Monorail playset?

I'm hoping someone can help me...we have promised our son a "Monorail Playset" as a reward for potty training and I'm wondering if anyone knows if you can buy them direct through Disney World? We saw them in the gift shops when we were there last year, do they still have them? I've seen them on ebay and some other misc. toy stores online but want to be sure it's in good new condition if we're spending the money on it. Any info anyone has would be great...ie...do I just call a resort and see if their gift shop has them? Any suggestions? We're going in December and know we could get one then but I think he's just about ready and I want it waiting for him!! Thank you!!

We just got the monorail set in May, so it is still in the parks and gift shops. Just so you know, it is very cheaply made for $70. The kids love it and it looks exactly like the real thing, but it could be made more durable. It's still a lot of fun though!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I just hung up from ordering it. I'm bummed to hear that it's cheaply made for that price but my little guy has his heart set on it so we have to get it!! I'm sure we will ALL have fun with it!! Thanks again.

Oh ya!!! Are you soooo excited?! I've never been that time of year and I can't read enough/watch enough about that time of year!!!! I just can't wait..it's so magical on a "normal" day I just can't imagine what it will be like in December. I hope you have a wonderful time!!!!!!!

It is HUGE. And it makes announcements just like the real monorail, so my boys get a kick out of that!

Boys not rough!!?!? I can see it now with all THREE of our boys!! LOL!! I can't wait to get it now...it will give us all our fix before heading down to DW in just over 4 months now!! Thanks again!!!

btw, noticed you're from PA....we moved to MA 2 1/2 years ago from the Philly suberbs....are you near there??

Thanks for the update on the monorail colors available. We had gotten a light green one in December of 2007 and want to get another one this year, maybe a different color stripe. I was curious how often the colors change and how long they are available. Does anyone know. TIA.

We just got ours yesterday & the stripe was light green. We also got the Contemporary model to add to the monorail & the kids like it. Anyone know if they make a Grand Floridian to go along w/ it?

My son has had the Monorail Set, Epcot and Contemporary sets for either 5 or 6 years now (can't remember!) and they are still going strong in his room. My Dad bought these for him when they first started selling them at Disney and they have held up excellent. I am not sure how they make them now, but his has been thrown, stepped on, kicked, banged together, ect and it is still as durable as the day it was bought!

We have two monorails, Contemporary, GF, Polynesian and the Epcot Ball. We have had them a long time and they're still okay. My sons don't play with them anymore. Now they go around our Christmas tree. I'm getting the castle for my daughter for Christmas so I'm sure it will be all out to play again then. I love it!
