Monorail Drink-A-Thon

best beer in the world definitely goes to Wowzer's Wheat...seasonal beer at the big river brewery....only in the summer.

going to spend atleast 2 hours there on our trip in june for just that one beer.

I think you need to try the Raz beer at Mickey Finn's Brewery!! (just sayin!!) also seasonal...

We're on our way... out of the house tomorrow morning at 5:15 and in Orlando by 10:30, what could be better? I can think of one, getting to the pool and having a few cocktails! We're so looking forward to relaxing and enjoying all the great drinks everyone has been talking about! Oh, and enjoying the parks, too...

I'll check back in next Friday...

Pam

Have a great trip! Think of all us lushes while you're chillin' & drinkin' poolside!

I really gotta try the brewery at the Boardwalk... maybe on my trip in Sept... I'm trying to figure out how to fit in another trip b/w the one next week and my birthday.... I just hate going to the World during the summer... it's so hot and crowded... I can visit mom and dad, I guess...

My favorite beer is Killian's Irish Red since way back when it was actually imported (before big American brewer bought it). However, lately I'm really into Worfsteiner (sp?)... a dark Belgian that's it's just outstanding. I have a preference for ales rather than lagers, especially the amber ales... but beer is beer and I'll drink almost anything except Bud... gives me a headache. Oh and Amstel Light (sorry, ahhhhhhhh, I know you like that one), ugh. I shy away from the American mass produced ones (I know, I know, Killians is now mass produced, but it's still good). One of the best I tried was Presidente in the Dominican Republic (trust me, it doesn't taste the same as the one sold in the States). I like trying the micro brews (I actually met a master brewer at a friend's house and he brought his own recipes... wow, that was amazing).

But don't get me wrong, I like wine too... but I prefer the Cabernet. I can drink Merlot or Pinot Noir (can you tell I like reds?), but Cab is my fav. I also LOVE sangria and I make a pretty good one, if I do say so myself.... Uhmmm, gives me an idea for a refreshing drink poolside....

We will be spending Father's Day on the Boardwalk (ESPN, Big River Brewery, possibly Jelly Roll's), so we will have to try that one!

Never been in Jelly Roll's - is this somewhere we would feel comfortable bringing our 3-year old DS to?

Jellyrolls is ever so much fun, but it is 21 and over only. We spent New Year's Eve there this last Dec/Jan - it truly is probably my favorite night spot. Be sure to go on a night that Scotty and Ray are playing - they are the best!

We were at Big River in January. Food was good, service was good, and the beer sampler was REALLY good. I know that BR used to get spotty reviews from some, but I can't wait to go back!

but beer is beer and I'll drink almost anything except Bud... gives me a headache.
Ha, me too! I purposely avoid the beer vendors at Wrigley because most sell Bud/Bud Light.

On another note, I have a question for all of you. I am embarassed to say that I have never been to PI, but I am defintely planning on going on our next trip. What are your favorite places?

Not to mention the 16 oz Heiniken, Becks, Tecate and other premium beers cost about the same under the stands! Have you tried the Bob Chin Mai Tais? They are delish!

Hey Robin

Yes, the beer stand you are talking about is the one I usually go to. Old Style is OK, but over the years it's distinctive "smoky" flavor has fallen out of my favor. I usually have a couple of Heinies, but I have not yet tried the Bob Chinn Mai Tais. I'll have to try one next time (it'll take some of the pain away from watching the Cubs!).

When's the next game you'll be at? We can hoist a beer to the Cubs & DVC (my two "happy places".) If you are ever at a game, check out Section 204, row 11, seats 5-9. There's a good chance I'll be there!

Hey, I love your Cubs logo. Where did you get it?

My seats are on the 3rd base side in Aisle 213. I'll be at the Sunday, May 29th Rockies game. Then, I'm in for the Red Sox series. I'll PM you my exact seat numbers so we can get together. I have to agree on the "Happy Places". There's no place like Wrigley and WDW!

I found the Cubby Bear by Googleing pictures and I added the "Believe" braclet using PhotoDeluxe. I can send you the original bitmap if you want :).

BTW, I can't stand Old Style. Too salty for me, and I love salt. I'll drink Bud Light if I'm feeling too carby for a Heinie.

I just finished the last post and humbly bow to the creator of this post and request admittance into the LOTW club. Three weeks from now my dw (w/our teenagers in tow) will have finished her fiesta margarita me a Dos Equis, stopped at Germany for a cold Dinklelager and ended at the pub for a black & tan for her and a Boddingtons for me! Counting the days. . . :goodvibes

Hmmmm...I have not been getting email notifications for this thread....gotta check that out...NOT COOL! :confused3

Pooh-heehee, I loved that station. I am still a country music fan, but my heart belongs to country music of the late 60s and the 70's!

Disdiscountman-WELCOME! You sound like you fit in well! you know, the lovely gal who started this thread never posts anymore! I wish she would!

I'm here wildernesslodgelover, I read these every day. My son laughs at how far this thread has gone. I'm hoping to make it for the Food and Wine Festival. That will be 2 firsts for me. The first Wine and Food Festival and my first ever Solo trip. You guys have convinced me not to wait until I can find someone to go with me. :drinking1

Another beer song (from Dueling Pianos on Disney Wonder).

Sing to the tune of "Do(e), a Deer" from the "Sound of Music" ;)

Do - What I buy beer with,
Ra(y) - The guy I buy it from,
Mi (me) - Who I buy beer for,
Fa - The distance to the store
So - I'll have another beer.
La - la, la, la, la beer
Ti (tea) - No, thanks, I'll have a another beer.
Do - Which brings us back to beer, beer, beer.

:earsboy:

Joeepcotrocks- The song made my day :teeth:

I'll be singing it 'round the world with a beer in my hand. :cool1:

Well if you're there the first week of October and want a fellow solo traveler to go on a Monorail Drink-A-Thon with, I'll be there and eager to go. Actually, I usually plan some kind of a "meet" with a bunch of online people. Last two times it's been IllumiNations cruises, but this time I was thinking of getting a bunch of folks together for a Monorail Drink-A-Thon. Have to wait and see though. I've mentioned it to a couple of folks ande they think it's a great idea, so who know.

This is SO familiar. I either heard it on the Disney Magic or on The Simpsons. But I have heard it before. Only reason I know that is because of the La - la la la la la beer - only lyrics I could remember. :rolleyes1
