Monorail Front Seat

Havent seen it lately, but it was in all of the local papers and news stations down here.

I thought there was something on the back of the ticket media, whatever it may be, that does limit the liability.

Well, the BIG problem with that wording(if there) and the monorail issue, is that you are never in a park to ride the monorail. You could very easily, and I'm sure a lot of people have, rode on the monorail and never had anything ticket wise.

Has anyone heard what may have caused the accident? (Sorry if this has already been addressed somewhere else-- I'm relatively new here.) It was such a terrible tragedy, and my heart goes out to the young man's family.

It was 2:00am, the night of July 4. They were moving one train off the Epcot track and onto the MK track to go to storage for the night, using a track switch. Somehow the switch did not happen and the train was still on the Epcot track and backed into the other train coming into the station from Epcot.

I was wondering if the 2 trains involved are back in service yet. Anybody know?

They were heavily damaged, probably not. They are probably impounded for the investigation.

Oh i am sad to hear that you cant ride up front anymore.

Maybe they will bring it back and have limited times and only during the light of day.

is the TTC-Epcot monorail running again?

Yes. Monorail service resumed a few days after the accident.

The 2 trains involved were taken back to the spur line behind the MK and held for investigation and have been released to Disney. That was about the same time the NTSB official went back to California to finish the investigation.

No and they probably wont be for several weeks. I am thinking probably around Oct 12th as the Behind the Steam Trains Tour has been canceled until then. Also, I drove back there a few days ago, and all of the monorail bay doors, plus the steam train doors(which are under the monorails) were closed. They are normally open for ventilation.

I hope they bring it back, too, but I could certainly understand if they had second thoughts about it. I'm sure they'd have concerns about passenger safety, not to mention liability issues.
