Monorail, extra magic hour

I've never done this before, because I've never stayed at a Disney hotel. Can you line up for entrance to the park at the monorail instead of the main gate and go into the park via the monorail on extra magic hour mornings? (or really any morning?)

If you can, is it a good idea to do this or is it better to walk up front?

While it is open for EMH (thanks @gottalovepluto) it's a bad idea to do first thing. The first monorail doesn't run until the park is open (and is sometimes delayed), so by the time you actually get in, you've wasted a big chunk of rope-drop time.

It can be fun/leg-saving to take to and from the hotel later in the day, but not first thing in the morning.

Good to know!! Thanks!

@cinnaminny This is wrong. The monorail runs during EMH. Literally just rode it during EMH a couple weeks ago & I have been doing so for years.

However, I do not recommend it if you’re looking to rope drop EMH. It’s not unusual for the monorail to still be in testing and to get open after EMH starts or even close to regular park opening. I have lined up & waited for EMH there but I knew it was just a gamble it would be running on time (end of trip, really wanted to minimize my walking that morning). I think they allowed us up right around the start of EMH.

The best thing to remember is the monorail during EMH will take more park time than walking so if you’re having a chill type morning go for it but if you want to hit up every ride you can during EMH pass.

Thanks for clarifying the EMH part; I’ll change the post above to be accurate!
