Monorail at closing

Seeing another monorail post reminded me of a question I had.

Is the monorail nuts at closing/in the evening?

We are staying at Stovall's and I was thinking taking the monorail to DTD might save our tired feet a bit at the end of the day, but obviously it probably wouldn't be worth it if we had to wait forever to get on.

Last time we stayed at the DLH we thought it might be more convenient to take the monorail back at closing. Kids and I took the monorail while DH walked. He got there long before we did. The line for the monorail was REALLY long. This was right before Labor Day, so not the busiest time.

This has been our experience as well---crazy long lines---that's not to say that it is always this way, just the times we have actually made a point to look!

It has been so long since we've taken the Monorail out of Disneyland at closing---does anyone know if the Monorail, at closing time, is limited to Disney property guests only? I thought I had remembered that being brought up some time ago:confused3

No, it's for anyone as long as you are in line before the park closes.

My family did this at closing during our August 2013 trip. CM's were enthusiastically windmilling their arms, directing all the stragglers onto the last train of the night.

Most park attractions close the queue at official park close and cycle the attraction until the queue is empty. But the Disneyland Monorail is a little more complicated because they schedule only one train to depart just a minute or two after official closing. Cast members close the queue entrance, but there is only one train. CM's do their best to ensure everyone gets on board, but the monorail driver sticks to their schedule as best as possible. CM's working the queue do not have any authority over the driver, but they do their best to get everyone on that last train. But I've seen passengers lazily arriving at the platform just as the last monorail leaves the station. (Maybe they thought their large group could all sit together if they were first on the next train -- too bad there was no next train.)

TOTALLY nutso at closing time. I wouldn't bother.

Don't count on it to be open. Last night Disneyland hours were to be until 9pm, but the Monorail was closed at 7 when we tried to use it. I did not see it running after that while in the parks through the night.
