Ok vets and monorail enthusiasts, you would think by now that I know this one but I can't seem to figure it out! Which way does the resort monorail loop go: clockwise or counter-clockwise?? If you started off at the TTC, would your first stop be th CR or the POLY? I am totally thinking the loop goes TTC-Poly-GF-MK-CR-TTC. Is this correct?

Question 2: Which way does the Epcot monorail go? Let's say you started at MK, got on the monorail to Epcot...would you pass directly through the CR (without stopping of course) first, then stop at TTC and then on to Epcot or does the monorail pick up/drop off TTC people first before hitting the MK?

Help! Dh and I have a bet running on the answer!

From MK.. both the express and resort mono go through the CR.

From MK to epcot.. you must transfer.. it doesn't go directly from MK to Epcot.

Hi,

The resort (local) monorail goes clockwise MK-CR-TTC-Poly-GF.

The express monorail goes counter-clockwise MK-TTC.

Hope this helps!

The Epcot monorail goes from the TTC to Epcot and runs on a different track. As Flynnibus said, you won't go through or near the hotels on the Epcot monorail.

You have the Monorail Resort Loop correct. TTC-POLY-GF-MK-CR-TTC

The EPCOT monorail goes from the TTC to EPCOT and back to the TTC in a loop with no additional stops. The EPCOT loop doesn't stop at any resorts.

Who won? :)

I won (for the most part). I was fairly certain that we walked from CR to the MK because the monorail went clockwise and we didn't want to wait for the whole resort loop when we were their last!

Now as for the express monorail and the Epcot monorail...let me see if I got it now:

If you are at the MK, you get on the "express monorail to the TTC" which apparently runs counter clockwise, passing through Gf and Poly without stopping. You transfer to the Ecpot monorail at the TTC, and go straight to Epcot. So...where does the express monorail go after it drops people off at the TTC??? Does it do an "express run" TO the MK, running through CR without stopping, to drop off a load at MK??

If you are coming FROM epcot, you must transfer to the MK monorail at the TTC, yes?

I'm just trying to figure out the configuration of the monorail track. I've only ever seen two beams next to each other, so I'm wondering how some of the trains transfer and such without crossing over/through one another. Maybe I'm just completely lost! For example, the line from the TTC to Epcot must just go forward and backwards and not in a "loop" to Epcot, otherwise the beamn would cross over the resort loop or express MK loop at some point, unless there is a "switchover track" like at a regular train station. this would ALSO suggest thay only ONE Epcot monorail is running on the line at any one given time. That can't be right...can it??

Yes, that's right. The express monorail goes express TTC-MK, then MK-TTC...forever and ever..

From Epcot, you must get off at the TTC then take the resort or express monorail to the MK.

There is only one monorail track for Epcot but it is sort of like a stretched rubber band with the loops being at the TTC and Epcot. As you leave the TTC you make a loop and head toward Epcot. You could very well pass another monorail on the other side of the "band" as you speed along. At Epcot the loop goes around FW before pulling into the station.

At the TTC, all three monorail lines run parallel.

The resort monorail is on the inside (lagoon side) of the express monorail.

So the lines never do cross.

The Epcot monorail is also a loop. It doesn't go forward and backward. The Epcot monorail part of the station is over to the right of the Express and Resort monorails (as you're facing MK), so it's kept seperate and doesn't cross over the other beams. It makes a sharp turn to the right just as it comes out of the TTC to turn back towards Epcot.

Correct, its just a simple loop.

Yes

Make it easy on yourself.. go to

And just look at the overhead views directly :) The loops are seperate and do not intersect/cross over

flynnibus: Bless you! Why I drive myself crazy with little detail stuff like this I'll never know! This was most helpful. Thanks!

this would ALSO suggest thay only ONE Epcot monorail is running on the line at any one given time. That can't be right...can it??[/QUOTE]

You're right.....that can't be (and isn't) correct. There are two tracks running from TTC to EPCOT. Therefore you are passing other monorails that are going to or returning from EPCOT.

The Epcot monorail is a loop, close together in the middle and big loops at each end. Just like the Express (which has at least two trains running on it at any time) and the resort monorail (which could have five at one time), the Epcot monorail has multiple trains running on the loop at one time. One at the Epcot station, one at the TTC station, and maybe some in between.

To distill it to its essence:

There are three monorail routes, all completely separate from each other, except that they all have a stop at the TTC:

- The resorts monorail, which runs clockwise from TTC-Poly-GF-MK-CR-TTC
- The MK Express monorail, which only stops at MK and TTC
- The EPCOT Express monorail, which only stops at EPCOT and TTC

The only place that offers the ability to get on any of the three routes is the TTC. MK offers the ability to get on the resorts or MK Express route.
