Moms to be Part 4

Thank you for the kind words everyone

Sara: She was hit by a car. We live on a horse farm in a rural area, far back from the road and she had never gone near there before. I wasn't home when this happened; My Dad had come up to work on some equipment for DH and both of my doggies were out with him, as they usually were when anyone was working outside. The worst thing is, since it was a nice, sunny day, and just knowing the stretch of road and knowing that she moved slow and wouldn't have "darted" out, the people that did it almost had to have either done it on purpose, or not tried not to do it. They didn't even stop when it happened. At least it was instant, so she probably felt no pain. My dad was there very quickly and said she was already gone. I just miss her alot. She brought so much joy to our lives, and was always so happy and had such a fun, funny personality, and was such an innocent, sweet baby. :(

That is sooo sad. :sad1: We had to put down one of our doggies during my first pregnancy and I remember it being so much harder because of all the hormones than other times. I can't imagine what you must be going through with it being so sudden. It's amazing how attached we get to our doggies. Do something extra special for yourself, mkay?

Parents and relatives are starting to ask us about names now. And now I remember why we didn't tell them w/ DD what the name would be. Because EVERYTHING I come up with -- even if it's a name that is BARELY on the list -- my mother tells me is too weird. Seriously? Aaron is weird? Eli? Charlie???????????? And then my step-dad (who is probably only half serious) starts suggesting stuff like Julius or Othello. Please shoot me.

I'm having a crap day. Tomorrow is my dad's probate hearing and I just had to get my HUSBAND to call my UNCLE to tell him to answer the d--- phone and call the freaking probate lawyer. (Uncle has to be there to swear he actually did sign the will). I've already got enough headaches with not being able to get my dad's mail (it's going to my grandmother's house (in another town) where my dad died -- and my uncle lives coincidentally), and getting my brother's to answer their phones and go sign the stupid paperwork. And I'm the one who is bank rolling the entire operation because brothers have no money, dad had very little money (has a house & car to sell) and I can't get to any of dad's money because he didn't trust any of us enough to put us on the bank account. I'll get all the money back, but it's frustrating to be expected to handle all of this while working full time and pregnant and taking care of an 8 year old... when NONE of them have any other responsibilities. Sheesh!

Ok, sorry... rant over. :) New mommies should post pictures so I can see all those adorable faces and know there is a light at the end of my tunnel too! Congrats to ALL the new mommies!

MIL suggested a lot of weird names too. Lots of Biblical names too.. that's not quite our thing. We kinda like Hawaiian names, I have some Hawaiian blood in me. We thought DD would be dark hair/dark eyes... HA! Joke was on us. She has blue eyes and is strawbery blonde!

I'm sorry about your dad's passing. I wish your uncle and brothers would be a little more proactive for you. Men. I tell ya. :confused3 That's a lot of responsibility and stress.

Isabel is really pretty. Doh! to your BIL. If you're going to call her (if it's a girl of course) by a nickname, I'd say go for it. I should take my own advice on the "Luke" thing.

How about Julia, or something like that? I like Julisa (sp?) is nice. There are some really pretty hispanic names... MIL's hudband is from Ecuador, so I hear them alot, he has a BIG BIG BIG family.

We probably would call Isabel by a nickname, either Izzy, Elle, Ellie, or Belle. I think it will depend on when we see her. The IL's are so far calling their Isabel by her full name, but nickname will probably end up being Chavela, since they are both hispanic.

Luke is actually one of the boy names I like, but DH doesn't.

I also like Julia and Juliana, and I agree that there are lots of pretty hispanic girl names. The only bad thing about the BIG families is that it makes it harder to not repeat a name. Most of my personal first choices are already used, for both boys and girls. But they also seem to repeat the same names a lot intentionally. There are 3 Rauls and 3 Antonios in the immediate family:rolleyes:

Oh, we've talked but we can't seem to agree ;) It's funny because DH is a very agreeable guy and we rarely disagree, but we have always had a hard time with boys names. Both times we agreed to wait and see. Obviously the first time it was a non-issue since we had a girl.....now we have to put the negotiating skills to the test

If we were having a girl we both liked Genevieve.....we do both like John, Patrick and James but we don't like Pat and Jim for nicknames so we'd have to give that serious consideration......

I like your boy names too, but am not crazy about the nick-names either. I run into the same problem with most boy names I like.

Aww, Iris, your poor baby. :grouphug: Since you can't have a drink, have some ice cream!

Family is so weird thinking they have a say in the name and making you feel bad about names you choose. We didn't share DS's name until after he was born for the same reason.

Sorry about your bad day, family can be such a pain!

I had my Level 2 u/s this morning and it's a BOY!!! We are so excited :) Abby really wanted a sister but I am sure she will warm up to the idea of a brother (plus she's not even 3 yrs old so I am not sure she even has the ability to really WANT one over the other, she was just saying it). Most importantly, he is measuring fine and all seems to be developing as it should :)

So, as excited as I am, I admit to being a little nervous and it seems silly. I know what to excpect from a girl but a boy and boy things seems foreign to me. Any other moms feel that way?? I just looks around at our toyroom that looks like Cinderella Castle exploded everywhere and think, "well, we need to make room for some cars and trucks." It will be great though!

Congratulations on the boy!!! Everyone told me to watch out because they're full of energy and they weren't kidding!! Lucas keeps me busy! :goodvibes

We were talking about names over the weekend, not coming up with a whole lot. MIL thought if it's a girl we could call her Lilo. Hehe, I think it's kinda cute. It goes with our last name too, few names do. I'm stuck on boys names though. We like Logan (haha, Wolverine from X-men!), but it's my dad's middle name, and my mom would have a conniption fit. We like Luke (Skywalker!) too, but there's already a Luke with our last name--- Jay's cousin, I think he's 6 or 7 now. Booo. Have any of you thought of names yet?

I finally dug out the name book last night and told DH we had to get down to business with this! We got through G in the boys section and put a few names on the list. Then we'll narrow it down from there.

Bad weekend here. My beloved 8 month old puppy died suddenly and tragically. I miss her very, very much right now. DH bought her for me about a month after I had my MC, and she was the only thing that had made me smile in all that time at that point. I am just devestated.

I'm so sorry.

I saw my OB today. I was in and out within 20 minutes so I think they must have cancelled nearly everyone else. She was really nice, though, not rushed or anything so I'm not sure what was going on today.

She asked me to wait 2 weeks for my ultrasound. I was sad, but oh well. I can wait. I scheduled it for April 5th @ 7pm so DH won't have to take leave to go with me. My birthday is the 7th and I thought about waiting but decided against it. I can't wait to find out!
Hearbeat was 158, a LOT slower than DS ever was. He was always 165+... and it sounded like a washing machine which old wives tales say mean GIRL! So heres hoping.

Oh, and when I scheduled my next appointment I said they could switch me to a different day if it would makes things easier and they were relieved... so now I will have OB appointments on Wednesdays. I'm a SAHM, it doesn't matter when I go so hopefully switching days will clear up this appt. canceling/moving thing.

Well, according to the heart rate old wives tale, you're still above 140 so that still means girl. Of course, your previous DS and mine have about disproven that theory... :)

I hate waiting. At least you get to do yours at 18 weeks. My OB waits to 20 weeks... AND I had to reschedule mine for a business trip. Here's hoping you don't have to do that!

Can't wait to hear what the gender is!!!

Sorry you still have to wait for your u/s, but I think that's normal. It's just so hard to wait though! I hope the appt confusion is cleared up by changing days.

As for the heartbeat, I think both my Alex and Christina's Alex had heartbeats over 160 before they were born, so I don't think there is much truth to that wives' tale.

Oooh we have a name! Zachary Edwin. He'll primarily be Zack. DH and I agreed on very few boy names. We love Jacob, but I just can't live with the fact that it's been the most popular for 11 years running (although not last year). Edwin was DH's grandfather's name, and he passed away last November. I like Edwin/Edward anyway. I would have went for that for a first name. Oddly enough, Zachary would have been my name, had I been a boy.

Oh, and DH's sister went on Sunday morning to one of those minute clinics at CVS and was diagnosed there. The OB nurse told me I could either come in and get a culture, or just monitor my temp and throat and wait and see. I'm choosing to wait and see for now.

We have a boy name that we picked out a long time ago: Colton Liam. We just like the name Colton, and Liam is an Irish derivative of William, which was DH's father's name.

I think we have aggreed on a girl name (but not on how it should be spelled): Laney Elizabeth. DH says Lani, I say Laney or Lainey. Again, no significance, we just like the name.

Piecy: sorry you have an extra wait for your big ultrasound. My regular appointment is on Thursday, and they are supposed to schedule mine then. They said it would probably be two weeks later, on Friday, April 9th, which is a little wierd for me since that was my due date for the baby I had the MC with. I'm trying to decide if I will ask for a different date or not; not sure how I'll be feeling emotionally that day.

My girls are really, really sore lately, and a little, erm, leaky with clear fluid. Yucko. I also still keep getting sick...blech...

I like Zachary, that's one of my top choices too! :goodvibes But I heard that Alex's and Zach's are the most hyper kids, and I already have an Alex, so not sure I should push my luck!

That's good to know strep can be diagnosed so early. I'm usually the type to let sickness fester until it's unbearable and much worse than necessary.

I like both of your name choices. For Laney, how will you pronounce it? Lane-y or Lan-e? If it's the first, I prefer the Laney spelling.

Great names! DH and I still have no idea what we are going to name this next one. We are very picky. At least we find out tomorrow if we should be focusing on boy or girl names. Can't wait!

Saturday it was so gorgeous in S. Georgia, so I layed out for some sun. Well not only was the sun out, but copious amounts of pollen. You could literally see it in the air. So now I have major sinus issues going on. I've never been allergic to pollen, but I'm guessing it's just in my sinuses causing trouble.

So tonight I'm going to use DH's neti pot and see if I can't flush it out. Any advice? I've seen him do it plenty of times, so I know how to do it and I know it works. I'm just scared out of my britches!!

Amy - So sorry to hear about your puppy. We lost our sweet Maddy in November and she was only 15 months old. She was playing outside in my parents backyard and fell in their pool and drowned. We still can't figure out she managed that, but it was one of the worst days of my life. We are getting a new puppy - Abby - the end of the month and hopefully she'll fill that empty spot.

Welcome Penelope!!

Well I found out this past weekend that my OB is closing her practice as of June so now I have to find a new doctor. Not only that....but there is only one other in-network doctor in my town who I seriously dislike so won't be going to him. So now I'm going to end up about 30 minutes from home to have the baby....which is doable....but 5 minutes from home is a lot nicer for everyone involved!

The good news is I have my very first ultrasound on Thursday. My DH is a little nervous there might be 2 (my Hcg levels have been on the high side to higher than normal) so I'm excited to see a heartbeat and put my mind at ease that things are okay and I'm excited to see one little baby and put his mind at ease.

April 10th is the due date for the baby I m/c in September so I really get what you mean about being emotional. I am so super grateful to have gotten pg again right away but there is always going to be a part of me that misses the one we lost....it's a strange feeling I guess.

No kidding about the heartbeats, but I can hope right? lol

I had my ultrasound with Lucas at 18w4d.. I'm not sure when she gave me the order but I know she didn't ask me to wait, that was just the earliest appt. DH and I could make! So I was hoping. :guilty:

...oh man. I don't know if I can do 2. DS just started crying (he's been playing in living room while I worked on homework) so I went in to see what was wrong. He had coated himself in petroleum jelly.. and tried to pull up on the ottoman and slid and fell. It was hilarious (he's fine, just heartbroken he couldn't get up).. but I feel bad for laughing at him while he's all shiny. Plus, his shirt is stained hot pink because he wouldn't swallow all the Amoxicillin from earlier. :rotfl: Poor boy. What a rough night. :lmao:

I think the "rough night" is contagious. DD has been a handful tonight. We're potty training and she's had two accidents today-- RIGHT after DH cleaned our carpet. She won't keep her Pull Up on either. It's just one little thing after another, it's not like she is being "bad" or misbehaving it's just little things that make a big PITA for mommy and daddy.

I had to laugh when I read this...sounds like something i would have done when I was younger. Except I probably would have added baby powder or something! :rotfl: I'm glad you're the type of parent who laughs at something like that instead of getting mad about the mess he made!

Well, this probably comes too late.... but I was scared the first time I did it too... Let me tell you, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. In fact, it wasn't even as bad as getting pool water up your nose. Make sure you only use like 1/2 of the packet of saline stuff the first few days though, just to give your nose a chance to adjust. Good Luck if you haven't already done it.
