Hi there! I'm Lauren (28). My husband and I have been ttc for about 9 months. I just saw the glorious double lines on 5 home pregnancy tests this morning! :goodvibes
Obviously I haven't been able to have this confirmed by my doctor yet, but I will be making an appointment tomorrow. I had to share this news with someone besides my husband and we don't want to tell family and friends until we know for sure and it's a bit 'safer'.
Based on a due date calculator, we should be welcoming a little one around June 28..... We are obviously SUPER excited! :dance3:

Congratulations and welcome!!!! :goodvibes

Thanks for everyone's tips on the bumper pad. I'm thinking it is a good idea but am nervous that as she starts to roll over she will smush her face against it. man, I'm a worrier! haha

sbell, I would love to see pics of your nursery! We couldn't find a Mickey theme that we were crazy about, so we went with dragons instead. Starlight Mickey sounds so cute!
Unfortunately, the nursery looks like a combat zone right now. It was completely ready (except for Cathy's glider which just came in and is now still in the boxes in the back of my Jeep). Unfortunately, we sorted out the baby shower gifts in there and now it's a wreck.

Like many people in this thread, we went with Baby Cache Heritage furniture.

This is a not so great pic of the Starlight Mickey set, except our bumper is straight all the way around, since we got a convertible crib.

I'll try to get pics of our nursery without the mess in the next few days.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!
I was wondering if you all would mind telling me what I should expect at my first doctor's visit.
This is my first pregnancy and we aren't telling family and friends yet, but I have sooooooooo many questions!
Any insight you all could share would be greatly appreciated! :)

Well, my very first visit was just to get the pregnancy confirmed. A few weeks after that I had a meeting with a nurse to go over paperwork and to get a lot of information :goodvibes The first actual meeting with the doctor I got weighed so they would have a starting point, blood pressure and urine check and then they did an internal exam making sure that everything looked good. Just checked over all health and answered any questions I had. I go every 4 weeks for a tummy check and to hear the heartbeat. Good stuff!! Congrats again!!! :goodvibes

Well,l I have found the bedding we are getting for Elliott's room, now I just need to order it! It is the Forest Friends line from Carters. It is adorable!!!

Also, found a great deal on a Chicco stroller that was clearanced out because the fabic was discountinued!!

BabyTigger-Which chicco stroller/fabric? We were given a chicco keyfit that is nearly new, and we know its history (i.e. we can be 100% confident it wasn't in a wreck, etc.) and it is in perfect condition. Now we just need a matching stroller!

Thanks for the info! I am one of those people that loves to be prepared, and books will only tell you so much.
Thanks again! :goodvibes

Aurora - My SIL has the Chicco Keyfit and likes it a lot. Her only gripe was the price of getting a 2nd base for it.

Lauren - When do you go for your first visit? With my 1st kid and this one, I had med students see me first, take my history, all that stuff (likely cause my first appt with both was over the summer, when the new med students start), then the dr came in and did his thing, which was different both times. With my middle child (which sounds so weird for me to say!), I only saw the dr, super brief visit where really nothing went on. Interestingly , I never had any sort of blood or urine test or ultrasound to confirm I was pregnant with any of my pregnancies.

Tigger - I LOVE that nursery set and that was the one I was looking at had this baby been a boy. I actually still really like it anyway, but my husband and daughter don't think it's very girly. We won't be buying a bedding set till we move anyway, which won't be till this baby is about 6 months old, so I guess I have time to think.

I was so miserably sick this weekend. I really thought I had the flu, but now I think it was just a bad cold. I started feeling congested and ill Friday morning, but then it got much worse by that night and Saturday I was terrible, fever and all that. My husband had to work from 3pm Friday-8am Saturday, but then he took over kid duty (which included a birthday party) and I napped much of the day. That must have helped cause by 6pm I felt decently better and was able to go to the Boo at the Zoo event that we had tickets for. It rained a lot of the day so we were going to skip it, but then right around 5:45 the sun came out (started at 5:30) so since we only live a block from the zoo we decided to head out there. The kids loved it and since we never made it to a pumpkin patch this year I really didn't want to skip it if possible.

Yesterday I was on my own again and we had 2 birthday parties and the school book fair. Needless to say, today I will be resting cause I still have the congestion and a nice cough to go along with it and the weekend was pretty tiring.

ETA: At one of those birthday parties yesterday, they had a pinata. The kids were hitting it with bats for a solid 10 minutes and not one crack on the litle donkey. My kids were getting their faces painted so we joined the pinata line late, and the mom asked who hadn't had a turn yet. My son raised his hand and she handed him the bat. The kid took 1 swing, with just one hand, and the pinata broke. Since he routinely breaks things that he shouldn't (accidentally, usually, like our coat rack just yesterday morning) he froze and stood there with his mouth open in shock. All these parents said things like "Wow, I can't believe your son broke it, he's one of the smallest kids here!" And I thought, "No, I am not surprised, he breaks anything he comes in contact with, this pinata was nothing to him!"

My doctor's appointment is November 9. I was amazed that was the earliest appointment I could get at the doctor I wanted to see. I have since learned that it's not that late... I'm not so much worried about them 'confirming' the pregnancy, because I KNOW I'm pregnant. I'm just more worried about exactly what they'll be doing, what they need from me and what kind of questions I should ask. I am a planner and a worrier by nature, so I apologize in advance for the many questions I'll be asking.

Lauren - Did they ask you when your LMP was when they made your appt? My dr doesn't typically see women prior to 8 weeks so maybe that's why your appt is 11/9?

Then again, with this baby, they did not even ask when my LMP was, I called at the very end of May and the appt I was given was July 6th. They then later cancelled that appt and tried to reschedule me for August, but I protested and they 'found' an appt for July 20th or somewhere around there. Still, I was never asked for my LMP, so for all they knew I could have been 20 weeks and missed out on critical early testing. I was annoyed to say the least, but since it's kid #3 I actually knew what testing I needed and when and just scheduled all that on my own so it was all fine.

Oh, something I forgot about, I did get lab slips at, I think, all of my 1st appts for various screenings/genetic tests. I know they did blood type, rh factor, cystic fibrosis, and some other stuff that I don't remember at the moment. I didn't have to get it done immediately, but with at least 1 kid I believe I went to the lab that day. This time I did not as I had to pick up my son from camp by the time I was done with the actual appt.

Isabel is here!

Born 10/16/09 at 12:13pm, weighed in at 7lbs 9oz’s, 20.5 inches long.

I will update with pictures and the story either later tonight or tomorrow. . .

Had a spinal tap headache (the pain was worse from that than my contractions were) and FINALLY started feeling better last night (after I got my second blood patch) - that's why I haven't updated yet. . . I have to go ack and catch up on how everyone is doing too!

Ooh! That happened to me too. I'm glad you are finally better. Congratulations and welcome to Isabel! I can't wait to see her and hear all about her arrival.

Congrats girl! I am so happy for you  Sorry about the spinal tap headache, that doesn't sound good. Glad you're feeling better though.

Can't wait to see pics & hear your birth story!

Long time lurker/first time poster here. I'm 35 weeks preggers and have a c-section scheduled for Nov. 25th (yes, the day before Thanksgiving, but that's a whole nother story). My baby seems to be getting the hiccups a whole lot lately. I was wondering if any other moms to be are experiencing this?

Hi Chloe and welcome! My baby gets the hiccups all the time, more than my other two ever did, at least from what I can remember.

How has your pregnancy gone so far? Is this your first baby?

So my husband came home early from work this morning. Sort of startling as he wasn't supposed to be home till 8:30am and it was 7am when I heard noises in the house, and oddly enough both kids were still sleeping. Anyway, turns out he was sporting a nice fever of 103. He's mildly better now, and Tylenol got it down to 101, but really, it better be whatever bug I had over the weekend and not something new, like H1N1, cause I am so not in the mood to be sick again. I go to my OB this afternoon so hopefully I can get the H1N1 vaccine there. Then I can just wait in line for it for the kids Saturday morning. My stupid husband *has* to get the flu shot, seasonal and swine (when that is available to healthcare workers) or he can't go to work. Well, he hasn't gotten it yet (they have till the 31st) and now he either has the flu, or won't be able to get the shot cause he's sick. And we leave for WDW next Friday morning.

Oh no! Here's hoping it's just a virus and not either of the dreaded ones. I was pretty sure I had the flu last month, but it wasn't. So it can happen. Think good thoughts and I will think some for you too!:goodvibes

This is my second baby. Pregnancy has been really good except for the unbareable rib pain lately. I would say I'm ready to be done with it except our nursery is still not finished.:scared1: Maybe someday it will be done.:sad2:

My DS6 had a 103 fever and cough this week. Half of his school has it. Some are saying it's H1N1 but nobody really knows for sure because the doctors around here aren't even seeing the kids. They are just telling parents it's problably the flu and stay home and give the kids Tylenol/Motrin. If they are still sick in 3 or 4 days or have trouble breathing then call back.:sad2: It would be nice to know for sure, but I didn't really want to sit in a room full of sick kids either.
