What are the best lounges & drinks on the monorail?

I finally got a reasonable rate for the Contemporary and want to take DH for an Anniversary Crawl!

Remember the monorail shuts down an hour after MK closes now. If the MK closes early you may have to make it a bus or boat crawl.

It might be open later if there is a Halloween or Christmas party at MK. I have seen different reports about it shutting down at the end of the party and shutting down an hour after the fireworks (10:30).

Thanks! I checked the night we're looking at - February 19th - and it looks like Extra Magic Hours have the park open until 2am!! :cool1:

The monorail does not run during evening EMH; it shuts down one hour after normal park closing. On February 19th MK "closes" at 11:00 PM so the monorails will run until 12:00 midnight.

That still works - the park closes at 11 so that means the monorail should be running 'til midnight. :thumbsup2

We are staying at the Polynesian in a few weeks. We were planning on going to Epcot when it's open late until midnight. Will we be able to get back to our hotel on the monorail if the Magic Kingdom closes early? Thanks!

Don't forget to try the sushi bar at the Poly and Outer Rim at CR...both pretty good.

Yes because that is the monorail to the TTC. You can then walk from the TTC to the Poly.

OP be sure to hit the Tambu Lounge at the Poly and have a Lapu Lapu.

If Epcot closes at 9, the Epcot Monorail will stop running at 10.

If Epcot closes at 10 (it closes at 10 on some weekends this month and next month), it will stop running at 11.

It won't be running for all of evening EMH.

There will be buses available after that. So at midnight you will still be able to get back to your resort, but likely not by monorail.

My optimal lounge crawl for the Monorail resorts, starting at the Contemporary, would be, in order:

The Wave Lounge (Contemporary)
Kona Island Sushi Bar (Polynesian)
Tambu Lounge (Polynesian)
Barefoot Pool Bar (Polynesian)
Mizner's Lounge (Grand Floridian)
Narcoosee's Bar (Grand Floridian)
Outer Rim Lounge (Contemporary)

I'd substitute the last one with the Top of the World Lounge in Bay Lake Tower, if I had access to it.

So we plan on doing the monorail crawl on our upcoming trip in December. Figured it was a good way to spend our arrival day, give us a chance to check out the holiday decorations at the resorts and a chance to try a Lapu Lapu. :rotfl:

I have been trying to find a list of appetizers that the bars may offer for purchase. We plan on making a meal out of apps and drinks. Can anyone link me to something like this? Someone mentioned a Sushi Bar at Poly. While I would be game for this the rest of my party wouldn't be.

And we plan on doing this late afternoon / early evening, so we will not have an issue with the monorail closing.

Ok...upon further google'ing I found some menus...I think some of the menu items will satisfy folks in my party.

So it's OK to visit Narcoossee's and exclusively order a glass of wine at the bar or something? How late is the restaurant open?

Love this idea. Our trip will be with 3 children under 5. I shall live vicariously through your crawl!!

EJRJ - I am available as a "rent-a-babysitter" I keep telling folks in my office who have small children. Pay my hotel and airfare to Disney and I will be the full-time tourguide/trip planner/babysitter...I will even stay in the room with the kids. :rotfl:

So far no one has taken me up on that offer! :sad2:

We tried to do that this past Holiday season, just be aware if you do it on a weekend there are a lot of locals added to the mix looking at the decorations too. We had to wait for 3 monorails before we could enter and then we were stuck on the track for 45 minutes because of a problem somewhere on the line. It could mess up any plans you might have so plan loosely and go with the flow.
