On the first night of our trip we have priority seating for the Kona Cafe and would like to ride the monorail around WDW afterwards. We have to pick up another couple from the airport later in the evening so I was wondering about how long the monorail takes to tour WDW and get back to the Polynesian? Thanks.

Remember there are different "loops" to the monorail. It depends on which you are taking. The time of day, the crowds (which will be affected by park hours), ect.

You can expect the Express loop to take 11 minutes, the Resort loop to take 22 minutes, and the Epcot loop to take 18 minutes.

Thank you very much. We are planning on taking the resort loop and then switching at the TTC in order to take it to Epcot. We have a little over an hour so it looks like we should have plenty of time.

What is the function of the express loop? Does it just go from MK to Epcot?

It goes between the TCC and MK without any stops. It is the one going counterclockwise around the lake. The resort monorail stops at each of the resorts and TC, MK. It runs clockwise around the lake.

BTW, if you want to go to Epcot from MK, use the express monorail. You can get off the express monorail and get right on the Epcot monorail without having to go down the ramp and then up the ramp as you wouldif you took the Resort monoral.

Is this also true if you go from Epcot to MK? Meaning, that you don't have to go up and down the ramp?

The ONLY time you do not have to use the ramps is MK to Epcot. Otherwise, all other transfers require going down and up the ramp.

If i remember correctly when I went from Epcot to MK, I had to go down the ramp and back up the MK ramp to get the monorail.
Which was good as by the time I got up the ramp I was able to ride up front in the monorail!!!

Thanks! I am glad to know I didn't waste valuable steps. My DD couldn't stand that monorail trip from Epcot to MK and the ramp business. She would have rather taken a bus.

We never went from MK to Epcot. I'll have to remember that for our next trip. I only wish it was next week!!

another option once getting off the monorail from Epcot is to take the boat over to MK from the TTC!!! You just have to walk over to the boat!

Our friends will be staying at the CR......so if they want to go to Epcot will they have to take the monorail to the TTC and then go to Epcot on that monorail?
