Moms to be Part 4

Is anyone planning on getting a gift from the new baby for your older kids?

A friend of mine bought a baby doll for her daughter so she could be a "mommy" too, but I don't think my DS3 will like that so much. He's more into cars, trucks, trains, dinos, robots, etc. Any ideas what to get a little boy?

I do plan on getting my DS something. I know I"m getting the "big bro" and
"little whatever" shirts. I was also going to get DS a book about being a big brother. I'll probably also get him some sort of toy that he's interested in when the time comes.

I already have a "I'm the big sister" Tee for DD and still need to purchase a "I'm the baby sister" tee or onesie for the baby. (I didn't know the baby's gender obviously yet when I ordered DD's tee) I also have bought special T-shirts for our "surprise" Disney trip in September for DD that say "Samantha Is Going to be a Big Sister" on the back of ours and hers says "I'm Going to Be A Big Sister" on hers. I also got her a button that says "I'm Going to Be a Big Sister" for our trip. I will have to figure out something extra special for the baby to give DD as a gift when she is born though. I feel like our case is a little different in that Samantha will be 7 when the baby gets here so she will have been an only child for 7 years. And I may be overcompensating a bit with the last Disney trip that is all about her, but it's important to me and I know that her life is going to be very different (not bad) and is going to take some adjusting to so I want to make it as easy for her as possible and really focus on her before hand.

We did the same thing. A last trip with just our older daughter (7 yo then) in February. And the baby gave her a James Avery charm bracelet with a "Big Sister" charm. I'd been meaning to buy her a real charm bracelet since we got her one of those cheapy ones at WDW with the clip on charms. The charms on that one kept falling off and getting lost. So this was a great opportunity for that... it wasn't cheap though. About 70 bucks.

My DS will be 7.5 when baby arrives as well. I'm so glad we were able to do such a big WDW trip right before we found out I was pregnant since our next trip will be very different for DS. And it looks like another trip on DCL will be a few years off instead of 2 like we planned. I don't want to take a baby/toddler on the ship!

I got ours at Kohls. They are made by Carters, but from their website it looks like they changed the line out from what I already purchased.

This is what I have::

Piecey those are great! I always loved Carters when DS was little.
Thanks, as soon as I saw the Big Brother shirt I knew I wanted them. I had to wait awhile to figure out if I needed Little Brother or Little Sister but I think they're super cute.

I got my big sister shirts here:

and plan to get the baby one from there also.

Those are so cute! I love that a few of them you could use to tell people.

I had a strange moment earlier tonight. I was sitting on DS1's floor with him in my lap (diaper-less, he has butt issues at the moment), talking to DH. When I got up there was a puddle underneath of us. DH and I were both like :scared1: thinking my water had broken when we realized that I was completely dry and DS had no diaper on. :rotfl:

Phew. It was a quick moment of panic, but panic all the same...

Sorry about the panic....but this is too funny :) I still remember when my water broke with DD. I was sittting at my computer (On a Friday) emailing my boss (I had been on bedrest for a week) to let her know that I had just got back from the doctor and I was still on bedrest and was scheduled to go back Monday when my water broke. I told my DH that I had either just peed all over myself or my water broke :rotfl: In my childbirth class they had really stressed that only about 16% of women actually had their water break regardless of what the movies showed so I was convinced that mine wouldn't.

My water broke with DS at 35w6d. I had gotten up to go to the bathroom and (warning, TMI) when I wiped, there was pinkish discharge/mucus on the tissue. I decided to go back to bed for another hour, which was when DH's alarm was going to go off. When his alarm went off, I got up and my water broke. It just kept coming. I told DH and he asked if I was sure it wasn't just pee.

For DD's 3rd birthday, someone bought her a Big Sister outfit so we are all set in that regard. Still have no idea what to get her for her gift from little sister. DH wants to get her a bicycle. I keep thinking it's kind of big for me to have birthed...:rotfl:

Has anyone been having sharp cervical pain? Today has been the worst but it's been happening the last few weeks. It's when she is moving and it's like she has kicked me in the crotch. It's a terrrible pain and makes me stop dead in my tracks. Today it happened so often I teared up. I'm guessing it's her just kicking me in the wrong spot, but I wonder if it is related to any dilation. I want to make it to my RCS date of next Thursday, but I also don't want to be taken off guard. I start school on Tuesday!

Hi everyone! Just got back from vacation and caught up on the posts from the last few weeks. So many of you are so close! I'm jealous. Hope everything goes well and easy for those of you that have issues popping up.

We had a great trip, and I thankfully felt really good for almost all of it. One short flight was really unpleasant because of the small plane (sick the whole time), but luckily it only lasted 1/2 hour. And there were 4 other pregnant women at the resort, plus tons of people with small kids, so I didn't feel at all self conscious about my big belly :) I got to snorkel a few times, and saw a HUGE sea turtle about 4 feet from me, which was so cool (although DH made me wear a huge dayglo green snorkel vest which looked really hilarious with my belly sticking out under it). Got to watch DH scuba while I was snorkeling, which was fun - except I was totally jealous that I couldn't be down there with him.

So now, back to real life and a potentially HUGE problem at work that I just found out about. Ugh - I am already stressed. My DH and I work in our (my dad's) family business, and without boring everyone with too many details, it is going horribly at the moment, with no end to the drama in sight. We feel very trapped, and this thing that came up is going to make it all worse. I am dreading tomorrow morning, and feeling it in my stomach! Plus, we are starting homeschooling for the first time ever this week. Eek!

On a happier note, the baby has gotten so much more active. More than my others ever were. Drives me crazy sometimes, but I love it, too. Just don't love it so much at 3am :rotfl:

When my second was born, "he" bought our oldest, who was 2, a BIG (but cheap) toy from Target - a Hot Wheels type thing, which was what the oldest was just getting really into. Worked well - we had it at the hospital when he met his baby brother. I think the bigness of it excited him more than anything.

FWIW, I would switch to a Dr. that saw my time as being as valuable as theirs, since you will have to deal with them so much over the next months.

Vettechick, I've never had that cervical pain - that doesn't sound pleasant. Glad you are so close to the end :)

TSRE: Hope things get better at work. You don't need to deal with that stress right now! Glad you had a nice trip though.

Vettechick: I get that pain alot as well. It does hurt terribly. Dr. said it is normal...I have started effacing but not dialating yet so I don't know what causes it or makes it normal. I would have asked but he got called out on an emergency to do a delivery and I figured as long as it was normal it wan't that important!

Saturday we went to a place here in St. Louis called Grant's Farm. It is like a mini zoo / reserve type of thing, and also houses some of the Anheuiser Busch clydesdales. It was a little cooler that day and most of that area is shaded so we decided to try it (it's free so no loss if we just left). I did pretty well; we walked around for about 1.5 - 2 hours. Funny though: I was in line waiting in the restroom and there was another woman who was also pregnant in line behind me. She asked me if she could go ahead of me because she was "pregnant and had to pee". Um....I am 8+ months pregnant so it's not like you can't tell... LOL

Had a second baby shower yesterday. It was nice. We got alot of essential type stuff which is always useful. Last night and this morning my ankles are swelling. Yuck.

Back to the Dr on Thursday. I have a choice whether or not I want him to do another exam. IDK what I'm going to do...I hate them, they are soooo painful for me, but I do want to know how everything is progressing. DH thinks I should have it done and I probably will, I just hate the thought of volunteering for it!

Have a great day everyone!

Oh no, not watering breaking stories! I don't know why, but I'm really nervous that my water will break here at work when it is time for the baby to come in 6 months. I know it isn't that common, but TV/movies make it seem like that is the only way babies come!

My DH and I decided to stay with the same doctors. I work an hour from home, so the hospital is actually the mid-point between home and work. They also have a branch office that is closer to home, so I'm just going to schedule my appointments at the closer office from now on. I have to call today to schedule my 16 week appointment for the end of the month.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. My DH and I did more things this weekend that we have in about 6 weeks, so now I'm pooped here at work. I was planning on returning to my 4 ten hour day schedule this week, but I think I may stick with 4 eight hour days this week. And then switch back to the traditional 5 day work-week. I just can't be productive from 6:30 am until 5 pm.

Anything he would just go nuts over?

He really wants that new Buzz Lightyear toy at Target, but he already has a smaller one, and I just can't see spending $130 on a toy he will probably break. My mom mentioned that she saw Cars characters shaped like monster trucks at TRU - maybe that would work

We did already get him a "big brother" shirt and book when we first told him.

It's like carrying around and sleeping with a watermelon!

Funny you say that - I just read the same thing in a pamphlet from the doc's office! :rotfl2:

Hello Everyone!!! How is everyone? I haven't been on here in soo long. Logan is doing great he's 5 monthes already!!! :scared1: We're taking him to disney in sept for MNSSHP.

Ooh, fun time for a trip - do you have a costume for him yet?

dh and I went to a movie afterwards...ugh, I was sooo uncomfortable. I had a rib injury years ago (basically my ribs on the right side aren't sprung out correctly anymore) and it is just killing me now, there is sooo much pressure against it. it hurts horribly in my back as well. baby can come whenever he is ready...we are as ready for him as we are going to be!

sorry you're so uncomfortable!

We got DS's from Amazon:

I remember the same thing from my CB class, but my water also broke - at 40w3days, at home in bed. Sooo glad it didn't happen at work.

DH wants to get her a bicycle.

Has anyone been having sharp cervical pain?

We got DS a bike with training wheels for his 3rd birthday - he loves it! :thumbsup2

I've been having that pain too, never had it with DS and it's sooo uncomfortable - mine has also just about brought me to tears sometimes.

Glad you had a good vacation, but sorry to hear about the work drama. I hope everything works out soon.

I don't blame you - it's hard to be productive that long, especially when you're pregnant!

Side note: DS3 & DH are playing hide and seek for the 1st time, and it was DS's turn to hide. DH counted to 10, then said, "ready or not here I come!" And DS yelled, "I'm in mommy's closet, behind the door!" :rolleyes1 He's not very good at this yet! But it was pretty funny! :rotfl:

Okay ladies I have something freaky (at least to me) going on and wanted to see if anyone else had it happen to them. Early in this pregnancy I had the typical morning sickness/nausea. It was absolutely horrible, but I didn't actually puke a whole lot and when I did it had kind of "built up"....if that makes any sense at all? Well it finally stopped somewhere between 14 and 16 weeks. Well I'm now 25 weeks and twice over the last 4 days I have just had it hit me and threw up. I mean this morning I was walking across the yard from my parents house and it just hit me....I ended up throwing up in my front yard because I knew there was no way I would make it in the house and to the bathroom in time. But this seems so different from morning sickness/pregnancy nausea/puking. I told DH when it happened Saturday that it was more like just being sick vs. being pregnant sick. I had just kind of written off Saturday as some weird fluke....but then it happened again today and I don't know what to think. Both times I had drank some tea and had not eaten, but that was it. Is puking later in the 2nd trimester like this anything of concern you think? I haven't googled it because we all know that is just asking to probably be freaked out for real :) But I probably will end up googling it just to see what it says. I don't want to call the doctor yet because hello - how crazy would THAT sound?? "Yes, I'm pregnant and was concerned because I'm puking" :rotfl: Since my last appointment I have been having to check my blood pressure twice a day and it's borderline high, but I don't go back to the doctor until the 12th. So any thoughts? Anyone else have this happen?

I know that when I get low blood sugar from not eating I get nauseous, but I never throw up. The only time I threw up during this pregnancy was when I got a rather nasty infection. I would call your Dr and just let him know what is going on. We pay them for their advice so we might as well take full advantage of what we are spending. Also if you live in an area where its been abnormally hot it might be dehydration and heat exhaustion. I've had to stay inside most of the time now that it's hitting a daily high in to 100's. Even then I'm usually stripped down as far as I can while sitting in my own house.

It has been really hot....but both times it was fairly early in the morning still and I had not eaten. I also had been up my usual 3-4 trips to the bathroom in the night so I don't think I am dehydrated. I think I will call.....better safe than sorry. I did end up googling it and it can be a symptom of preeclampsia.

WDW...I hope it's not Pre-E! I would definitely call the Dr just to be safe.

Had my 2nd prenatal appointment today (13w5d). Heard the heartbeat with the doppler today. Yay!! Didn't take her long to find it at all, even though she did comment again how loud my heart was again. She said my blood sugar levels look good so far. And I lost 2 pounds. :) Hopefully things will continue to go well. I went ahead and told everyone at work today and they were all so excited. Several of the women I work with knew we had been struggling to have baby #2 for quite some time so it was fun to tell them. I'm glad it's officially out because my belly is making me look more and more chunky!
