.

Jack Wagner has not been the voice on the monorail for many years. He was recently only the spanish part. The speil for the last 15 years or so has been Matthew Hansen.

The entire spiel has been changed to give more publicity to Stitch's Great Escape which is now mentioned. There were other new announcements, but that's the only one I can remember right now.
