Moms to be Part 4

The first heartbeat my OB found for DS was 182. She told me it was totally normal. I think I was a little over 10wks at the time.

Thanks, good to know! :goodvibes

Hey everyone. I'm about 7 weeks along and tend to be a worrier. I just ate a deli sandwich for lunch without thinking. Can someone calm me down please? :headache: so i'll quite worrying about listeria. TIA.

Welcome! I agree with the other ladies that listeria is really rare. I know I ate quite a few deli sandwiches while pg with DS before I found out about it, and I still craved them so continued eating them.

OMG I miss so much being sick!! Eeep! Sick + pregnant = horrible. I'm coughing so hard I'm puking!

I hope you're feeling better!

Then I went to the hospital childbirth class and they served us cold cuts. :rotfl:

That is too funny! :rotfl2:

Anyone have any idea what happened to karenj2? I think it's safe to remove her from the list now but I hate doing that. :(

I don't think I've seen her since I started posting in February or so....probably safe to remove.

I can feel him, and you can see his outline a good portion of the time.

That's so cool!

Piecey ... due August 31... It's a boy!

Congratulations! It will be nice for Lucas to have a little brother so close in age! Love that you labeled the u/s pictures - and that is definitely a clear boy shot!

I'm actually worrying more this time around for some reason. I guess I keep thinking that everything went so perfectly with DD14mos that I'm due for something to go wrong. (I know it doesn't work like that, but I'm hormonal.)

I've been the same way, don't really know why. I'm showing more, but I somehow *felt* more pg last time.

I'm a lot more worried about caffeine consumption than anything else though.

One of my friends asked her doc about coffee b/c she didn't want to give it up and he told her to drink an extra glass of water for every cup of coffee she drinks, and not to have more than 2 cups of coffee per day. She had a nice big healthy baby boy!

I almost can't wait another week and one day to find out what we are having! Aggh...the suspense!

I know!! It's killing me too - and I still have to wait 4 more weeks!

It's been a rough few days here. We live in RI and we have had record rainfall. Our basement not only flooded, but we got a huge crack in our foundation and water is pouring in like crazy. We have 3 pumps going and we are barely keeping up. DH was away until last night so I had to call 911 when the crack happened because it too much for me to handle. Miraculously, the fire dept pumped me out and set me up until DH got home. Then we lost power for an hour and all the hard work was down the drain....literally because the water came in so quickly. We are doing better today but the river near us still has not crested so we are keeping our fingers crossed. UGH :(

That really sucks. I remember when my parents' house flooded like that when I was 15 and it was just awful. It had been raining for over 24 hours straight, some crazy record amount and the sump pumps couldn't keep up, then electricity went out, and the water started coming up every hole in the finished basement. Then the yards were over-filling with water, so it started pouring in through the windows, even though they were closed. Total water INSIDE the house was almost 4 feet! :scared1:

I hope you and your family are able to stay safe and dry and your house doesn't get any worse! :grouphug:

I've been allowed to take Zyrtec, so if it is an allergy/sinus thing, maybe that would help you?

I actually take Zyrtec every day anyway :goodvibes I haven't had a headache for about a week though (knocking on wood), so hopefully it is over.

*************************

So, I took an Intelligender test today and it said.......BOY pirate:

I took the Best Baby Gender test 4 weeks ago and it said.....GIRL princess:

So which one is going to be right? :confused3 The weird thing is, that the color results are opposite for the two tests, and my "sample" result was the same color taking both tests. Maybe the Best Baby was too early? Though girl results are supposed to be more accurate since other things can supposedly cause a boy result.

Has anyone else taken either of these tests?

Your flood comment made me remember a time growing up when we had wicked floods- our yard and basement were bad enough but my friend lived on a farm that was down lower and closer to the river (we live in the CT River Valley) and they had so much water accumulation that her dad rode their canoe down the street to check on some elderly neighbors! :lmao:

Glad your headaches seem to be gone, fingers crossed that they don't return!

No idea on the gender tests, although I will say you crack me up trying so hard to find out! When will you have your ultrasound?

Okay, I'm excited now!! :rotfl:

DS has 3 teeth coming in- the top 2 central incisors and the bottom left lateral incisor and he was driving me NUTS! But he loves to go out so we went to Kohls (and of course, he was a perfect angel.. he LOVES to be out and about!) They had "Big Brother" and "Little Brother" stuff!!! I'm going back tomorrow when the extra 15% off starts to get some stuff!

I think I also decided on jungle/monkey theme for the nursery. Now I'm getting really excited. Can't wait for classes to be over with so I can start tearing apart the guest room to make a nursery!:banana:

Anyone picked out bedding? I love looking at all the different types! Nursery pictures are awesome, too! I'm a picture freak!! :dance3:

Piecey: I've picked out some for if baby is a boy: They have some cute Mickey playing baseball stuff. IDK if baby is a girl. I really want non-Pooh Disney stuff, but that seems to be in short supply. Are you still in school? What are you studying? Will you be done before the next baby arrives? I'm working on finishing my PhD in I/O Psych and hope to be All-But-Dissertation when baby gets here; I just finished my MA a couple months ago and am soooo ready to be done with it!

I finished my A.S. in Business Administration last December, but I'm working towards a B.A. in Elementary Education now. I wasted a lot of time on Business because I worked in banking and my employer paid tuition. I could probably finish a B.S. in Business within a year... but I'd really rather teach! So I switched. When I graduate I'll be able to teach Elementary Education and History 5-9....

I've got no idea, honestly, when I'll be done. I've finished all the out-of-classroom required coursework to apply for the program except for 2 Education courses. The first one requires time in a classroom, though, so that is the hiccup at the moment (childcare!). My mom is most likely going to leave her job to stay home this fall.. which would be awesome! She said she'd watch both kids for me to take classes through the day, get my classroom hours in and then the next Fall she'd just have baby #2 (as Lucas would be old enough for the on-campus daycare which is like 1.50/hour while you're in class).

We can afford daycare but DH is somewhat against the idea with an infant... so that has been the biggest issue. I'm full-time right now, but taking all online classes. We moved into the house when I was 38 weeks pregnant with Lucas and I had a c-section, then my gallbladder out, then school started.. so I'm still slowly unpacking the house! :rotfl:

Holy smokes on PhD! What is I/O Psych??

OMG I feel like such a slacker! LOL you're all in school for advanced degrees, I'm a few credits short of a BFA. :rolleyes1 AH well.

Piecey, I'm glad you're getting excited, this is so why I want to know ASAP! I don't know what to do if it's a boy, I've hardly looked at boy things! I never really did a "theme" for DD.. just looks like the Pink monster threw up all over the place.

Pollito, I think the Intelligender tests are a pH test that can be affected by your diet that day, so that's why you might have gotten two different results. :)

ZPT and WDWAurora, I am so jealous that you're so close! I want a time machine :wizard:

eep! gotta write more later... 2 year olds are BUSY!!

Awwww...the little brother/big brother stuff sounds cute!

As for bedding, I actually haven't bought it yet as baby will be in a bassinet in our room for awhile and we're trying to move. so I don't really want to get too involved here anyhow. BUT, this is what we picked out. We were going for gender neutral and DH really liked this set. He doesn't usually show much interest in this sort of thing so I agreed to it:

we also put this blanket on our list, sounds like it would work with the theme you are thinking of:

Don't feel bad, I never finished either. My Dad died when I was in middle school and my mom remarried. My stepfather had a six figure income but was NOT contributing at all to my education. Unfortunately I couldn't even get a loan because I had to count his income towards expected family contribution so I did a few semesters at the community college until my savings ran out and then that was it for me. I was set to go back to school (much easier when you're an independent finally!) for my PharmD and then I found out I was expecting twins. Was thinking about going back again and found out about this baby on the way, so it's on hold again. Someday I guess, although I honestly have no desire to work, at this point I mostly want to do it to prove to people that I can.

Awww those are both really cute!! I love the little fox on the bedding set!!

I've been looking at all sorts of monkey and jungle bedding sets today. We're not going to repaint the room so I'm trying to find something that will work well with the existing paint color.

Mrs. Charming, when is your 3D???

Isn't that crazy? My sister got out a pool raft to go over to a neighbor's house and get coffee since they were uphill a little and still had power.

No idea on the gender tests, although I will say you crack me up trying so hard to find out! When will you have your ultrasound?

I know, right, I'm just dying to know, I can't stand not knowing! My doc said my u/s would be at 18 weeks, so 4 more weeks away.

We got a big brother shirt for Alex too, he loves it!

This is the theme of DS #1's second nursery (we moved when he was 1):
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3350189 Now it's a combo of that and http://www.target.com/dp/B0026H5C6M/ref=sc_fe_l_4/187-0159251-9802674 since he wanted a "Buzz Lightyear" room when he got a big boy bed, but I haven't committed all the way b/c I am too lazy to paint right now. :rotfl:

I've tried not to look at bedding sets for the new baby yet, b/c I don't want to get my heart set on some girl bedding then find out it's a boy. So I'll be waiting. :rolleyes1

What is the existing paint color?

DS has this blanket, http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2619871 which matches both his room and a Carter's stuffed monkey I bought him when he was first born that he was so attached to, and as you can see, there's a monkey "harness" on his back in my siggy pic. :goodvibes

Mrs C: I didn't finish my BA until I was 25. I had about 45 hours done, but Life got in the way. Then I realized I wasn't happy with where I was and needed to do something to change it.

Piecey: Industrial / Organizational psychology. Consultation, recruiting, high-level HR, etc. I like business and psychology so it's a great field for me. I do most of my work online as well, whenever I can. It works better for me than a traditional classroom; I like to work fast and get through everything. Hopefully your classroom hours will work out; it sounds like you have a good plan!

Ahhhh I think I found the bedding I want!!!!!!!!!!!:banana:

This is it, if DH likes it too!

This is the paint color in the guest bedroom right now. It's called 'Belgian Waffle'.. originally meant to be used in Lucas' room when I wasn't going to find out what he was. That changed, though, so his nursery did too... and the guest bedroom got the lovely paint color.

This is the bedding! I really think this is it! :rotfl:

I think the room in the picture is pretty awesomely close to the color of our guest bedroom! Plus, all of the nursery furniture I am stealing from Lucas' room is the natural wood color.

I LOVE all the monkeys!!!!!! :lovestruc I was bad, I looked before I knew. I admit to falling in love with some girl sets. It was tough not to look at all the adorable dresses at Kohls today but I'm happy with my boys. I know they'll keep me busy! I'm excited to find a coming home outfit for him! I won't buy much else, other than stuff for Christmas/Easter/pictures... I told DH I'm not putting him in the same clothes Lucas wore, that it's not fair to do that. So he'll get new stuff for special occasions.

We're hitting the outlets in Williamsburg on the way to the beach and I think they have a Carters/Gymboree/Childrens Place/Motherhood Maternity so I'm so excited to look at those stores with my best friend!
Her OB told her 20 weeks for her ultrasound, which is the week we're at the beach so I am HOPING and praying that he'll do it before we leave so we can shop!!!

That actually sounds interesting to me. I didn't know such a thing existed!!

Piecey

I love the bedding you have selected! So cute:)

Thanks! I really think that is it!!
I showed DH and while he wasn't as excited as I am, he didn't hate it so I think we have a winner!!

I love the bedding everyone has picked out! All of the sets are so cute it's hard to choose!

This is what we want for a boy:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B0016JOT3S/ref=dp_image_text_0?ie=UTF8&n=165796011&s=baby-products

For a girl; I have no idea :confused3

Yea! My smilies work again  I haven't been able to click on them and put them in for a week! :goodvibes

I love that too!!! It would be so easy to decorate a room, put stuff on the walls, etc.-- sports balls!

I showed DH and while he wasn't as excited as I am, he didn't hate it so I think we have a winner!!

for some reason I found that really funny! :rotfl2:

Oh, and I think the bedding you picked is really cute!

Love the Mickey sports one too, Iris!

I found a picture we took of Alex after we gave him his big brother shirt - doesn't he look excited?
