Hi. Our flight lands at MCO at 10am and based on what I have read on the DIS we should be at ASSp by 11:30am. After checkin, we plan to check out the resort, take the monorail and go to DTD for 3pm ADR at TRex. What would be our best plan here...take the bus to MK and get the Monorail there, go around the loop, get off at one of the resorts (ie CR) and take the bus from there to DTD?

To go to DTD from your resort, take the direct bus there--all resorts offer tranportation to DTD. The MK and monorail would be a major diversion and well out of your way.

The Monorail does not go to DTD at all.
To get there from AS Sports you need to take a bus directly to DTD. No need to go to the MK. No need to get on the Monorail and off at another resort.
Direct bus to DTD from your resort

The monorail operates only between the Magic Kingdom, Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) near the Magic Kingdom, and Epcot. There's no monorail at Allstar Sports or at Downtown Disney.

Are you planning to go to the Magic Kingdom at all and go to DTD from there? Or are you planning to go directly from the resort? If you want to go from the resort, take the bus to DTD at Allstar Sports. No need to go to the Magic Kingdom at all.

If you're at the Magic Kingdom you would need to go to a resort (not the TTC) to get a bus to DTD. So the best way to do that would probably be to walk to the Contemporary and take the bus from there.

ETA Very confused on what the OP is asking.

Actually, it sounds like the OP wants to just take a ride on the monorail before heading over to DTD. I'd wait to do that on their MK day, though. That's a long way out of their way to go just to ride it.

If you just want a monorail ride, it's going to take a bunch of time for you to get that in and still make it to Downtown Disney. I'd say that is not the best time for you to work in a monorail ride. If you can, do it AFTER your meal - take the bus from DTD to the Contemporary, do a circuit on the monorail, get out at MK and catch the bus back to Sports.

Seems like they are under the impression that the only way to get to DTD is from the MK resort area.

Thats what I thought and started to post that the monorail doesn't go from All Star Sports to the MK. Three routes blah blah blah and then wasn't sure.

That's what I did, and then realized I didn't really understand what the OP was asking. There are a lot of permutations of responses one could give to the OP's question.

I'm going with them wanting to take a monorail ride before they go to lunch at DTD.

Just thinking of how long it takes to get to DTD by bus is telling me it may not work out for them.

You could also take the bus to Epcot & then monorail to TTC the an MK resort then DTD. Extra Monorail loop :goodvibes I love the monorail! Grab the either mk or Epcot bus which ever comes first, Try to guess which bus will be first.

If you're just looking to kill 3 hours or so with superfluous disney transportation then I would recommend:

1. Get on a bus at All Star Sports for the Magic Kingdom
2. When you get to the Magic kingdom bear left and line up at the ferry dock
3. Take the Ferry across 7 seas lagoon to the TTC
4. At TTC get on the Monorail to Epcot (more scenic with a little spin through the park)
5. At Epcot get a bus to OKW or Port Orleans
6. At OKW or Port Orleans get the ferry to DTD

Alternative if you are making good time:
1-4 same as above
5. Walk through Epcot to the International Gateway
6. Board friendship boat to DHS
7. At DHS get bus to OKW or Port Orleans
8. At OKW or Port Orleans get the ferry to DTD

NICE! Well, you did say 'superfluous'. I find myself wishing the next response to be a map of your route by ROBO. :worship:

Like the others said, take the bus directly from your hotel to DTD. If you have a reservation, do not take the monorail from MK to another resort. We did that, because we have plently of time, and ended up waiting about 20 minutes for a bus to come to CR. It would have been faster to go back to our hotel (Sports) and take a bus to DTD. If you have free time later, I'd take the monorail and check out different resorts.

I was wondering if they are getting DL DTD and WDW DTD mixed up as I know I have read that at DL there is a monorail station at their DTD.

OP: Sorry, I had not meant to post my previous message yet, but my computer is doing funny things today. Anyway, I meant to say that when I first read your post, I thought you had gotten DL and WDW DTDs mixed up. Then during my second reading, I realized I had totally read your post incorrectly.

Like the other posters I would suggest after exploring your resort for a little bit, that you should see about heading to DTD before your reservation. Then you can explore a bit. After your reservation, you can explore a bit more or head to the hotels on the monorail. I would suggest going to Contemporary. Then you can take the monorail from there over to Poly and then over to GF and then to MK where you can then walk over and catch a bus back to your resort. This might save you some transporation time.

I apologize if I wasn’t clear in my initial post. This is my family’s first visit to WDW and my return to the World after many years. I thought it might be nice to check out the overall layout of the land and get our bearings by taking the monorail and WDW transit before our ADR at TRex. I was just trying to get some input. Thank you to those that have provided suggestions as I do not know how long Disney transportation will take.
