Monorail contruction- significant impact on my trip- fyi

OK, so for a 7:00 dinner reservation on a Monday at 'Ohana (too bad I didn't make it for 7:30), is our best option from BLT to walk to MK and then take the boat to the Poly?

That or the Poly bus, depending on how bad the lines are for both. If they're both awful lines you might want to consider the MK to TTC ferry and then walk to the Poly.

I'm not sure how safe this idea is, but every time we took a park bus from CR they stopped at Poly next. You may want to ask at the bus stops if that's the case because that might be your fastest option.

Going by our February trip there is a good chance the monorail will be back up and running before 7pm.

OP, I am so sorry this happened to you.

Its funny, I simply do not think its a guests responsibility to comb through websites and make sure they stay up to date in case their resort pulls an amenity they are paying top dollar for. People have lives and even seasoned Disney travelers sometimes have other things on their mind.

I can also tell you that if I was going very soon, and I had time to disboard and research, I'd be researching the whole MDE, Magic Bands and Fp+.

I simply refuse to blame the victim (because to me when you pay for something and its not delivered you are a victim of sorts imho) because people didn't know about this in time to change resorts and or plans to accommodate for this monorail work. Which is much needed but should have been communicated to every single guest.

Not everyone has the time to disboard. I go months without coming on here anymore vs the old days when I was on all the time. Just too much going on now and the only reason I have been on the past few days is because I am sick lol.

I knew the monorail was down in January and it still was a pain in the tail. We really enjoy shuttling around the MK and MK resorts via monorail for a bite to eat or a drink here and there (we usually stay at BC, BW or YC). It completely changed our trip and I really missed the monorail. I would be very very disappointed to arrive at one of the MK resorts and be told about the limited hours. From the sound of it, Disney did a poor job communicating this (and continues to do so).

This is good info as we are not staying there but have ADR at Chef Mickeys. When taking the blue flag boat from the MK the Contemporary, is that the first stop or does it got to Fort Wilderness first?

This is helpful info, thanks. We will ask when we get there.

With any luck, the monorail maintenance will be completed ahead of schedule and not affect our stay. :rotfl2:

No boat. You can walk to the Contemporary, or take a boat from MK ro Wilderness Lodge then another boat to th Contemporary (or bus from MK to Contemporary).

I just wanted to clarify that Disney does disclose on their website that the monorail is going to be down for maintenance (sections are bolded as per how they are on the webpage):

It is also listed under the Resort Amenities section on each of the webpages of the three Magic Kingdom monorail resorts:

When this information has been discussed before, some guests did receive notification of the closure before their trip. I'm guessing that for at least some of the people who did not get it, the e-mail went into their trash, or was just missed.

I don't blame people for not knowing. But I do think people should be aware that even when the monorail is up and running, it is not totally reliable. It does break down and it does have long delays. It is always best to have a back up transportation plan, just in case either of those things unexpectedly happen.

That's what I like about these boards even tho something is posted on the WDW website we can get first hand accounts of how the change effects their overall experience and tips.
