Monorail Pilot for adults

I didn't know about being able to sit in the pilot area until I read this board. (I love this board ) My question is, is this meant for kids. IOW will my DW and I (mid 20s) look silly asking to sit up front. Has anyone done it without kids???

I haven't done it without kids, but if you ask the platform cm nicely and are patient (in case there are others that have already asked), I can't see where it would be a problem.

Have fun...it is really "magical" to ride in the front of the monorail.

We have many times we don't care..it's so cool espically from the TCC to EPCOT. It's a must do, regardless of how young you aren't!!!

My ex boyfriend and I did it when he was 22 and I was 20. We didn't even know about it, a CM asked us if would like to. I was really neat and fun, I even still have my license.

You should do it, if you don't you might wish that you did. Plus your at Disney and its all about having fun, being care-free and silly.

My wife and I did it last year and were in our 50's. It was very cool.

My DH and I asked last week they said sure. It was the first time we asked without our kids. It was fun and no kids to distract us we're both in our 50's

DH and I did it on one trip. We sat up there with another couple. The guy asked about the licenses and the pilot said they were really meant for kids, but gave all 4 of us one anyway.

We were leaving MK and the monorail was just about to leave as we hurried up the ramp, so we got to ride in the front with the pilot. It was the first time my DH had done this and he thought it was neat.

DD & I had done it years ago when she was 8, (about 10 years ago). The pilot gave us all co-pilots licenses too. The monorail we were on started having trouble as we were leaving CR and as we arrived at TTC we had to stop just outside the station while they checked it out. They thought they had it fixed and we started to leave TTC and it stopped and we had to backup into TTC and unload.

Listening to the pilot talked to the maintenance crew about what was going on was neat.

My husb and I have done it many times, and we're in our mid 40's. He gets alittle embarrassed, but I love it. We've also been given pilot licenses without even asking. I see no reason why adults can't do this. Bet I enjoy it more than alot of kids!

DH and I have sat up there in the past both in our 20's no kids. The DH also rode it by himself and got a pilots license- The monorail guy even let him hold down the thing that makes it go- WooooHOooooooooooo

I try to ride upfront on every trip. Last month, I was in line to ride upfront and a family of 4 was standing in line and it was odvious that they have never been to Disney before so I told then about riding up front and gave up my spot for them.

When we got off at MK, you should have seen their faces, they were sooo happy and one of them taped the trip from the TTC to MK. They all got monorail pilot's licenses and they even gave me one (now I finally have one!).

I felt so good about sharing a magic moment with that family.

Similar to Cranbiz, we had asked and received the nod for the front of the monorail during Don's Extravagant Birthday Trip II. A mom came up to us and asked how many could fit, (they were 3) so we gave it to them. I often ask, and tell a few families too, since so few seem to know about it. I remember the "old" days when our family of five was ok, and no one had to bow out!

Not only have we done it (don't have kids) but I will tell you the secret to ride the whole circuit without getting booted off.

Every morning each resort is assigned a specific color monorail car, these change so we will use some examples. Let's say that you are at the Poly. Ask for the color of the day. Let's say it is Purple. Then ask the cast member if you can wait for the PURPLE car to ride in the front.

If the next car is any color but purple - WAIT! Let someone else go. When the purple car shows up and you are first in line you get to ride in front. If someone else is in the front already, they have to get out and get into the regular cars. You are only guarenteed not to be booted out from resort back to resort if you are in THAT resorts COLOR of the day!

I did this last December - I was by myself going from TTC to Epcot and the platform was empty - so when the monorail pulled up and the front was empty I asked if I could sit up front. Also a family with one child rode up front with me (but I had asked first) so they allowed all of us. I am not sure how many normally they allow. It was SO cool because it was dark and the ride was just AMAZING going to Epcot (love the longer ride and I could see what was coming and hear what was happening on his radio) The monorail pilot gave us all co-pilot licenses and we didn't even have to ask!!

I would like to take DH upfront but if there is someone already in line or already in the front then I don't bother. Sept was the first time my DH had rode the monorail (and he didn't really care for it but I think he would enjoy the front that way he can see what is going on)

We've done it, and the driver gave us the licenses as well, we didn't have to ask. We shared our ride with another adult couple.
