Moms to be Part 4

Had my prenatal yesterday and it went so well. Doc praised me for the weight! I had only gained 3 lbs in a month, and she had gotten on to me last time, So I was happy/ She also said I had a pretty belly and was looking for stretch marks, but I don't have any. I just figured it was too early. She said my skin looks good, so I actually may not have any (or many). I got them during puberty, so I thought for sure I would in pregnancy, but she said they are different, so we'll see. She did say my belly will probably double in size from what it is now, which I figured.

Also, got praise at my dentist appt too. I've really been flossing and rinsing, along with brushing, so I was glad! The only bad thing is one of my teeth has been bothering me and its the one with the crown on it (I didn't realize that). I got a referral to another dentist to check the nerves b/c if the nerves go "bad" it can cause an infection, which is NOT good when pregnant.

About to head to water aerobics. We didn't go bowling yesterday, so we'll try today. Our weather has cooled a little, from upper 90's to upper 80's due to clouds and storms. It was raining and was cloudy but the sun just came out. Hope the mugginess doesn't make up for the temperature....ugh!

Have a great day!

Glad your appointment went well!!

Hi, moms and hi, Rachael A! Can I join? As you can see by my ticker and signature, I am about 15 weeks (EDD: 12/15) and also have two children from a previous marriage. This is dh's first. Everyone is crazy excited-dd almost cried when we told her. The DCs have been asking about a baby for awhile now. They will be awesome older siblings, as long as they don't tear the baby's arms off fighting over it.
Baby was a bit unexpected! We talked about trying in fall, but apparently I ovulated early one month, and well, I am pregnant a little sooner. Based on my last period I was supposed to be due 12/21, but the ultrasound showed a due date of a week earlier. THAT does explain a few things...;)
I also just got a new job. I graduated from college in December and had been doing maternity leaves at a nearby high school (Sidenote: Everyone kept telling me not to drink the water there, as if pregnancy was contagious. How little they knew!:)). Anyway, they don't know about the baby yet. I wasn't showing and didn't feel it necessary to tell during the interview. I know they can't NOT hire you based on that, but there are many reasons not to hire someone, kwim? I will tell the principal in person, next time I see him.
I guess that's enough rambling for now!

welcome to the newcomers!!

well I totall splurged on myself today. I have been planning on buying a Coach diaper bag and today is the online outlet sale....so, went on there and then realized the only "extra" with the diaper bag is the pad so I checked dimensions and I ordered a large satchel, wallet and a cosmetic case to match....I don't usually spend money on myself so I am feeling good, but anxious about it....I am planning on getting a changing pad, wet bag etc off etsy, so whoo hooo!!!

I passed my one hour, so my next appt is 7/1, then I think I start going every 2 weeks...not sure. I hit 28 weeks on Friday, so now it is really starting to sink in. I only told my work a few weeks ago, and not everyone knows yet, its been interesting for sure....I guess most of my clothes pretty well keep things hidden!!!!!

I can't believe next Friday is JULY!!! I have 70 some days to go until the eviction!!

Ariel: Congrats on the weight gain! I bet your doc is happy.

Lily: Good job with passing the 1 hr glucose. That must take a load off your shoulders. It was bad enough doing the 1 hr test, I can't imagine having to do a 3 hr test.

Okey dokey, dropping by one last time. I will keep up with and lurk here ( gotta see how things go for everyone else!) but I suppose it is now my time to leave this thread. I have a link to the blog of the photographer who took Charlie's newborn photo's yesterday. Charlie was a very good baby and slept almost the entire time! Though this is most likely because Ms. Charlie still has her days/nights flipped. We are working on this but her doc said it may take a few weeks for her to get day/night straight.

One funny story I forgot to share about the delivery. We had a view of the MK fireworks from our hospital room! So after starting the induction at 6pm I stayed in bed for a while. Contractions were coming about 3 minutes about but not bothering me at all at 10pm so I decided to get up out of bed and walk to the window to get a good view of Wishes. Wouldn't you know.... as The fireworks start my water broke. :scared1: Nothing dramatic, I finished watching the fireworks.

DH says we should try submitting that to the "disney magical memory" website.:lmao: Can you imagine the worlds most disgusting Disney commercial. (Cue enchanting music) Voice over says "What will your next magical memory be?" as you see a fat pregnant beast in a buttless hospital gown waddling around a room. Then... well you get the idea. We laughed about this quite a bit. DH was saying that only *I* would have my water break during Disney fireworks. I think the commercial would completely clear out the parks as the entire country was utterly disgusted by the ad... then we could go and have no lines!

We had a nice view of the fireworks every night in the hospital! Not a great view, but enough to see most of the show.

SD - sore nipples and marathon long nursing sessions are exausting. My baby is 2 1/2 months now and I went through the same thing. Talk to your pediatrician and a lactation consultant. Those hour long sessions will exaust baby and make her not want to wake up in time for the next nursing. To be succesful you have to be very scheduled about it. You should't be nursing for more than 10-15 min at a time and feeding every 2hrs. If you go longer than that, you will never keep up, since neither of you will want to nurse at the next scheduled time and add to it the frustration of trying to wake a sound asleep baby and will seem like trying to nurse is all you do 24 hours. Also, it will make your nipples sore and then you don't want to nurse.

Not trying to say I'm, an expert, b/c believe me, I am not, but I have done a lot of research and most of it indicates that on demand feeding is better than scheduled feedings and taking the baby off the breast before they are finished, at least in the beginning.

I wish I had known about the online outlet sale. I have been wanting a new Coach handbag. Not a diaper bag b/c I personally don't see the point in it, but thats just my own personal opinion. I thought I had signed up to get the emails but maybe I only signed up for the regular Coach emails. Do you have a website I could go to the get signed up? I would really appreciate it. And whoo hoo on spendinf money on yourself! We just have to sometimes!

Whoo hoo to passing the 1 hour! Mine is July 21st. I couldn't keep it hidden if I wanted to! LOL. I have been showing for awhile! Enjoy these last 70 days!

Thank you!! Charlie is so beautiful and the photos are so precious! What a precious baby! Oh and hilarious Disney commercial idea! :)

Happy Sunday ladies! It is DH and my one year anniversary today! We went to breakfast this morning and were going to go to the movies but decided against it. We just relaxed a little at home and did some shopping. Then napped and had burgers for an early dinner b/c DH works on Saturday and Sunday nights. Oh and we had cake! We defrosted the top layer of our wedding cake and it was delicious! :) He got me a new and upgraded iPhone b/c I dropped mine on Thursday - one of the worst hormonal days of my pregnancy. I won't get into details but I cried a lot that day!

Since I have had my doc appt, I have been bad...eating bad stuff and not working out enough. I have also been a little bit more uncomfortable and winded...probably all tied in together. I need to get back on the program.

A friend of mine bought some things off my Amazon registry and had then sent to us, breathable bumpers, infant-to-toddler rocker, and the book Go the F**k to Sleep...lol. Book is hilarious and the rocker is awesome. The bumpers are great, as well.

Not much else to report. Just busy and tired. Have a good one, ladies!

SD... First and foremost... Charlie is absolutely beautiful and just adorably cute! I love the full head of hair!!! Enjoy her, she is PRECIOUS!!!

I love that you watched Disney fireworks at the hospital! :rotfl:

We'll see you on the "New Mom's" thread real soon! :thumbsup2

Ariel... Congrats on your checkup! It's always great to get praise from the doctor!!! :thumbsup2 Let us know how the water aerobics went... I was thinking of joining our community pool to take a load off my belly! :rotfl:

Paintnolish... Congrats and Welcome! Can't wait to get to know you!!!

Lilygator... I have a Coach diaper bag :lovestruc as well! It was a gift from my mom! Mine has the pad, but it also has the bottle "holders" on the inside... Not important, but there nonetheless! :woohoo: I'm a Coach junkie, so needless to say, I was EXCITED!!! I have this one...

coach_diaperbag.jpg

... It's from the outlet, but it matches my stroller! :goodvibes What does yours look like???

And WOO HOO on your glucose test!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

So, let's see... What's new with ME?

Did I say I passed my one-hour glucose as well? I was WORRIED about it! :scared: Not necessary! :snooty: ;)

I'm trying my hardest to finish Ava's nursery... I need a lamp that I like, some more artwork for her walls, and a bookshelf for one wall. And some odds and ends like baskets and a hamper. I am TOO picky.

Nothing else to report, other than I can't get comfortable in bed, I can't breathe, and I am constantly thirsty!!! Other than that, no news is good news!

Hope you ladies are doing well and feeling well!

Yah on the 1 hour!! I love Coach though I only have 1 bag! I have never spent that much on a purse in my life...but I got mine at the outlet a couple of years ago and I still carry it. Its time for a new one, so I am thinking push present! I just don't see spending that much on a diaper bag that will probably get all messed up with kids stuff all on it. I think I would feel like I had to be too careful so I registered for a Winnie the Pooh bag for me and an Eddie Bauer backpack diaper bag for DH.

Sorry you are feeling so uncomfortable!

Yeh the book is great! :)

I say YES to the push present!!! :rotfl: And I would NEVER have bought the bag for myself, but since it was a gift... Who am I to complain! ;) The only bad thing about it is that DH will NEVER carry it LOL! I don't know what I'll send him out with when just HE takes her!

Yeh, let's hope DH gets the info on the push present! :)

I certainly wouldn't say no to a diaper bag as a gift, either!

I love the bag! I went to the Coach outlet a couple weeks ago with my mom in search of a diaper bag and all they had were some really ugly ones! I just wanted a classic pattern in a normal color, but they didn't have anything so I'm still on the hunt! I don't feel like paying full price at the regular Coach store though!

Hi, ladies! I'm so excited! Someone has bought our bedding for us! I had actually registered for a couple different sports related ones but none of them excited me but I went to Buy Buy Baby last week (just opened where I live) and I found some Mickey themed sports bedding and even though it was more expensive, I really wanted it. Well my SIL found it on Amazon for $40 less than BBB, and someone (probably her and my DB) bought it! Mom won;t tell me who it is! But thats okay.

Here's the link:
http://www.amazon.com/Vintage-Mickey-Piece-Bedding-Kidsline/dp/B0016JOT3S/ref=br_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I23YOLR0WBRBTS&colid=UCMQYWYSVPIP

And then the infant-to-toddler rocker my friend got us:
http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Newborn-To-Toddler-Portable-Rocker-Lizards/dp/B002OOWAB2/ref=br_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=IMWLPSQDKX60G&colid=UCMQYWYSVPIP

Not much else going on. Went to water aerobics yesterday. I really enjoy it! And we had some more wedding cake! Yum! Today I'll do low-impact aerobics for 20 minutes and prenatal pilates for 20 minutes, then a mani-pedi, then the grocery store. Oh and its my parents 43rd anniversary today! WOW!

Have a great Tuesday!
