Hi!

We're leaving soon for a trip that will include parks Monday-Friday. This is our first WDW trip with kids and we're so excited! Of course, our first instinct is to hit MK first thing in the morning on Monday, but I've read that Monday is an awful day at MK crowdwise (probably because other people have the same idea we do)! We're staying onsite and I had planned to do the AK EMH Monday morning, but DH says he just can't imagine not taking the kids to the Magic Kingdom FIRST. This is July, so of course every park will be crowded all day every day, but I'm just trying to schedule us so that the kids (ages 3 and 1) will be subjected to as little line-waiting as possible.

Any opinions on whether we should go to MK Monday morning or do AK EMH and save MK for Monday night or Tuesday morning?

Thanks so much from a real newbie!

We were there on a Monday last month and it did seem more crowded than it did later in the week. It was also a Spectro night so that may have had something to do with it.

With your little ones, I'd get to Fantasy Land as soon as the park opens. You should be able to get quite a bit done before it gets too crowded. Use fast pass whenever you can! I can't emphasize this enough. You can do so much that you'd never be able to without it.

You'll probably want to take a nap break after lunch and then you can always hop to a less crowded park afterwards. That way, your kids can still get the MK experience but not have to endure the Monday crowds.

If DH cant imagine not going to MK first, I would go there first. I would get there at opening, stay until the crowds are heavy then switch parks. Epcot is just two monarail rides away. I also choose a park by which bus gets to stop first.

Have fun

If you can get ther early enough, go ahead for your MK fix on Monday, but be prepared to park hop. We were ther last July. We found the parks to be pretty manageable--except for MONDAY EVENING in the MK. It was an absolute madhouse. After fighting the stroller up main street and finding really long waits in Fantasyland, we left and went to Epcot!

I'll be back down this Saturday, but we're going to Typhoon Lagoon from late afternoon until closing on Monday.

Thanks so much; I think we will just go with our hearts and hit MK first--bright and early, and then leave when it gets too hot and crowded!

Thanks again.

I'm also planning to hit MK on a Monday. It's our last day and we can only stay 'till about 2 so I'm hoping to miss the worst of the crowds. If we hit fantasyland in the morning and then do the lesser attractions around noon, I figure we'll be fine.

Try to schedule a PS breakfast in the MK just before it opens. They'll let you in early if you're there for a breakfast--don't know if this applies to all restaurants or just character breakfasts. We happened upon this trick by accident. We managed to get PS for Cinderella's Royal Table (no mean trick!) at 8 am. They let us in early, and when breakfast was over the park had not yet opened. Great to be able to wlak down Main Street without crowds. A good time for photos, also, this is the time to grab fast passes. I don't have the PS reservations no. but just call Disney direct and they can guide you.

Other suggestions if you can't get Cinderella for breakfast--try the Crystal palace for Winnie the Pooh characters, also I think Liberty Tavern has some sort of character breakfast.

Good Luck!

We went the Monday before July 4th and the park was manageable in the morning(GO AT OPENING), but packed when we returned in the evening (it was a Spectromagic/late hours day). If you can't get a PS for one of the restaurants by calling the Disney line, you might check with your onsite hotel concierage desk. We were able to get two PS's for parks before opening.

We skipped AK's early entry day, and made a PS for Donald's Breakfastasuarus at 8 a.m. for another day. If you must go to AK, this is the way to do it. If you're kids are very small, you may want to skip it all together. Even though our bus didn't get us to AK until 8:15, they still honored our PS.

Visited MK on a Monday last July and it seemed twice as crowded as the other days of the week. I wouldn't do it again, unless I was there right at the opening.

Don't know if this will work, but here is our itinerary for Mon 9/8 at MK with a 3 and 6 yo:
Get to park before 8am, 8:05am PS at Crystal Palace
finish before 9am, explore and pictures
choose Fantasyland (or maybe leave that til EE) or Adventureland to start.
Later frontierland and/or Toontown
lunch at 1:45pm at Tony's
watch parade
return to WL for pool
MAYBE head to FW for campfire singalong for dinner at 7pm

Blue Fairy--I would definitely go to Fantasyland right after Breakfast. Maybe your 3 yo has more stamina than mine, but I had to head back to the hotel for nap/pool much earlier in the afternoon. On the days that I made nap time much later, he was such a crab. I like the idea of the campfire singalong!! Sounds like fun.

Well. maybe we should head out right around 12, then come back for the parade and maybe lunch.
Also, we may just save Fantasyland for the EE day later that week. Thought we'd do Frontierland and Adventureland early on the non-EE day.

IMHO, I'd suggest doing Fantasyland after the breakfast. Why? You are visiting during off-season. If you go to Fantasyland right at park opening, you can tour it pretty easily for the first hour, maybe even two. For EMH, you'll have people going just to do Fantasyland, which may make for a little more crowding. Also, the benefit to doing Fantasyland the first day is that you may want to return and do a few of your children's favorites during the EMH.

My children just turned 4 and 6. By far, the highest concentration of rides they enjoy are in Fantasyland.

HTH!
