Do you take the TTC monorail or the Poly monorail if going to MK?
If going to Epcot better to walk to TTC?

WDW has three monorail lines.

1. The Express Monorail operates between the TTC and MK without stopping at the resorts.
2. The Resort Monorail stops at the TTC, Polynesian, GF, MK, and Contemporary, in that order.
3. The Epcot monorail runs between the TTC and Epcot.

You cannot walk from Epcot to the TTC.

Poly going to MK. Much quicker to walk to the TTC than go on monorail. It stops at GF, MK, Contempory then TTC before loop back to Poly.

I would take the monorail from the Poly to MK. You'll be on the resort monorail and will make a stop at GF before getting to MK, but it is pleasant and doesn't take that long.

When you return to Poly from MK, consider taking the resort boat. I'm not sure that it makes that much of a difference time-wise, but it can be a nice change of scenery.

To get to Epcot, you are better off walking to TTC and then catching the Epcot monorail. If you took the resort monorail to TTC, you'd travel from Poly to GF to MK to CR and then to TTC.

You would take the monorail from the Poly to go to MK. It's the second stop, after stopping at the GF.

It's been a long time since I stayed there and I can't remember our building name (it's changed anyway) but it was about halfway between the main building and the TTC. We always walked to the TTC to go to Epcot. For MK, we usually went to the main building.

For MK, if you are staying in the Tahiti or Rapa Nui buildings (the mist easterly) the TTC and then the Express monorail is the fastest. The more westerly you are from there the more efficient the resort monorail in the GCH becomes. We always take the resort launch though since its about as fast and it's next stop is MK.

Regardless of building, the best way to Epcot is to walk to the TTC and take the Epcot monorail. The resort monorail take at least 15 minutes to get to the TTC (not including the wait for it at the GCH) and the walkto the TTC is 5-7.

We've stayed in Tahiti and Rarotonga. From both we walked to the TTC and took the Epcot monorail. It is much faster. Going to MK we always walked to the GCH. MK is right after the GF so it's very quick. Coming back to the Poly from MK we took the resort launch. We liked that better than taking the monorail since it was 2 or 3 stops away (depending if we got off at the TTC or GCH).

Coming back from Epcot, you have to get off at the TTC. We just walked back to our longhouse both times even though Rarotonga is right next to the GCH. It was quicker than waiting for the monorail if it wasn't already in the station.

I agree with everything most posters have said...EXCEPT that during a very busy week or very busy time of day the TTC can get crowded. If you are going to WDW during a busy week or you are trying to go MK at 8:40am - taking the resort monorail might be the best option.

One more aspect for your consideration, since I don't know your personal story: To get to the Poly resort monorail platform you need to get to the second floor of the Poly main building. That could mean taking the stairs or if you have a scooter/stroller you have to wait for the small elevator. When the restaurants are full they are slow and crowded. At the TTC, you have to go up a fairly large ramp to get to the monorail platform, still that is perhaps the easier/faster option if you can't do stairs.

Still more - from the TTC you can get many buses to a number of places. sometimes it's toss up, but sometimes the TTC is better than the Poly bus stop for getting to the other parks, too.

Last - folks have mentioned the resort shuttle boat. There's also the big ferry boat at the TTC. It's often a little slow, but it can be fun. If TTC is crowded taking the ferry may beat the monorail wait. The ferry holds a lot of people!

Here is one factor a lot of people seem to forget. Even though it would make more sense for those staying in the Tahiti Longhouse to take the Express Monorail from the TTC when going to the Magic Kingdom since it's close to there, if you are planning on going during AM Extra Magic Hour the Express Monorail doesn't operate. So you would need to take the Resort Monorail from the Great Ceremonial House.

As for getting to the Epcot Monorail no matter what Longhouse you stay in it's faster to walk to the TTC when going to the Epcot Monorail that's located over there.

We always stay at Tahiti and walk to the TTC. Last year I think we took the ferry over to the MK more than we did the monorail, though.
