My big U/S is already scheduled for April 12th. I can't wait! I'll be 18.5 weeks then.

With my DS I just felt strongly that he was a boy from the very beginning, but with this baby I really have no idea. I would love to have a girl, but a boy would save us a ton of money because we could reuse all of DS's really cute, barely worn stuff.
DH hopes it's a girl, so we don't have to buy much. We have a ton of stuff with the tags still on it.. much of her "gear" is hardly used. The thing we used the most is her exersaucer!! I think her swing got used three times.

I have an inkling, but my inklings are frequently wrong. MIL says boy, but as she said yesterday, she thinks every baby is a boy. Gma-in-law thinks another girl. I think my mom wants a boy, but she has issues with this pregnancy anyway. I seriously thought DD was a boy from the get-go.. I was wrong!

Ohhh!!! I get mine tomorrow, I am so excited! :rotfl:

Wow! Another month???
I go to my OB on Monday and she'll give me the order to schedule my ultrasound. I really hope she doesn't tell me to wait another week because I'm going consignment sale shopping with my best friend next Friday. I'd love to know what I am having by then!!

She did my ultrasound with DS at 18 weeks so I think I have a pretty good shot at finding out next week!!

I have a feeling this is a girl, too, but it might just be wishful thinking. I want a little girl so bad. I see little girl clothes and cry in the stores.
I never did that wish DS... maybe because this is my last baby? :confused3

I went upstairs and crawled into bed and fell asleep. DS woke up at 11:30... gave him a bottle and crawled back in bed to wait on him and he fell asleep again! He's still asleep. We're ALL messed up at my house. :rotfl:

I know how you feel about the last baby and gender thing. I still cry over the girl clothes, and I already have one! It's just that she is so big now.... my baby!!

I don't know when we're going to have our big U/S. I have to switch OB's from my midwife and I'm not sure where I'm going yet.(Ughhh.) Unless I go to one of the places that does the 3D/4D ultrasounds. I might get impatient enough to do that! I'd prefer not to spend the money, but ack! this is killing me.

We had our second ultrasound on Friday and it looks like we're having another little girl around July 25. princess:

Congrats on your little princess!! princess:

Found my Prince: Yeah!

Piecy: I was really surprised that they won't try to do it at my next vist; I'll be 17weeks and 1 day. I am HOPING they will order it for sooner than 2 weeks after that visit, but if not life goes on. I just really want to know so I can buy some things. DH is REALLY adament that we have to wait, which I think is silly but whatever.

I think it's a boy, but who knows?

Speaking of buying things: DH is sort of driving me nuts (but it could just be the hormones, LOL). For example, I am 99% sure I want the stroller I mentioned earlier. We have seen it as well, and pushed it in the store, etc., and I really like it. I just want to buy the darn thing (It is navy and tan, but we think that will be okay for either a boy or a girl; we both like navy :) ) He wants me to wait and do our registry and see if people buy it for us. I don't see what the big deal is; we can afford it just fine..wierd

I am concerned (and he doesn't understand) because I have read a LOT of stories about people that refuse to buy off of your registry and just buy whatever THEY want to give you. I can totally see this happening for us, and with things like the stroller, carseat, etc. that are important, I want total control over it, KWIM?

Silly hormones...

I just had to share my excitement since no one IRL really cares lol...

I got my double stroller!! UPS just dropped it off, and I couldn't wait to take it out of the box. How cool!! It's becoming real, I'm gonna be a mommy of 2!!!

:lmao: It's hard to imagine being a mom of 2, huh? DH and I are still stunned by it all and we still have 22 weeks to go! What stroller did you end up getting?

I have a question about car seats. We bought a Britax Marathon ($300) for DDs main car seat. We got a Triumph for DHs ($130) truck. Each has its own merits. Now that we are having a second, and DD has not outgrown her seats - and probably won't for some time - we have to buy two more car seats. I'd rather not spend the money on another Britax, so I was thinking of getting two more Triumphs. Unless anyone has a car seat that runs about $100 that they love?

We are having a shower thrown for us by friends. It's a small thing since we already have most everything we need. But the friends are going to chip in and buy us a big item. So I'm going to ask for my double stroller. Is anyone planning you a shower? Or are your parents planning on buying you a big gift? Those are options.

And look on the bright side - you can always return the stuff and buy the stroller yourself. Then it's like they bought it for you!

I wanted control over it, too. And I didn't want to wait!! I'm the same as Mrs.Charming, when I saw it on sale I snatched it up!
I was in excruciating pain walking through Walmart (to get Rolaids, I thought I had heartburn but it was really a gallbladder attack!) and saw the Fisher Price Rainforest Swings on an endcap with a clearance sign. I MADE DH go get one :rotfl: It was normally ~$130, on clearance for $75. There are certain things you just don't pass up!!!

I started hoarding clearance clothes as soon as I found out DS was a boy.. at the time, DH didn't get it but the fact that we haven't had to go buy much (other than sleepers) as he grows, he has loved! I just pull the next box out of the closet and we're good to go.
I bought ALL of his summer clothes at KMart last summer when it was 40% off clearance. I probably paid $25 for 17 outfit sets. More than enough to get him through this summer!! Got swim trunks for $1, too!

Everyone made fun of me but like you said- we could afford it, so we bought it! I bought ALL of the big ticket items myself. Changing table, crib, glider, car seat, pack-n-play, swing, bouncer... My parents ended up "buying" the stroller. I'd already purchased it but they wrote me a check and I handed it over... they gave it to me at the baby shower haha. My dad is a Jeep fanatic and I got a Jeep stroller so he said he had to buy his grandson his first Jeep. :)

I can't wait to find out! I bought a dress this weekend, I couldn't say no to it.
If it's a boy, we're set. I won't need much at all. Going home outfit and some super cute new outfits to take pictures in.

I got a lot of the big items I registered for at my main shower - it was great! Some people will just buy you what they want, but a lot will buy from your registry. That being said, I did buy the stroller I wanted myself. :goodvibes

We have 3 Marathons for DS too (my car, DH's car and my dad's truck - my dad is our nanny) but I was thinking of buying a Graco Snugride we could use until DS moves into booster seats. I hate to spend like $900 more on carseats. :scared1: I know you can just get exra bases for the infant carseats. :goodvibes

VetteChick: I know someone around here is going to throw me one; but I doubt we'll get much other than cheapie stuff (that sounds bad; I don't mean that in an ungrateful way, just thinking practically); it would just be aquaintances. My parents will probably buy us the crib (just a guess) but let me pick it personally. I don't know about anything else; people very well could but if not I don't want to wait until the last minute and have a ton of expense all at once, if that makes sense, when it won't be a hardship for us to buy these things, and will be far less stressful to do so over time and already have them.

Anything we get will be wonderful, of course, I just want to be practical and plan ahead so we don't have lots of big expenses all at once, KWIM? There's really no way to know :)

Charming - We have a similar problem with DS escaping. He can also unbuckle his stroller, so he's not even safe there! Why is your mom so negative on the pregnancy?

ZPT - Sorry to hear about the ER scare and pneumonia, but I'm not that surprised from your description of how you've been feeling.  Don't freak out about the Albuterol being a C, my pcp said that taking Albuterol is still better than not taking anything, b/c it's most important that you be able to breathe! I would consult the OB about drug recommendations, but your A&A doc will know better what works for you. My pcp had a little book of drugs and the fetal rating that she looked up when I questioned my asthma and allergy meds. As for your elevated heart-rate, that is probably from the increased Albuterol usage. I know that is always a side effect for me when using it too often.

Good news is, spending the week in the Caribbean (and swimming in the ocean) has really cleared up my back. So maybe you just need a trip to some place tropical!

I like how you think! :thumbsup2

EmALee - I can lay outside in March :rolleyes1 (live in Phoenix), but I won't. I work full time M-F, and I am VERY pale so I burn easily. I do spend a little time outdoors on weekends and evenings, but always wear sunscreen. As for sleep help, I started using my Snoogle pillow from 1st pregnancy again. We call it Sancho since it is so big and takes up so much room, but I love it! :lovestruc

Piecey - weird that your OB was pushing for a VBAC, not many push for it and leave the choice up to the mother or push for a repeat C. I wouldn't go for a VBAC in your situation either (or in mine!). My mom ruptured the blood vessels in her face before. Over the years, the markings faded, but now they are more obvious again now that she's getting older.

dizluvah - I was also unable to BF due to meds, and for me it was easiest to put DS in a crib from the start. Since we are not BF, you can't lie down to feed, you have to sit up. So I fed DS in a recliner in his room, with a can of formula next to it, and the bottles in the bathroom between my room and DS's room. If you have a small house, you wouldn't NEED the co-sleeper the same way bf moms do, but there may be reasons you would WANT it.

Gabe's mommy - how nice that you had such a wonderful trip! Our DS also climbs into our bed many nights, and I would like to put a stop to it before #2 is born. I'm also trying to wait to buy anything until we know the gender for sure.

Christina - I go back and forth between calling this baby he or she. Like you, I want a girl, but am convinced it will be a boy since I want a girl so badly. Your DH sounds pretty confident predicting the sex of un-conceived future children! :rotfl2: Sounds like my DH "promising" a girl this time!

WDWorBUST - taking your DD to WDW for a girls trip sounds like fun!

FoundMyPrince - congrats on anther princess! princess:

Iris - I don't see a problem with buying the stroller if you have the $$, especially if you find a good price. One thing to keep in mind, that at BRU (and possibly some other stores), anything that is not bought off your registry, you can buy yourself plus 10% off.

Vettechick - for carseats, we have the Britax Decathlon in my car since DS was so big, and a SafeSeat in my mom's car. I much prefer the Decathlon, but it is much more expensive. We just had to replace DS's Decathlon b/c we were in a car accident, and it also retails for > $300, but I found a discontinued pattern on clearance on Albeebaby.com for $200. Insurance company was paying, but I hate paying too much for something! We also like the infant carriers until baby outgrows them since you don't have to wake baby up to go in and out of car.

*******************
We're mostly waiting to buy anything until we find out the gender. I'm really hoping for a girl, and since the Best Baby Gender Test supported my wish, now I'm extra hopeful and will probably be a little disappointed if it's a boy. Though I would love him just like DS, and it would probably make things easier since we already have so much boy stuff.

But I have to confess, that Target had this adorable pair of ruby red patent looking toddler shoes that I have been eyeing since before I got pg. Then right after I found out I was pg, I saw them on clearance for $3, so I bought them! I also bought an adorable little one-piece dress/shorts outfit (only $6!) that would be a perfect coming home outfit since it will still be 100+ here when LO is born.

I figure if the U/S shows boy, I can return the items, save them for next time, or give them to someone else.

The only thing I regret not purchasing was a GREAT deal on a Graco Snugride/Stroller combo on clearance at Target for only $60! That's less than just the carseat! At that price, who cares if the stroller sucks! But I wasn't pg yet and was with mom so didn't want her to think I was.

Oh, I almost forgot. I found out this week-end that my little sister is "friends" with my OB. Anyone else find that weird? I don't know how close of friends they are, b/c my sis has a tendency to exagerate things, but she did text him when she found out he was my OB.

Allison - We have the Marathon as well for DS. We just move it from car to car since 90% of the time he's in my car. It's so easy to install it's not a big deal. My plan is once the baby outgrows the infant carrier I am going to upgrade DS's Marathon to a 80lbs harness seat and put Ryan into the Marathon. When Alex as little I used the Cosco Scerena (Spelling?) when we traveled so that I didn't need to subject the Marathon to the abuse of the airlines.

Found my Prince: Congrats on your princess!!!

I could NOT wait until my big U/S to find out. We went to a private place around 15/16 weeks to find out. I just couldn't wait. Every U/S has confirmed our baby boy since then. It really wasn't a doubt that early either!

The upside to having another boy is that we haven't HAD to buy much. Doesn't mean I haven't but I didn't need to. I did get Ryan a few new outfits and I pick up anything long sleeve/long pants on clearance up to 12/18 months since Alex was a South Florida baby and we have very little for warm clothes. We needed a new swing since I gave that to a friend when we moved to save room. I'll get a new highchair once Ryan is ready for it. That's about it ... still have the pack n play (which is gender neutral anyway), infant carrier, bouncer, jumperoo and stuff like that. I would have had a HARD time not buying everything new and PINK if it was a girl.

Patsy - I think it's safe to take the top two names off the list ... then I get bumped to #3.

Anyone heard from Kiki?

Piecey, we're buying everything ourselves this time. We had a shower last time but we got *nothing* off our registry. I waited and waited for the shower and expected that we'd get things off of our registry-- nope. Had to buy it ourselves. So this time, I'm just going to do it myself-- what I should have done last time! (Seriously I bought *one* thing for DD before my shower... a romper.)

Tonight I found a Britax Roundabout 50 at Target on clearance for $139! Woohoo! I was really excited. I also got a few things at the Carters outlet too, some girl, some boy... saving the receipt! Banner day for baby things!!

DH was a little upset, he thinks people should be helping us out on things like this, but our family is a tad unreliable. Just a little. :headache: I think I have a snowball's chance in he** of having a shower this time, but I'm becoming OK with that :)

Pollito, haha about your DS getting out of the stroller. Thankfully our latch is a PITA to unhook... but that doesn't stop her. She just climbs up and out of the harness. She also figured out the red button lets her out of the car seat (her mortal enemy) but her little fingers aren't strong enough.. YET. That is going to be a scary day when they are!

That's funny about your sister and OBGYN! :upsidedow

I have no idea why my mom is so negative about the pregnancy. The only thing I can think of is that she's jealous that I get the second child she wanted (not infertility, my dad was lazy) or she thinks we're just going to dump DD2. Or, she's just a little batty. Which she is.

Irisbud, I'd just buy the stroller. I know, I know, I'm being an enabler!

Hi everyone! Good to see some new faces on here. :) I'm furloughed today, so I'm catching up on housework and DISing!

Sorry to just get back to you. Yes, we have the Original one. It's so nice. We really like it. Baby is right there and it's easy to move around. It's a nice investment and one you can sell or pass on.

Is anyone planning to pump exclusively? I did with DD and really enjoyed it. I tried to breastfeed for the first week but we could never work the latch out right and I had the worst cracked nipple. It was torturous! So I started pumping and I made it 4 months before I pretty much dried up. Which worked out because I was going back to school and pumping would have been challenging.

I think I'm going to try the breast again, but more likely pull the pump out. Just wondering if anyone else pumps exclusively?

I pumped a lot for my twins, they were pretty small when they were born and had a hard time latching. I pumped until they were big enough to get latching down and just nurse. I was so happy when they got to that point because I was not a good pumper and it was soooo much easier to just nurse. Good luck to you whichever you choose though, every day you nurse or pump is that much more beneficial to baby!

Has anyone gotten so sick they ruptured the blood vessels in their face??

I just got sick (ugh) and it happened again. Happened a few times with DS when I got sick during galblladder attacks but this is the first time during this pregnancy. I look terrible!!

I was going to run errands but I'm thinking I might just go curl up in bed and watch a movie instead.

Gosh, that sounds awful. I hope you curled up in bed with a movie instead of errands- they can wait til at least tomorrow. Feel better

Becky - I hope you feel better soon ... have they talked about taking the baby sooner rather than waiting for you to go into labor? At least you are ALMOST there!

So I decided against the Arm's Reach for now. I am going to use my mom's pack n play since I want to keep ours downstairs. If I find that we are all able to sleep in the same room after a week or two, then I'll buy the Arm's Reach. DH snores and sometimes it's pretty bad. I wear ear plugs which I can't do with the baby in the same room so I am worried I won't be able to sleep regardless!!

One more week to go. I can't believe it. The second time around is so different, at least for me. I can't wrap my head around the fact that I am having a new person. I think because the gender is the same and everything ... I keep thinking I am just having Alex all over again. Does that make any sense? Like when the Dr. shows me the baby just after delievery, I keep thinking it will be Alexander! It's a wierd emotion. Maybe I am wierd. I also probably already wrote this in another post earlier! :-)

No talk of delivering earlier. I had an appointment today, one of those "we insist you meet everyone at least once in every pregnancy" kind of deals. I remember this doctor not so fondly from my pregnancy with my twins and from talking to him on the phone after my miscarriage while trying to get a question answered, and I didn't like him either time but I was hoping he'd be better today. NOPE! He was terrible, DH called him useless! He seriously rushed my entire appointment and was just like "Yeah whatever" to everything! Even the info I had from the ER docs suggesting they follow up with my high heart rate and stuff, he just blew it off! I really don't like him and I will refuse to ever see him again. I told DH if he is on call when I am in labor, we're leaving. There are enough other hospitals in the area to not have to put up with him. I had wanted to talk about an induction near the 38 week mark, just because this pregnancy has been so lousy and because DH is going to be doing some traveling but he was not the person to talk to.

Your DH's snoring sounds awful! I hope you guys are able to work it out, what will you do if he is keeping everyone up?

OMG, you poor thing. You must feel absolutely awful. Hopefully you have a happy healthy baby in your arms really soon.

I am hoping that this works to my favor when I ask for a 38 week induction. Something good has to come out of it, right?

Oh he sounds like a real winner. Ugh. LOL, I'd leave too. Haha I'd call the hospital beforehand and ask if he was the one on call.. then if he was... drive to the other hospital! I can't stand doctors like that. Seriously, they need to get out of the medical field entirely. Go be a stockbroker or something.
