Well, I'm not a happy camper today.

Had my routine OB appointment yesterday. They took my blood pressure and immediately sent me to the hospital. It just kept raising at the OB office, and I had slight protein in my urine, so off I went.

They did blood and urine tests, and then hooked me up to monitors for a few hours.

Even though I was relaxed and enjoying THE BEST ice cold apple juice I have EVER drank, my BP would not come down.

My tests all came back normal, but they are obviously concerned with the BP, so I am doing a 24-hour urine sample test on Sunday, and I head back to the hospital on Monday for more bloodwork and monitoring.

Fingers crossed they don't have to keep me! :(

I'm on modified bedrest for now. And it's a good thing I'm not working, because they told me I'd need to quit.

The scariest, the OB at the hospital told me that if I had been 36 weeks yesterday, they would have taken her! I'm sure she will come early now.

Anyways, hope you ladies are feeling well and have a GREAT Fourth of July weekend!!! :)

Oh my! What an adventure. Hope your BP goes down and you don;t have to stay at the hospital again! Keep us updated!

Meg hope you are feeling better! I read this while I was in NY so didn't have a chance to post. Hope your doing well and we're thinkin bout ya!:goodvibes

Hi there ladies! I feel like I've been MIA for a while but things have been way busy at work! I have been reading all of your updates and that's what is keeping me sane while here;)

Things are going fine here. We went to NY on Wedesday to see my parents for the 4th of July weekend. It was a great trip but also very tiring. My mom is a little ADD and her brain works a mile a minute so keeping up and keeping her on track is hard. We went out baby shopping on Thursday which was nice and I believe she is now regretting the whole no shower thing. She said she wanted me to take Amtrack from Chicago to NY in August for a shower. I told her she was out of her mind! Yep 15 hours on a train is definately going to be comfortable! What is she nutz? (Well, as we know, that has been established God bless her:laughing:) We had alot of fun with friends but after a while I was totally done with people touching me. It's ok for my family but I was a little taken back a couple of times. I just laughed it off but I did put Mike out there so he could run interference for me:-).

This weekend we are doing our Labor and Delivery classes on Saturday and Sunday. Then we are going to go to a couple of festivals in the afternoon. I have a dr appt. on Monday, 7/11, and I am hopeing they will give me more info about my delivery. Fingers crossed i will have a Vag birth but it's up in the air right now as far as i know. I have to start back on salads and chicken this week to mind my blood sugars but I'm looking foward to my healthy kick:thumbsup2 Mike wants to start riding his bike in the AM and I would live to start walking again so I'm hoping tomorrow. I'm going to see if I can get a live feed of 2 of our local radio stations on my Iphone so I can listen to them durning my walk.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and can't wait to read updates! I just texted Meg to see how she was doing so fingers crossed all is going better for her:goodvibes

E - sounds like things are going well! Funny about your mom - or not? - sorry about the shower thing. My aunt and uncle have nicknamed our baby jack-Jack from the Incredibles b/c they say both DH and I are so ADD/spastic that our baby will be like combustible! LOL.

Good luck at the birthing classes. DH and I go every Thursday this month for ours. I'm excited to get more info about the l&d at the hospital, see the rooms, find out about donating cord blood to the public bank, etc. I've done lots of research on births (seen several videos) so hopefully nothing they tell me or show me will freak me out to much - I'm very squeamish about anything medical, almost passed out when the doc just told me what they were gonna do when I had my nose surgery a few years ago so it is a concern. :)

And good luck at the doc appt and finding out about the birth. I hope you are able to get your vag birth. I so do not want a c-section! Of course, if it comes down to it and something happens where I have to, I'll be okay with whatever is necessary, but, like you, I much prefer a vag birth.

I called a couple pediatric practices today and am in the process of setting up prenatal "interviews" for this month. Also, my shower is in 2 1/2 weeks so I'm excited about that. Been having Braxton Hicks contractions. At first I didn't know what they were but then figured it out. My stomach gets as hard as a rock and it is quite uncomfortable. Of course, they don't last long and I don't have them often, so its all good.

Also, very excited to be 27 weeks today. Welcome to the third trimester! I know there are some differences in opinions on when it starts, but basically I have completed 27 weeks today and am now in my 28th week. I have completed 6 months and am into my 7th, so I'm going with third trimester today, as do several websites I follow. Can't believe I have completed 2/3 of my pregnancy and in 3 months we will have a real, live baby! I am so ready for that crazy ride! :)

Hope you all had a great holiday and have a fabulous week!

Hello Ladies! I sure hope everyone had a GREAT Fourth of July!

E... Glad you had a great time in NY! I'm with you! An Amtrack trip isn't something I'd be up for, either! No way! I hope you had luck at your appointment and got good news about your delivery plans. And good luck at your birthing class! DH had wanted to do one, but now that I am on bedrest, I doubt we will be able to.

Ariel... You are so lucky you get to donate your cord blood. My hospital doesn't accept/work with donations. I'm pretty sad about that. Good luck with the pediatrician "interviews"! That is something we need to do soon! And aren't Braxton Hicks fun? LOL. I get them quite frequently... they really aren't "painful", but they aren't comfortable, either! Oh well! Welcome to the THIRD trimester! All sorts of fun things from here on out!

Let's see... What's new with me? Other than being on pretty strict modified bedrest (as of now, I can only lay on my left side, sit, and get up to use the bathroom. I can't drive, go outside, or go ANYWHERE else! It SUCKS.) My DH had to start his FMLA early as I am not supposed to even be up long enough to cook myself food. I was REALLY loopy when I was at the hospital for my last NST (nonstress test), and the resident sort of explained what was happening, but I was too confused to comprehend. I guess basically, my immune system is no longer happy with the placenta, so it is making everything in my body go crazy, making my blood pressure rise. For whatever reason, laying down on my left side dramatically changes my BP from high levels to normal levels.

I've been feeling REALLY crappy if I don't rest. I get headaches and nausea and feel a little "stoned" if I am too active.

So far, baby is fine. She is just fine in there, being a big trouble maker!

I REALLY need to get on finding a pediatrician and having DH go on "interviews" now that he is home.

I have my routine weekly doctors appointment today, so I hope to find out lots more about what is happening to me. I'm over this pregnancy. I REALLY hope to be induced at 36-37 weeks. I'm very uncomfortable.

Anyways, it is almost TGIF! I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!!! :woohoo:

Actually I don;t know if I can donate my cord blood. As a matter of fact, my doc thinks my hospital does NOT do it, but she said maybe they have changed so she told me to ask when we go for our brthing classes, so I will ask tonight.

I am so very sorry that you are having to go through all this. How crappy! I really hope they decide they can take you early, as this sounds like it is very hard on you and your body. I know we are like incubators for our babies, so we are almost second class when it comes to baby's needs in the womb, but this seems so extreme. Keeping my fingers crossed for you! And please keep us updated!

Can I join you ladies? :flower3:

After 2 years of trying and a miscarriage in February, it seems as if this pregnancy is going to stick. (I say that tentatively not wanting to jinx us)

We got an 8 week ultrasound yesterday and the baby was measuring perfectly with a heartbeat of 168. We're breathing a little easier, but are both still nervous about things going wrong. Does the fear get better after the first trimester?

Aww honey sorry bout the bed rest! That stinks on so many levels! Looks like Ava has desided to Go Big on her arrival. Gotta admire her spirit already:lovestruc

How did your appointment go?

Anyone else have an itchy belly button! I swear I could itch it all day and last night I found (TMI ALERT) an actual Belly Button Booger!!:scared1: It was small enough but weird. I was actually afraid to remove it at first cause I am convinced that if I touch my BB in anyway it is going to pop and i'm going to pooh my pants! :crazy2: Yes, I fully understand that if this is what I have to worry about right now that's pretty damn good but I also fully accept that it's nutz a the same time!

A friend of mine from College is coming to visit with his family today. His brother is actually a brewer that works with me and who I brought to the brewery. He, the brother, is moving on to a new brewery after this week to continue brewing wonderful beers so MT and the whole family are coming for a visit to support him. Oh and also because Wil's daughter's b-day is this weekend and it's the Chicago contingent of the family's turn to have parties. MT and I were best friends in college and, to be honest, friends with benefits at times;). Both Mike and MT's wife know the background and are all good with it since that time of our lives is long past:laughing: I'm really looking foward to seeing them!

Tomorrow starts our L&D class weekend which should be interesting. I have to get my binder situated today. I had a panic attack last night when Mike and I realized that we will not really be able to start much on our house until August because our July is completely packed up right now. Jeeze oh Petes! I'm giong to print out calendars for July and August today so we can plan better this weekend. Of course I'm hoping to get more of a Delivery plan on Monday at my dr. appt. as well. Bring on Third Trimeseter!!!!!

Hope everyone is well!

How did your appointment go?

Yes, we've been calling her "spoiled brat", because it is already all about her! ;)

My appointment went well... My BP was back down to a semi-normal for now (130/90), but my doc told me to keep up the bedrest, because it is working. I'm also now anemic. What else!!!

Ava is a busy body... her little heart rate is still 170!

WOW! Loving those numbers! Keep strong lady!

E... LMAO! That is funny about the belly button! They DO say, no matter how much we think they will, that they WILL NOT pop like one of those turkey timers!

I feel the same way with my stomach skin. Like if I breathe, my stomach will split open! LOL

Good luck at your classes and enjoy your friend! Sounds like you have lots to look forward to this weekend!!! My DH homebrews... I'm making him wait until Little Miss gets here, and I have requested something fruity or lemony. ;)

Uggg -- you guys are making me remember how I felt around 8-9 months pregnant!!!

Luckily I have a long way to go before getting to that point!!! But my pregnancy has already been a roller coaster so far. I hope things go back to "normal" for awhile so I can at least enjoy spending the summer with my son.

I had my 2nd sonogram yesterday. It was horrible because they had me start drinking water at home around noon. My appointment at the hospital was 2:30pm but I arrived 15 minutes early as they said to. They didn't take me into the room until almost 3:20pm and I was very upset by that point! Not to mention the fact that I HAD TO USE THE BATHROOM!!!! Sheesh!

After I had waited over 50 minutes and they called in 3 people who arrived after me (and I heard them mention their appointments weren't until 2:45 or 3pm and they were getting in before me!) I decided to call my obgyn. I normally am not a complainer. I take things as they come & pretty much just accept them & move on. Things are a little different now because I am pregnant and have a toddler! I don't have five hours to just sit and wait for an appointment especially whenever they specifically told me to arrive early! Anyway, after complaining & having no results, I called my ob who does sonograms at the office on Fridays. I thought I might be able to get an appointment at the office instead. Well, it turned out that they didn't have any open appointments today so I had to just sit & wait -- and wait and wait and wait and wait (you get the point! lol)

I will say that I took my 3 year old with me so he could see his baby brother or sister and he was extremely well behaved the entire time! I think he actually had more patience than I did! :lmao:

They did both types of sonograms and I actually had the same tech that I had during my ER visit two weeks ago. So she was fairly friendly & pointed out more things to me than the techs normally do. I was able to see the brain beginning to form which was super neat! In past pregnancies, I was never shown the brain! She also recorded the heartbeat which was 170 and let me watch the heartbeat for awhile. I was given four pictures which is more than I normally get! One was the face which I can't really see, one was taken from above showing the top of the head, body & legs, the third was a side view, and the fourth was the arms, body and legs. The pictures I got 2 weeks ago were much clearer than these. I'll post them all as soon as I get them uploaded.

Things are moving along much better now even though the fluid is still in between the gestational sac and uterus wall. Has anyone else ever experienced this? The sonogram tech said its fairly common but she wouldn't tell me what the ob does if the fluid/blood stays there & doesn't decrease. Two weeks ago, my ob told me he's sending me for sonograms every 2 weeks until the issue resolves. He said the gestational sac should be attached to the uterus wall. There was a large amount of blood in between a few weeks ago and thats when I had the blood clot & went to the ER. Now they said there isn't blood but just clear fluid (I'm not sure how they can tell the difference). My ob said that the sac and uterus would attach between 12-14 weeks. Does anyone know anything about this? I have an appointment on Monday and plan to ask questions at that point, when they're done yelling at me for not getting my bloodwork done and when I'm done complaining that my prenatal vitamins cost $90 a month!!! Last pregnancy, my vitamins were around $20-28 a month. We pay a ton for our insurance so I don't understand why they're $90!

I will update here on Monday after my appointment -- and I also plan to catch up on this thread over the weekend!!!

I hope all of you girls are feeling better! Enjoy the weekend!

Just lurking but wanted to comment.

You can get prenatals OTC...for about $12. I have never known anyone who has a rx for them?? 90 is INSANE! Go to Walgreens, Target, whereever and get a bottle for $12!!! Mine lasted me my whole pregnancy!

Congrats and welcome!! We didn't try for 2 years, it was quick for us, but we did have a miscarriage in Sept/Oct and then got PG again in Januray. While I still worry sometimes, I will say that after about 12 weeks I did feel much better. Also, just knowing that so manypeople have had 1 m/c and gone on to have healthy, wonderful children helped. The fact that you have seen the hb is awesome! That means the risk is already reduced. I'll keep my fingers crossed (KMFX) for you!

I really don't itch much at all anymore. I do use Bio Oil on my skin every night and I also have always mosturized after my shower for years and years, plus the dermatologist said I have good elasticity in my skin. However, I am kind of obsessed about whether or not my belly button will come out. I have a very deep belly button, so much so that its hard to get in there and clean it sometimes (plus it gets irritated). I really want it to pop out at least a little so I can see what it looks like...lol. I think it has come out some, but not too much. I had it pierced for years and years and just took the ring out a few months ago. It was too uncomfortable to keep in.

We had our first class Thursday night. We have 4 total. The first one was just a bunch of info that we mostly knew already from our own research. We did do a few breathing and relaxation exercises and we found out the tour is next week. I'm excited for that. I wish we could get everything set up in our nursery and get all the stuff taken care of before I go back to work on August 1st, but financially speaking =, we just can't. My husband is now working part time Fri - Sun evenings until midnight and still interning for th emorning show. He will begin working evenings 7 days a week in August. Then in October, another radio station is going to employ him for earlier evenings, so he is hoping to be able to work both jobs. At that point, we should be doing much better. Plus he has gotten one show signed up at his current radio station and he gets 10% of that fee ($16,000 for the year) and he is trying to get advertising set up for the other show and he'll get 50% of that. Lots of irons in the fire over here.

My SIL and MIL bought our crib, changing table and pack-n-play so we are going to try and talk them into giving it to us early so we can set it up to show off at the shower in the 23rd. And then I asked my mom to talk to whoever bought the bedding to give us that early to set up as well. That way, people see it at the shower AND we already have that done, which will make me feel so much better!

Anyway, sorry to ramble on, just wanted to say I completely understand how you feel! LOL!

Sorry you are going through all this stuff. Hope it gets better soon. I do the OTC prenatals as well. My doc said they are fine. I use Nature Made. I got them at Kroger when they had a BOGO sale so I have enough to almost get me through pregnancy. I bought like 4 big bottles back in the beginning. Before that I think I used Walgreen's brand.
