We are staying at DisneyLand Hotel and will have a 7am MM in DL at which our first ride will be Nemo. In this case, would we be better off taking the monorail?

Thanks!

No, you're better off walking. I'm not sure what time the monorail starts running but we always walk. We get up at 5:30 and leave the hotel by 6:15 for a 7:00 MM.

The monorail rarely runs that early. In fact, the first monorail train does not leave the station until the moment when the Disneyland rope drop happens.

Walk.

Walking will get you to the Nemo cue much faster. We only use the DTD Monorail to get to the parks later in the day after a nap.

This is the key to the decision of monorail versus walking. The walkers have a huge headstart.

Even if they were running that early, umm what are the chances that they are at least running two? If they are only running one, the line wait for monorail at the station can be crazy busy—that is if they are even running them at early. It’s best to take them out of the park at the end of your day…ºoº

Just my 2 cents, which probably isn't even worth that, because I've never been to DLR, but.....the "Unofficial Guide" said that Nemo is not a good choice to ride first thing because of how long it takes the ride to load, and the length of the ride. UG says you could waste 30-70 minutes of precious early morning touring time by doing Nemo first. They recommend going during a parade or fireworks instead.

Does anyone agree or disagree with this? I would like to know, because we definitely want to ride Nemo during our trip.:confused3

I'll vouch for it...I recently took a friend who hadn't been to the Park since Nemo had opened & she wanted to go on Nemo first thing in the morning. We did get on Nemo with about a 10 minute wait, but when we got done with that ride, the lines had already started to be loooong for the rides I usually go on first (gotta be in line first thing for Peter Pan or you'll be waiting at least an hour unless it's a weekday, in early spring, when it's pouring rain! :lmao:).

So, basically, you have a choice: a short line for one ride (Nemo, which, IMO, is worth seeing but not worth standing in line for hours to see, though others may disagree), or short lines for several rides whose lines will get long early and stay long for the rest of the day (the dark rides in Fantasyland, or one of the Mountains).

I would do Nemo first on a non-MM day. And tackle Fantasyland during MM. We have been able to get all of FL done during that hour (minus Dumbo & Carousel). Then we head over to Space Mountain, get FP for later and then ride.

We have two MM days and I was planning on using one to hit Nemo and the other to hit only FL. Plus we have other FL time built in as well.

well the day we went it must have been unusual then. The monorail began at 8:01 according to my watch, and we arrived at TL around 8:10 and they were just loading a new boat (no one was getting off, so it was either a new boat, or the first one) and had no wait (ok, like 2 minutes). Also, I watched as we were coming in and I saw NO walkers except park employees. But I'd only do this if you have another EE for Fantasyland. Because it did eat up half the hour.

Edit: Doh, I see you do have two EE. I was happy the way it worked out for us, FWIW.

I agree with what most of the previous posters have stated, but wanted to share our experience with early morning monorail.

We too were at DLH and on a Sunday MM sauntered over to the monorail at 7:15ish. The MM started at 8, public opening at 9. The monorail came at 7:20 - we were told it was the second one of the day. We were in Tomorrowland in ten minutes and in line for Nemo right away. The walk to the mororail from the DLH is soooo close and once you exit the monorail you are right there at Nemo. It worked great for us. I've heard there are no guarantees that the monorail opens early, but in our case, it did. IF and I reiterate IF you have two MM and are staying at PP or DLH, I recommend taking the monorail into the park and catching Nemo first thing.

Have a magical trip. :)
