Emalee, you can probably get those animals at a local craft store. My mom got them for about .75c a piece at a store here called "Crafts 2000".. she super glued clothespins to the back and I have them on Lucas' curtains. I think she used them to decorate at my baby shower, too!

They're very cute. That cake is super cute!
It's a bit far away, but this is a picture before Lucas moved in...
*eta* I forgot about Epi! I'm assuming by IV you mean either Nubain or Demerol? I think those are the two most commonly used. I had major issues with contractions causing me to have gallbladder attacks. My original pain management plan was Nubain (my OB's drug of choice) but the closer I got to my due date, the worse and more frequent the gallbladder attacks I got were. I had to go to L&D to get Demerol (My OB was, unfortunately, never the one on call so I got their drug of choice

). The first few times I didn't even KNOW I was having contractions- the nurse said the pain from the gallbladder was diverting my attention from the contractions. Whoops. lol.
Anyway! Demerol only numbed the gallbladder attack enough so that I could get some sleep. So I don't think it's a bad choice, it definitely took the edge off! It depends on the type of labor you have-- with just straight contractions, I think it might be enough to get someone through but I don't know if it would be enough with back labor.
It also depends, in my opinion, on how your OB will do it. Some OBs will let you take it 'til the end and others stop about an hour before you're ready to push... I had back labor, gallbladder attacks and all that other crap so I got the Epi. I loved it! It made the 16 hours I was in the hospital laboring tolerable. Just be more diligent than I was and if you think it's wearing off, let them know! I spent a few horrific hours (complete with hyperventilating) with no pain management because it wore off and the anesthesiologist was nowhere to be found. I swore to DH that I was never doing that again. Technically... I stuck to that, because I'll be doing a RCS this time.
Oh, and some people say they hurt... but I REALLY didn't feel anything. Maybe I got a great anesthesiologist (not the one who went missing later... I'm not sure how I feel about THAT guy

) or maybe I'm just weird, but the reason I didn't originally plan for an Epi was because the idea freaked me out. Then I got one, didn't feel a thing and all was well on earth until the shift change...
