talulabelle - welcome and congrats on your little surprise! :goodvibes

cmskok - sounds like you had a great trip and baby shower!

kpm - I am so much more uncomfortable with this pregnancy too, it's ridiculous. My lower back is just killing me by the end of the day most days.

Piecey - I hope you got your test results back. How did your u/s go?

Leger - glad to hear everything is going well and he's still a boy! I had my GD test at 28 weeks with this pregnancy and 26 weeks with the first.

wdworbust - my last OB's office scheduled appts way ahead like that, but this office doesn't and I kind of miss it. I like planning ahead.

sunlover -
A couple of questions since my last child was almost 8 years ago!

1.) When did your doc start doing internal exams? I just want to be prepared.
not yet with this pregnancy, do they do it for RCS? Last pregnancy was at 36 weeks.

2.) When did you start going every 2 weeks?
at 30 weeks, so I had an appt at 28 weeks and again at 30, which will continue until 36 weeks, when they will become weekly.

We finally started to get some work done in the nursery today. My sister started painting it about a month ago, but still isn't done yet, so we decided to put the furniture up anyway and have her work around it. I also went through DS's baby clothes and pulled out some of the neutral stuff to wash for DD. He had so many cute things - almost makes me wish we were having another boy. :cool2:

My lower back is just killing me the last few days by the end of the day. Some days DH will give me a massage, which helps some but not enough. Does anyone have any suggestions for help with lower back pain?

I don't think they do it for RCS. My OB hasn't checked me anyway. :)

Ultrasound was good. I forgot to take the order so the radiology receptionist was really cranky with me, haha. They only measured fluid- still high, but a bit lower.

Owen looks great on all the NSTs, we're still scheduled for 8/26.

I have soooooo much to do!! :scared:

Hi Ladies! I hope you don't mind if I join you on here. I just got a BFP (well 4 actually lol) yesterday! We have been trying for a year for our first baby and finally got a positive test yesterday! I don't go to the doctor until Aug 24, but according to the online calculators my EDD is April 14, 2011. Thanks for letting me share and I can't wait to meet everyone! :)

Hi Ladies. I got tired of my old user name and since I couldn't change it I've created a new account. My old user name was Temair, but I haven't used that name in several years. So its back to earning my ears.

Congrats Talulabelle and SoccerPrincess! Soccer, I'm pregnant with my first too, so we can be first-timers together. I'm due February 5, 2011.

Everything is going pretty good with me right now. My next appointment isn't until 9/3 when I'll be 18 weeks along. I guess I'll probably get another script for an ultrasound then. That will be exciting, but I don't want to find out the baby's sex. My DH kind of wants to find out at the ultrasound, but he said that's it's up to me. I think I want to be surprised at the birth.

I do have a new and very annoying symptom -- everything is making me gag. I didn't really have any morning sickness and never vomited, but now I can't even brush my teeth wihtout gagging. Yesterday I gagged when looking at a dirty dish, the greasy stovetop, when emptying the bathroom garbage can, when feeding the cat dry cat food! And that isn't even the whole list! I hope this stops soon.

Oh my. I get the same way and i have been starting with it already. It is because of the pregnancy hormones increasing in your system. "morning sickness" can be at any time of day really.

Congrats to the new mommies to be!!! These last few weeks have been so strange. At 34 weeks, my fluid was on the lower end of normal so I thought sure I would be on bedrest and/or induced early. I drank tons and tons of water and so far the fluid level is fine. Then at 36 weeks the baby flipped to breech so I thought I would be heading for a c-section. By 37 weeks he was back to head down. Yesterday, I thought I was leaking amniotic fluid, but it's not. Seriously, after all of these ups and downs I feel like I am never going to have this baby now!! Our hospital does not allow elective induction before 41 weeks....UGH!!! I took DD to the zoo this morning and walked for 2 hrs.....I'm 39 weeks on Sunday so we'll see.....another Dr appt on Tues....so far I am only 1 cm :(

Welcome to the newcomers, and congratulations! :cheer2:

Talulabelle - we are in very similar situation - except I'm only on my 3rd, not my 5th! This was a total surprise for us, and our youngest is 8 and going into 3rd grade. God does have a great sense of humor :). I think your decision to focus on the fun stuff is great - it doesn't help anyway to think about the rest of it! I went through the same thought process. Now that I'm this far into it, I'm really excited, although I have occasional lapses into "Oh my goodness, I have to think about THAT again?" Like yesterday when I scheduled dentist appointments for myself & the kids all at the same time in 6 months - totally not thinking about needing a babysitter! Oops.

kpm - what a roller coaster! Glad the baby has flipped back, though. Those last few weeks are so miserable - I hope you don't have to wait all the way to 41 weeks. Can you imagine how it was before - my mom went 4 weeks overdue with all 3 of us! Miserable. Good luck!

I know! My dad was due in late August and arrived on October 2nd :scared1: He was well over 10lbs. My grandmother went on to have 7 more after him.....I guess after birthing a toddler, the other 7 were a breeze??

Thanks everyone for the responses. I'm guessing I'll go every 2 weeks after my 30 week appt on Monday. UGH! I don't want to go every 2 weeks. He is always running late. On the bright side, I guess that means I'm getting closer. 70 days to go!

So, it has been in the 90's all week and very humid. I'm hating this summer and just want it to be over already. Not to mention, I get to work this morning and the power was out for the last 2 hours. It was hot in here and I was ready to just go home when it turned back on. Someone was stuck in the elevator for 2 hours, poor guy. I would have freaked if that was me. I think I'll be taking the stairs from now on.

If this heat would go away, I'd be a happy camper. I can't even go for a walk at night, it is that miserable outside w/ millions of mosquitos.

Ok, enough complaining. At least it's Friday! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I just found out recently that I am VERY UNEXPECTEDLY pregnant with my FIFTH child!!!!!

It has been so long since my last pregnancy, a lot of tests have changed and I haven't even thought about any of this stuff for so long. I will be reading this thread and relearning everything!

Congrats on your surprise! Just think about how much your other kids will be big helpers.

My DD is 7, 8 by the time the baby is due so I hear you. So far I haven't found anything to be different except my "advanced maternal age" extra tests. Although, I'm going to the same doctor so that could be why everything seems the same to me.

I also went through DS's baby clothes and pulled out some of the neutral stuff to wash for DD. He had so many cute things - almost makes me wish we were having another boy. :cool2:

I felt the same way going through DD's clothes. I found some unisex clothes, but not much. I can't believe how much pink she had. Now, she is over pink and won't buy anything pink.

Owen looks great on all the NSTs, we're still scheduled for 8/26.

I have soooooo much to do!! :scared:

Wow! That is 2 weeks away!

UGH! That's no fun. Hope you feel better. I started to feel better around week 13.

You are so close! How exciting!

Wow! That is 2 weeks away!

Please don't remind me! :rotfl:

The biweekly NSTs are KILLING me. I am so exhausted by the time I get home that the day is done for. :sad2:

I was all super motivated (nesting?) today and vowed that I would get things accomplished. Well, DS fell and split his tongue open (BAD!) and had blood going EVERYWHERE. I called the pediatrician's office because I didn't think he needed medical care but with it being a Friday (and them closing at noon) I wanted to make sure. They told me to go get him a slushie. Apparently the cold would stop the bleeding. And it did. And he loved it, except I'm fairly certain he gave himself a brain freeze. :lmao:

Getting to him after he fell, and cuddling with him after, wore me out. I don't think I've moved that fast in months. ;)

So yea not much got accomplished today either. Even worse, the pile of clean clothes for Owen was the closest thing to us so that is what I grabbed to sop up the blood. So, yeah, can we say... lots of time needed now to stain treat those? :headache:

Ahhh.... never a dull day. :goodvibes

I struggle with brushing my teeth every time! It's very annoying. I haven't actually thrown up since earlier in the pregnancy, but I still have to fight each and every time. Also, normally, if the dogs get sick I'm the one with the strong stomach...it never used to bother me so I'd always take care of it. Well, one dog got sick earlier this week and I cleaned it, but it made me gag. As I was telling DH about it and I kept thinking about it, I had to run to the bathroom to throw up.

PIECEY: You are so close!! I had to do the NSTs with my DS due to my PIH. It does wear you down having to go to the doctor so often! Your poor DS! The tongue bleeds so much, too! I hope he is feeling okay.

I do have a question...DS arrived 4 weeks early and we weren't prepared for that so we hadn't even picked a pediatrician yet. I loved the on call ped so that's who we went with. Do I eventually need to call our ped and let her know that I'm expecting again? Or do we just see the person on call?

When I had my DD via c-section they also did the clear liquid diet, till I was up and moving around. I very quickly got up and moving, just so I could eat real food. When I did the hospital tour they said they no longer do that and I would be getting a regular lunch after my 7:30 am c-section. Only thing is the food sucks at the hospital, but I don't plan on staying long enough to have to enjoy more than a few meals of it.

We had to "apply" to get into our pediatrician. He's one of the ones that most people want or something, I guess. I don't know, I just chose him because he was in-network and my OB said that was where she took her kids- which was good enough for me.
Anywho- because I know that you normally have to apply I asked and they said they always take siblings, no questions. They did give me a form of our info and medical history that I have to fill out again to put in Owen's chart, though. I might want to find that form... :rolleyes1

So for some reason when I open the link to the thread it takes me back to the very first few pages. It's totally messing me up. Anyone know how I can fix that?

I just realized I didn't post about my 34 week appointment. I saw the Dr this past Tuesday and all is still looking good. I had had a lot of contractions last week so the Dr checked me and I'm still tightly closed with no signs of dilation. My Dr doesn't think I will go into labor before 39 weeks 1 day, when I'm scheduled for my RCS. I'm still measuring big, but the Dr isn't to concerned, just expecting at least a 9 lb baby on my c-section date. They went ahead and scheduled my remaining 4 appointments. I go in 2 weeks, and weekly after that. I admit I'm starting to get to the point that I'm ready to have this baby. I'm exhausted, and sore all the time. This baby is much lower than my DD was. At least I don't have the kicking in the ribs all the time, but the pressure on my hips. Only 4 weeks and 5 days, or 33 days till Daniel will join us. I'm still waiting on my friend to set a date for the baby shower. She's running out of time. I've got the nursery all set and ready for the baby. I also installed the car seat base in my car so I feel like I'm ready to go. About the only thing left on my list is to get my DD's birthday party planned. Her B-day is the 24th, but we will have the party on Oct 2nd so I have a few more days to recover and my Parents will be down to help out. My Mom is great about cleaning and I'm going to let her get the house ready for the party.

So all in all, life is good.

I've been reading this thread since I was about 7 weeks along, but was hesitant to post. I finally decided to join the ladies here. I'm due February 10, 2011. This is also my first pregnancy and child.

I'm trying to stay positive and not think about all the things that could go wrong (even though my husband currently has shingles!!). Please keep your fingers crossed I don't get it too!

Piecey - wow, less than 2 weeks left now! So you haven't had any internal exams this pregnancy? Sorry your DS fell and split his tongue - ouch! Poor little guy, I hope he's doing better.

Soccer Princess - congratulations and welcome! :goodvibes

Joanne - welcome back with your "new" name! Now you did have an internal exam, but because you were having contractions, is that right? I'm so with you on being more uncomfortable with the 2nd pregnancy. I don't remember ever having so much back pain or swelling with the first, but it was also January in Chicago vs Phoenix in August - slight climate change. :rotfl:

lspst8 - I had some problems with gagging in my 1st pregnancy, mostly during the 2nd trimester when I had a sinus infection - it was so annoying and gross!

kpm - at least you can keep telling yourself it won't be more than 2 weeks - hang in there!

skuttle - I actually had the same question. I kind of assumed we would use DS's pediatrician office, but was hoping to use another dr we saw one night with DS who was on call, and I wasn't sure how to go about that. I don't really remember what I did with DS.....

DIS B - congrats and welcome! I hope you don't get shingles!

********************

I went to a neighbor's last night and stayed out too late, now I'm paying for it today. I was standing up too long, and my lower back is killing me and my feet/ankles are swollen. :sad2: Thankfully, my mom came over and picked DS up around noon, so I've actually been able to get some rest with my feet up for a change. Tomorrow she and my sister are coming over to hopefully finish painting the nursery. :woohoo:

For my DD I just used the on call Pedi at delivery time and I loved her, she was great. But she moved to a different office out of network after a few years. We now use a Family Physician. I will use the on call Pedi for delivery and use my Dr once we are out of the hospital.

Just the one where I was having contractions 1-2 minutes apart around 35 weeks. I was 4cm dilated but haven't been checked since then.
