We have three kids and would like to try to ride up front once during our trip (total of 5 people). Any chance they would let us?

TIA,

Betty

We had 3 kids with us on our last trip, and it was still just 4 people allowed up front. My DH allowed me to sit with the boys; what a sweetheart! :love1:

So, one of you may have to sit in the back by yourself...!

Yep, same experience as princess. The 3 kids and I sat up front and dh sat in first car. Bummer.

Us too!!!

Family of five. DH and kids rode!!! Had a great time without me!!!

They are REALLY firm on this - I had my DD 3, DS - infant, mom DH and myself and they wouldn't let my mom ride with us - she let us go without her but it TOTALLY ruined it for my b/c I felt bad that she couldn't see how excited my DD was (plus it was her first look at the castle and my mom missed it) :guilty: Wow - I didn't realize how sad I was still!!

Anyone know why the strict rules on this? Interesting.

There is not a whole lot of room up there so i would think that maybe it is about safety :confused3

Another family of 5 who was allowed just 4 up front on at least different trips.

Thanks guys - I guess!

Looks like the one rule at Disney that is enforced consistently :sad1:

I hope dh doesn't mind riding in the back by himself! :ssst:

What about strollers?? We will be traveling with a stroller that can be folded up, will they allow that?? If not I guess we could just take the trip without it since we are staying at the CR. :confused3

As a former Monorail Pilot, I can tell you that only FOUR guests are allowed in the front. Big, small, young, old, doesn't matter. Once they've been born, they count. Monorail Pilots are *VERY* strict about this rule, and not even Management will budge on this. It keeps everything fair for everyone, and minimizes any disputes.

At one time, more than 4 were allowed. However, for safety reasons, the limitation was put onto the front cab many years ago. (I can't go into details as to the reasoning.)

The rule is strictly enforced because we have SO many problems and situations with the front cab. It's sad, but Disney Security and even Orange County Deputies often have to be called to resolve front cab situations. In order to minimize any problems, the rules have been created, and are strictly enforced. This way, someone can't go "Well, THEY had 5, why can't we?" or "We did it last time!" Every ride is as fair as possible.

Strollers are allowed in the front, so long as they can be folded, and are somewhat compact. Certain larger strollers simply will not fit in the front cab. Those extra large strollers may be placed in the car behind the front cab.

On a similar note, guests using wheelchairs or other mobility devices are also more than welcome to ride in the front, as long as they can transfer from the wheelchair. The wheelchair would then have to be placed in one of the cars.

We have been lucky enough to ride up front twice now. One time, when we asked if we could ride in the front (had never ridden there at this point) we were told that no, there were already 4 people in there. But, a nice lady took her son out, saying, 'We'ver ridden from MK to here(GF) and it was great, why don't you take our place?' Really nice. My dh did have to sit by himself that time tho. We only went as far as MK that time. SEcond trip we were at the Polynesian and it was the first run of the morning. We were going to CM's for breakfast. Had the whole monorail to ourselves!!! It was great sitting up front, having a great conversation with the pilot on our last day.

Thank you so much!! Once again the DIS to the rescue!!!

Thanks guys!!!

There were four of us. But we had a big stroller - only folded in half- (not umbrella type) My DH and two sons sat up front I had to sit in the back with the stroller. The pilot even gave my boys printed co-pilot license with a picture of the monorail. On a different trip got to ride up front (all of us) same stroller from TTC to Epcot. Guess it depends on the CM.
Just noticed on the back of the co-pilot license it says
"Front Cab Capacity - Total of 4 Guests"
