UGH! I want to cry (actually I have been). Baby boy flipped and is now breech! I had an u/s on Wed and he was head down. Had a Dr appt today, he did an internal and was sure he was breech so I did an u/s right then and sure enough, the Dr was right. I cannot believe it. Good new is my fluid level is good and increased....bad news is my fluid level is good and gave baby boy enough room to flip I have another appt and u/s on Monday and I will be 37w 1d. The Dr was really good about giving my potential options.....I hate the idea of a c-section but it's not the worst thing in the world......

I had the exact opposite outcome today. He was frank breech last Saturday and today he was head down.

c-sections aren't that bad. I was starving by the time they did mine (I hadn't eaten in waay over 24 hours) and they gave me Jell-O a few hours post-op. Best Jello EVER. I was messed up after mine (emotionally) because I'd honestly never sat and considered the fact that I might have one. I hope that you don't need one but if you do, they're not bad. Knowing and being prepared will help a ton with "recovery"...




My fluid went up 6cm in 8 days. My OB is on vacation. Her NP will look at the report and call me but as stupid as it may be I really just want to talk to my OB about it.
My uncle died (suddenly) today in SC and I want to go, but it's so unrealistic. I'm a bit of a hormonal mess today. Doesn't help that DH had to go to Pittsburgh for a Dr.'s appointment so he wasn't with me at the ultrasound (1st time ever) and isn't here now.

KPM: sorry he turned. my little guy has been head down and dropped for almost 6 weeks now. At the time the Dr said he would be staying there so I thought they just stayed once they were in piosition. Hope he will turn back for you!

We decided to go ahead and install the carseat this weekend. It turned out to be pretty easy thanks to the LATCH system in the car. We also cleaned out the trunk and put in the stroller (with all the pads and strap covers; what a beast! I have a big trunk and this thing takes up a lot of room. We have virtually zero storage in the house though, so its better for it to "live" in the car) as well as the bag with its accessories and a small diaper bag filled with emergency essentials in case we ever forget the regular one. My packed hospital bag is in the trunk too, and the window shades are up on the car windows. I was amazed how much room the car seat takes up. I have a 2007 Hyundai Sonata which is really quite large inside especially for a midsize car (has more legroom, front and rear, than the SUV I had before it did and was rated best in its class that year for interior space) and the carseat takes up quite a chunk of space in the back!

I am getting more and more uncomfortable by the day. Ugh. The heat and humidity here are not helping AT ALL! I know it will all be worth it once I hold that little baby in my arms, though!

I know what you mean about the space! I have a 2009 Jeep Compass (probably smaller than a Sonata) but I put in the carseat and went REALLY? Our single stroller (a Jeep ) takes up almost the entire trunk. I can stack stuff on top of it but it's pretty much the whole trunk area.
Luckily, the double is smaller. How much sense does that make? It's a Maclaren, though, so they fold tiny. I'm almost excited to regain some space in my trunk... only to lose my entire back seat to 2 carseats.

Well, my OB's nurse called. They're sending me either to Morgantown (to West Virginia University's hospital) or Charleston for further testing. I told them I'd rather go to Charleston as it's 1.5 hours closer for us... just waiting on them to call back and let me know the rest of the details.

The nurse said "They might try to drain the fluid, I'm not sure" so I stupidly google'd that-- yeah, needle through the abdomen. Please not that. That freaks me out!
Anyone ever had anything like that done?

A level 2 ultrasound shows more detail, than a typical ultrasound.

Life seems to be going good over here. Tomorrow marks 32 weeks for me. Only 7 weeks and 2 days till Daniel will be here and in my arms. I think I'm ready to go. I finally went and toured the hospital this past Sunday. I love the L&D rooms, but will probably not get to see them as I'm heading in for a repeat c-section. With the new ACOG rules I am going to ask my Dr about the possibility of a VBAC, but I'm not holding my breath. This past week I've also frozen several entrees so I will have some healthy homemade meals for when we come home after baby is born. The nursery is done and if I could ever figure out for to post pictures I would post some. We went very simple knowing that in 2 years time the little guy will probably want to decorate it different anyway. I go in next week for another US to measure the size of this little guy. He's measuring big. I see the Dr in 2 more weeks. I guess since I'm not having any problems they only need to see me every 3 weeks, and not every 2 weeks. They actually said I would only have about 4 more appointments before my repeat c-section date of Sept 16th. It's so very different from early in the pregnancy when they were being super cautious. All in all life is good and I'm so ready to have this baby.

A Level II is much more in depth than a regular u/s. It is also read by a perinatologist. There won't be any difference for you as it is performed the same way a regular one is but they can see a lot more detail.....

I guess I will be waiting awhile to meet with him...

I have no idea what time my appointment is with him. Or if I even technically have one. Ugh. I hate this because this is soooo not me. I am organized to a T, post-its and to-do lists are all over my house. I also hate that I wasn't able to talk to my OB first but hey, I guess even OBs deserve a vacation right?

I am also not wild about seeing this guy. I wish now i'd of asked who they were sending me to see so I could pick the location I went to off of the Dr. choices they gave me.
He has good patient reviews but 3 lawsuits- one for 500k, one for 1.6m, one for 1.7m. Freaks me the heck out!

Good luck with the u/s tomorrow Piecy! Also, I know it's really difficult, but I would take the lawsuits with a grain of salt unless you know explicit details. Unfortunately, some people will sue for ANYTHING these days, and for a lot of money. Not saying it is something you should just ignore, just that it isn't something to get too worked up over unless there's a really good reason, KWIM?

I had a level II b/c I'm 35. 35 and older is high risk apparently. It is just an ultrasound w/ more detail. Good luck tomorrow!

I totally understand your frustration....and being freaked out by the lawsuits. However, try not to worry too much. I honestly doubt there is an OB, especially a high risk one like this doctor is (okay perinatologist), who hasn't been sued.

Thanks. Generally law suits don't freak me out, I think it's more that I have no idea whatsoever that is going on so EVERYTHING is freaking me out a bit. My actual OB that I LOVE has a lawsuit, but it's small-- 44k, so it doesn't bother me at all. I think it's more the $$ amounts on this other guy that flipped me out.

And of course, to further confuse me, a different Dr.'s office just called to confirm my appointment with him tomorrow. So apparently the Dr. on the paperwork my OB's office gave me is not who I am actually seeing. Which makes sense since he is speaking at a WVU conference about pre-term labor and PROM.

I'm just not the kind of person that doesn't like to know how things are going to go. So walking into Women and Children's Hospital tomorrow clueless is going to have me on edge until it's all over with.

Luckily, my insurance company's website just went down so when I went to confirm that this new guy is network I can't see him OR his Healthgrades profile to know if he's been sued.

*eta* I google'd him (haha I am more than slightly neurotic) and he seems like a good guy. I didn't even know that the Perinatal Hospice program existed but I think it's awesome.

My peri was always right there. The u/s tech would do the u/s and he would be in another room watching it real time. He then came in and talked with us in detail. I do know that sometimes they can read them remotely so if he's at a conference perhaps that is an option. The greatest thing for me about the Level II is that you got results right away.....no waiting for the Dr to call you. Thank God in our case everything always checked out ok......hope all goes well for you tomorrow

I'm guilty of googling my doctors as well. I have also done a search for my doctors on our system at work. (I'm an attorney)

Of course, I google everything.

Onm another front, my mother had surgery on Thursday and I have been her nurse. I have been here 24/7 since Thursday and I am really missing my kids and husband a lot. Of course today is our 12th Anniversary and I am trapped here, feeling completely bored and sorry for myself...Anyway, 2 days til Disney and it cannot come fast enough for me!!!!!

Sounds like a rough time for you, at least you have Disney to make you feel better!

I never know if I should tell them my actual due date or the date of my scheduled RCS.

Oh, well. It's not like the complete strangers really need to know. Some people do put waaaay too much stock in a due date!

I agree, I just tell most people I am due "in September" unless they ask for a specific date, then I explain.

Sorry your little guy is doing cartwheels in there - hopefully he'll flip back soon. If it comes down to a c-section, I agree with the other ladies that said it's not that bad. I would much rather have a scheduled c-s than an emergency one, but even with the emergency one with DS, I still recovered pretty quickly!

After my c-section with DS, DH snuck me a sip of the milk he was putting in his coffee (I also hadn't eaten in over 24 hours), and it was the best milk ever!!

Wow, you are exactly 1 week ahead of me, but so much more prepared!! We haven't toured the hospital yet, the nursery is still being painted, etc. My doc still does appts every 2 weeks at this point, though. I should be having my little girl just a few days after you!

I hit post before I could update on my latest family drama.

So I had assumed I wouldn't be having a shower for this baby for a variety of reasons: it's my 2nd, DS is 3 and I still have most of his stuff, moved across the country recently and don't have much family or friends here, etc. But I was ok with it, because really I don't need that much and we can pretty much afford what we do need.

But last weekend, I was at BRU with my mom and she was telling me not to buy some stuff b/c other people would be buying it. I asked what other people and she hinted that her and my sister would be having a shower. But when I asked for details, like when, she wouldn't tell me!

I am a crazy over-planner that HATES surprises. My mom and sister both know this, but still insist on surprising me every time they want to do something nice. The idea of a surprise shower really stresses me out, b/c I am already 31 weeks, so I am uncomfortable and tired most of the time. I admit, there are days I do not shower.

So I'm getting all worked up about the idea of having to be "happy" on a day when I might be miserable and unable to plan for it. And potentially looking crappy for all of the obligatory photos that will be taken. I will probably end up crying b/c that's how I react to everything, especially when I am pregnant. I should just be grateful for the shower, but I am stressing out over it instead. Why can't they just tell me the date? Why does it have to be a surprise?!?

I'm the same way. I don't like surprises. I like to know what is going to happen, the general idea of how things are going to go and when. I'm not a surprise girl either.

You'd think they'd consider your feelings on that one. "Oh, we have a hormonal pregnant lady!-- why don't we make her miserable? It'll be so much fun!?"

Pollito: I feel your pain. A friend of mine held a surprise shower for me at 32 weeks. Luckily, DH knew about it and also knows I HATE surprises like that so he told me. I had a good day that day and the shower turned out to be nice. I'm glad I wasn't surprised by it, though. It may have been a different story. I am supposed to have another "surprise" shower on Sunday in the town I live and work in. That I am not looking forward to at all. Three weeks has made a big difference to me...though I wasn't at my best for the first shower I am far more uncomfortable and gross feeling now. I can barely make it through the day at work and all I feel well at all doing is laying stretched out on the couch. I honestly don't know how I am going to sit through the whole thing and almost all of the people invited (with a few exceptions) are people I don't really know and/or like. I know they mean well, and I am grateful for it, but... Your family should definitely be more considerate, though.

Baby has found a new place to put his foot: right in my ribs. he is also practicing to be a soccer star! OUCH!

I totally agree that Showers can be stressful. My church will be throwing me a shower after the baby is born, but I also really wanted to do something before the baby comes as well. My friends had been talking about doing a shower for me. So about 2 weeks ago I finally said, lets just do one of our ladies nights out together and make it into a small baby shower. Not a huge group of people, but the ones that I' really close to and want to share this moment with. So of my 2 friends, one has been MIA and it looks like my one friend will be doing everything. I actually prefer it that way as my other friend tends to go over board and doesn't think about the cost of things. So I really should get working on my list of people to invite as time is running out.
