Moms to be Part 4

Ladies can you please say a prayer for me.

I'm having cramping and spotting and I'm scared for the outcome.

Thanks :)

Back from the ER.

They are calling it a "threatened miscarriage" but said it might be nothing since the spotting is light.

In other news, the pain on my left ovary is a cyst that is flaring up that I didn't know about but always thought in the back of my mind was there.

In other other news, the baby is 5 weeks 1 day, and I thought I was 6 weeks today... I also suspected I ovulated late and might not be as far along as I thought. The pregnancy is a yolk and sac so far and is in the uterus and not the tubes (which was suspected and why I was told to go to the ER)

I'm thinking of you, sending warm thoughts.

Hi ladies! I'm finally far enough along where I don't feel like I'll jinx it by starting to buy things (only have 2 pregnancy books and crib bedding so far), so my DH and I are starting to discuss different decisions we'll have to make regarding the baby.

Has anyone done cloth diapers? I really want to give it a shot (the environmentalist in me is having issues with disposables) but it's all so overwhelming. DH is handling the stroller/car seat decision since he loves to research that sort of thing, so it's only fair that I figure this part out. Is one brand really better then another? Has anyone tried the biodegradable liners you can flush?

I hope all is well with you ladies. We have the big ultrasound on the 19th, so hopefully the baby will cooperate and let us see if he/she is a boy or girl. I'd rather the baby be healthy then to find out the gender, so I'll be happy if we find out everything is okay.

I've been looking into cloth diapers as well. I found this great article on Babble. The ones I'm interested in are the G Diapers which have the flushable liners and the Bumgenius all in one pocket diapers.

From what I have read, it seems like for teeny newborns that it's best to use a disposable diaper until the cloth diapers fit a bit better, unless you want to buy more sizes.

My niece who had a little boy in the Spring is using cloth.
When she first told me about it I have to admit my first thought was :scared1:

When I saw them and she showed me all the little coverings she uses & I actually changed him was really easy. Just an extra step that takes a few seconds.

The only place you can easily get the cloth diapers in Babys R Us online. Target no longer carries them. Haven't looked into it but that is what I was told.

Thanks :)

That sounds like at least promising news! Prayers continue that the spotting will stop and the baby will be just fine.

Thanks ladies!

The spotting has stopped but the cramping has gotten worse so who knows what is going on. I was told at the ER to see an OB for follow up when I got home, so that means I would need an appointment today. Nobody will see me until next Monday so I feel defeated. I really wish I didn't live in Orlando. Back home this garbage would not be happening. If I needed a follow up, I was given one with no problems and runarounds. UGGGH.

Listen, if you feel like you need to and you can't get an appointment with your OB, then just head back to the ER. I'm sorry they are giving you the runaround! You just do what's best for you and don't let them push you around. Prayers remain with you and your baby!

Yesterday we had our 20 week ultrasound. We were so pleased to learn that we are having a boy! :woohoo: He was not cooperating and keeping his legs crossed for the entire ultrasound. I think the tech was just about ready to give up and then he uncrossed his legs for us to get a peek! He is most definitely all boy! :thumbsup2 At the scan we measured great and looked healthy. The tech noticed that he had whats called a choroid plexus cyst in his brain. The Dr assured us that this is nothing to be concerned about, will go away with time, and does not affect his brain development. Everything we could research online when we got home said the same thing. The Dr was adamant that since my genetic screens were all negative and all his other measurements were normal and healthy, that we have nothing to worry about. However, she is recommending that I do a Level II ultrasound with the MFM (maternal-fetal medicine) unit from the hospital. I will have to have another one around 28 weeks as well. She related it to when you have a headache, the Dr still recommends you have an MRI. I guess it's just the standard protocol.
We went and registered after our appt... talk about an exhausting process! And there's still stuff I need to research and add!

Congratulations on your son on the way!!! How funny that babies just seem to love to cross their legs during the gender determining ultrasounds for some reason. Our little princess took her sweet time uncrossing hers as well LOL.

It sounds like the doctor is just taking all precautions, which seems like a good thing to me. Better safe and knowledgable, I say. And you'll get some extra chances to get a glimpse at your baby, which is wonderful.

Congrats on your baby boy!! :goodvibes

Its never a bad thing to do your research. I'm glad your doctor is being proactive just to be safe.

Ladies, I'm a bit of a worrier, so please help me know if my fear is rational or not LOL.

Today at work I got stuck in the elevator. The door was still open a bit, and my other coworkers insisted I squeeze through the opening. It was a tight squeeze, which hurt a bit, but I got through pretty quickly. I'm assuming that the baby is totally protected between my tummy fat, the uterus, etc. Is that true? Should I call my doctor? I don't want to be that crazy pregnant lady, since I'm guessing this isn't a big deal.

Congratulations on your little boy! Your doctor (and your research) is absolutely correct that the cyst should resolve on it's own and likely means nothing, but I'm glad you're getting another scan to be reassured!

You're TOTALLY fine! :) I'm a worrier too, but you are absolutely right that the baby has those layers and more (honestly, the amniotic sac is such a great protectant by itself despite seeming fragile) protecting her. Our bodies sustain much, much worse than tight squeezes and babies remain fine. We're built to protect them!

I had my 8 week scan today (8w3d, if we're counting) and all is still right on track. Measuring to the day, heartbeat square in the middle of where it should be! I'm waiting on the official call, but should be transferred to my OBGYN now. That's exciting of course, but kind of bittersweet - no more weekly scans! ;)

Hey yall,

Finally got that follow up appointment, and my OB says my cervix feels exactly like it should, the discharge has stopped completely and the dr. is optimistic. The cramping is still there but he said as long as there is no bright red blood with the cramping I shouldn't worry. I'm schedule for a u/s in 2 weeks to see the heartbeat.

It was really hard to get in with my OB (or any OB in all of Orlando to tell you the truth) but today reassured me that he is a good fit for me personally. As long as it isn't an emergency he works well with the kind of person I am.

I'm so glad you were able to fit in! I had a lot of cramping over weeks, no spotting but they told me the cramps were normal so I tried not to worry too much.

I had my 12 week appointment today, they changed my due date from April 1 to March 26th. That makes me happy because we are that much closer to finding out the gender!

We weren't able to hear the heartbeat but the doctor got out this mini office ultrasound machine and she was able to see the heartbeat so she wasn't worried.

I think we are going to plan a gender reveal party with our family. I think it would be a fun way to announce to everyone. Has anyone else done this before?

We didn't know what we were having, but one thing I have been seeing at gender reveal parties is EVERYONE finding out the gender when the cake is cut. Meaning, you go for the u/s have the tech write it on a paper and seal it in an envelope. You take it to a bakery and tell them to open the sealed envelope and pink inner icing for a girl, blue for a boy (even you won't know). So when you cut into the cake EVERYONE finds out at once! I thought it was a really cute idea when I read about it.

Ask people to wear the color of the gender that they think the baby is. Blue for boy and pink for girl. It makes for cute pictures. You take a picture with each group.
