I'm popping in late, but baby Matthew arrived on August 13th via C-section! We just came home yesterday. He's a great baby and I'm trying to remember how to have a newborn! It's been a long time. Big sister is almost six!

Congratulations!! And I know what you mean. Just two weeks ago, my "baby" was 5. It's amazing how much I forgot in 5 years.

Thanks guys! Our first night home was last night and it made me remember why it took so long to be ready for another baby. :lmao:

Congrats Fin and welcome baby Matthew...glad to hear you are all well!!!

Maggie - Yep, that was our ship! The other Nick cruise was I think the last week of July out of southern CA. We left from Florida. Did your friends enjoy the cruise? We liked it, and most importantly my kids did as it was their gift. I will say I missed some DCL things (like RCCL charges for beach towels not returned, there wasn't the order/structure Disney has, the people weren't as friendly, etc.) but overall it was nice, and the ship was great, had so much stuff to do.

Linzybrooke - Those photos are perfect! They are really clear, great images of your little guy, and he's already a cutie!

The estimated weight, I don't know what it is at 26 weeks, but I had an ultrasound at 35 weeks with my son and the tech told me his weight was +/- 1 pound. So I wouldn't be too concerned if it seems a bit high at 26 weeks because there's definitely some leeway in either direction so your little guy is likely right on target.

I am so nervous about this stupid shot, not just the pain I hear about, but if it's gonna make me sicker. I realized that one thing that may have helped me feel better last week was going to bed so early. I had 1 of my kids in my room each night (they alternated with my mom's room) and I tried to keep them on a somewhat regular schedule so they were asleep by 9pm, which meant I had to at least sit in the room by then, so I was asleep I guess before 10pm each night. So I think I'll head to bed now and see if that helps. I'm not feeling great at the moment, but at least it's an improvement from where I was 10 days ago so I'll take it!

ETA: I forgot to post I am yet again annoyed at my husband's schedule. He made the August schedule so it was perfect, his co-chief is doing September (and October, but my husband's doing a peds rotation then so it won't affect us). He told him specific days he needed to be off, actually, just 1 day. September 12th is my son's birthday party, so he asked to not be on call then. I check the schedule today to see when I should book my level II ultrasound so that he can come too and I see that he's overnight on September 11th, doing OB no less, so he'll get home on the 12th and likely be exhausted from the pregnant women keeping him up with epis all night. I am so infuriated cause that is the ONLY day we needed free and he's not. Well, technically he will be home that morning, but working overnight was NOT in the plan. It's like the guy didn't even listen to the flipping request!!

I hate managers like that...they need to understand that in jobs like this where the schedule isn't set that people have daily lives they need to attend to! I'm so sorry! And good luck with your shot!

Congrats on your new addition, Fin!

Well, the school year has started back up. We started inservice yesterday and it is already making me completely exhausted, and there aren't even any students around!

Wow, I can't believe you guys are already starting with inservice, Linzybrooke! We start so late this year because of Labor Day being later than usual, so I keep getting shoced by all the teachers I know in other areas who have started setting up their classrooms and stuff. My SIL teaches kindergarten in Louisiana and actually started with kids in the class yesterday. She just had a baby in late April and was not too happy having to leave her the past week already.

And yes, you are exactly right. We need to be able to somewhat plan out our lives, so knowing remotely in advance when we can hold birthday parties would be nice.

So my shot today wasn't too bad. It did hurt quite a bit, but hasn't been too bad since then (though I'm not telling my husband that!! I told him I am owed big time for getting 21 shots to carry *his* child safely ;) ). I also had to get 6 vials of blood drawn for just all that generic prenatal testing. What kills me about that is that I had some of those tests done with my 1st child, but the office used paper back then, now they are electronic. So they manually scanned in all my old files, but somehow lost the blood draw orders, so the OB I saw last month ( who was not my regular one) ordered them all over 'just to be safe'. Thing is, one was for cystic fibrosis. I know I had that test done in September 2003 and I know 100% I was negative for the gene, because had it been positive my husband would have needed to be tested and the OB said I was fine so we didn't need to test him. Another was for Rh factor, which I know I am Rh +, so another waste of my blood. It wasn't a huge deal, but after getting the shot, the last thing I felt like doing was giving more vials of blood than necessary. That and I'm just tired and whiny today so I am complaining more than normal! ;)

My son did not nap today and has therefore been particularly ornery, so it's time to get him ready for bed. My husband is bathing him so I need to get upstairs before he's done and thinks he can come back down to play.

justhat - so sorry they took so much extra blood. Thankfully I don't have issues with needles. . . I give blood and get shots (like Rhogam) like a champ. It would have been EXTRA horrible when I had my fight with cancer if I had needle issues. Hopefully the shots help, even if they hurt! Hope your day gets better!! Did going to bed early help you not have to much nausea??

Actually, I have to confess I ended up not going to bed when I planned. I got caught up in this field trip stuff (I'm organizing the field trips for my daughter's class this year) and did not realize the time till it was late and I was annoyed with myself. Tonight, however, will be different!! Or so I say. I am sooooo bad about going to bed early, though I know I am going to be tired in the morning.

Adi, I can only imagine the torture you would have gone through had you had a fear of needles with chemo. My mom had breast cancer and was like a pin cushion by the end of her treatment. Luckily, she too has no issue with them. Normally I am not so babyish, I routinely donate blood (and I am slow to bleed, so it takes me a good 45 minutes), but everyone kept telling me that this shot is in oil, it's thick, burns, goes into muscle, etc. Which was true, but all it did was build up anxiety in me. And it did burn, but it's fine now and I really don't feel any more nauseous than usual (another thing people said would happen) so the fear was really all for nothing. I still want to be numbed next time though!

When is your 3D ultrasound? It must be coming up so I bet you guys are excited!

Hi guys,I am 21 weeks now.I am finally feeling better from the broncitis/pnumonia which is good because I am leaving for disney next wed.I have been feeling some contractions already which are starting to worry me because with my dd I started with pre term labor at 28 weeks. They are usually painless and quick and don't last very long which I know are fine-my doc says if they come regularly then to call to be checked(with dd they were every 2 min and were for hours before the shots at the hospital stopped them)Today they are a little more painful but I know I didn't drink enough today and it is 90 degrees here and I was out shopping half the day so I am drinking alot of water now.My challange when I go away will be to stay very hydrated(with dd all they kept telling me was to drink, drink)My back has been killing me-he is sitting very low in my belly and he is already pushing and kicking me.Everytime sit or lay on my side he pushes on me!I thought boys had less attitude!I am going to go make dinner-shrimp scampi cause I have been craving shrimp and I don't eat seafood normally so my husband has been in heaven that I have been making shrimp lately.

Justhat, sorry you had to have all the blood draws again! I was really glad when my doc told me I didn't need to shot, for exactly the reason you said. I had heard such bad things I had psyched myself up about it.

Adi, I really can't believe how close to the top of the list we are! I'm a bit freaked out...

Pooh, good luck with your trip! I thought I would have a hard time drinking water when we went last month, but it was not that bad! Actually, I ate A LOT of ice chips, because all the counter-service places would give me a big cup of ice for free. Really helped with the heat and helped me get all that water in. I hope you guys have a wonderful time! Mmmm...shrimp scampi...

I still lurk :rotfl:

They tested me for Rh factor, even though I knew I was negative (and I was born at the hospital where I got my lab work done, too, so they had it in their records for sure!) I had to be tested to "appease the insurance company"
They tested me again when they admitted me before they gave me the second Rhogam injection... said it was a "cover their butt" type of thing.
So probably along the same lines... covering their butts. :)

Friday :) I am super excited to see her!! Especially after she scared me on Saturday by not moving almost at all. . . . she's been active again this week though.

Adi, I really can't believe how close to the top of the list we are! I'm a bit freaked out...
It is INSANE!! I feel like I JUST joined the thread, and there we are almost at the top, eek!! We are sooo not ready, we haven't even found a house yet!!! We need SERIOUS prayers for that!

ETA: I went back and found my first post, on page 17, when I was almost 14 weeks pg (doesn't seem like 18 weeks have gone by!!): http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=31362121&postcount=241

:surfweb:I still lurk too ...just checking up on how everyone is feeling!!!!
Hang in there girls.

Well i had a drs apt yesterday- still no progression. Jake has less than 4 weeks to make an appearance. She said she would induce me in 3 if I wanted.

We finished the nursery last night (for the most part) and it looks so cute. We ordered boutique bedding and finally got the order in. Ill have to take pictures to show you guys.

Skylarr & Yellowfish... how are things going? Looks like we are next!

Just got back from my doctors appointment for the week. I haven't made any progress since last week but I am still 100% effaced and 1 centimeter. I have been having contractions all morning but nothing that really indicates labor is near. Doc said he would strip my membranes at my appointment on Monday to help get things going so hopefully Landon will be here Monday or Tuesday if he doesn't decide to make an appearance before that.

The waiting is killing me, lol!!!

Patsy - I'm sure you're right, about covering themselves. My husband said you can actually change blood types and Rh factors, but only in the event of transfusions or things like bone marrow transplants. I didn't have either of those so it seems silly, but oh well.

And lurk away! As you know, I sometimes lurk on the new moms thread even though I still have awhile to go. I figure I may as well prepare myself for all those things I've forgotten in 3 years!

Skylarr - That's great that your dr is willing to get things moving so early. My SIL's dr won't touch you before your due date if it's the 1st baby. In fact, for her 3rd baby he wouldn't do anything till she was 39 weeks! She really wanted that one induced because her oldest was making her communion 3 days after her due date and she had to go to that, obviously, and was so afraid of being in the hospital or something.

Adi - Can't wait to see the photos from your ultrasound! I hated it when my kids were quiet for awhile too, it really scares you! Oh, and Madison wore her shirt on our trip last week so she could show all her friends in the kids club that she's going to be the biggest sister. I have some new, better photos, just need to upload them. I'll see if I can get my husband to do it tonight, otherwise I'll just do it on the other computer that I know will work.

Poohdrmr - How many weeks were you when your daughter was born again? I started feeling contractions at 16 weeks with my 1st 2, but with this one they started last week, so 14 weeks. My dr wasn't concerned about it with the 1st 2 kids and when I told the nurse who did my shot yesterday she wasn't concerned at all either. It does sort of concern me because of my son being early and the chances of this one following the trend, but I guess since no medical professionals are nervous, I shouldn't be. I will say though that I was having 3-4 a day, but since getting the shot yesterday I haven't felt 1. Not sure if it's just a coincidence or if the progesterone really is relaxing my uterus. Has your dr mentioned getting progesterone shots? If not, and you think it would make you feel better, maybe ask about it.

I should go, I have about a hundred phone calls to make and have not been home all day and need to get my daughter in 30 minutes. I spent the morning at the mall, first time since I have been pregnant, so at least I know I'm feeling better as I haven't wanted to go out anywhere in months. I got my son some new shoes for school, and secretly hoped they'd make him 40 inches so he can ride Soarin' and Test Track next week, but no luck. He's 39 inches even in the shoes. He doesn't like coasters so it's really just those 2 rides I want to get him on so I'm thinking of stuffing his socks with napkins or something. We're going with my friend (from this board 3 years ago actually!) and her daughter is slightly bigger than my son so with the shoes she is 40 inches. I know my son will not be happy if he can't go on the stuff she can!
