Moms to Be Part 3

I didn't paint it myself - it came as a part of a shower gift. We love it and can't wait to make it more boyish (we are missing a bear) or girlish (a bunny) when the time comes.

I stopped at BRU today and bought something and left with a coupon booklet - had two 15% off one item coupons...

I got the CUTEST catalog in the mail today! www.onestepahead.com

Anyone have a trick on how to organize baby clothes in drawers? Are you folding by size of the label or size of the clothes?

Originally, I folded Lucas' clothes by size on the label.

I quickly figure out that won't work.
Last night he slept in Old Navy 3-6m PJs and today he's wearing a Gerber 18m onesie.

Every few weeks I go back over the clothes and compare them against each other to make sure he doesn't grow out of something before he has a change to wear it! :thumbsup2

Congrats Veronica! Gorgeous! We are naming our little boy Jacob too (And calling him Jake). He will be here soon per the order of the people left on the thread. My, my how time flies!

Yellowfish- love the nursery

I am also wondering when BRU sends the 10% for everything on your registry that didnt get bought? Does anyone know? We need to go get quite a few things (ive had 3 showers now and still missing some stuff)... and that would be mighty handy!?

I know, the list seems to have gone berzerk and I seem to be so close to the top - eek! Anyhow, I'm not sure when BRU sends the coupon, BUT i have heard that if you stop by the registry counter you can ask for it there.

Melessa - Best of luck tonight! Can't wait to see your new little one!

Adi - The shirt came today and OMG, it is adorable!!! The only thing is that Madison has not seen it yet cause it came after she was asleep. My MIL sent my son a birthday gift and it wouldn't fit in my mailbox, so the mailman gave the package and all of our mail to my neighbor, who brought it over after she put her son to bed, which, unfortunately, was after my kids were in bed too. I actually checked to see if Madison was up cause I knew she'd be so excited, but she was sleeping. I'll show her tomorrow morning as soon as she's up. I am sure she'll want something for herself since it's her brother's birthday and he'll be opening presents. I'll send out your money tomorrow-actually, if you'd prefer a check let me know cause I can do that too. I am bad with actually going to the bank but know some people actually enjoy that.

I finally finished my son's birthday cake and I think it's pretty cute. I posted a photo to my Facebook page cause there is some Disney hater on there who mocked the Disney theme cake, but it works out cause now I can share the photo here easily.

Now it's time to wrap his gifts, which I would have forgotten about had I not posted that bit about my daughter getting jealous and I would have been scrambling in the morning. Luckily for me I don't feel too bad tonight so I actually was able to do his cake and the cupcakes for camp with minimal trouble. And even though I have a sweet aversion right now, I somehow managed to choke down some cake which was probably a bad idea that will haunt me later, but so far so good.

Oh - I'm so glad you like it! Can't wait to hear what Madison thinks! (And see her in it :) )! Seems like perfect timing, with your son's birthday and all :) Henry's cake is awesome, btw! I love it! Hopefully eating some cake will not come back to haunt you! I wish I had a sweet aversion :lmao: - my aversion has been to meat.

It's great timing cause she was bitterly complaining about how Henry got a toy from mom my yesterday and she didn't. Mind you, my mom is one of those grandparents who feels that toys make up for her absence (she lives out of state) so she constantly buys them both toys. And she got my son a Mickey Mouse Christmas ornament, which she didn't know was an ornament, so really nothing to be envious of.

And the sweet thing, I had this aversion with my son too (which scares me and makes me think its another boy, not that anything is wrong with boys, but man, he's just so high energy!). Only problem is around 22 weeks or so not only did it go away, but I craved sweets big time! I remember eating a pint of ice cream for lunch one day around 34 weeks. Sad, but true. So even though I lost over 12 lbs with him in the beginning, I gained a total of 35 lbs by the time he was born, so I clearly made up for that initial aversion!

Hey, I don't know if anyone plans on using these... but I ordered this set a few weeks ago and it came today and I noticed it was still on sale. Can't remember if I posted this before or not, so I thought I'd post it for anyone who wants to take advantage.

It's a 4pk of Baby Einstein DVDs for $15.98. Free Shipping.

P.S.... Melessa had her baby this morning!

Thanks so much for sharing!! I am saving the link - if I don't get any at my showers (I registered for some) then I will order it from here - what a great price!

About the babiesrus discount on the registry...I just registered this past saturday and they told me that the discounts would go into effect 2 weeks before your due date. Not sure if it's the same for all babiesrus's thought. Hope that helps!

I got my 10% off coupon from BRU about a month and a half before my due date. They sent it to me through the mail...don't know if that is how all BRU do it though :confused3

Veronica-- Congrats!! He is adorable!! You'll heal faster than you think...I was pleasantly surprised about all that.

(I got my BRU coupon 2 weeks, and 2 days before my due date).

An idea - you can put your due date as whatever you want when you log-in to your registry - maybe you can move your date up in order to get the coupon sooner. Or like I said - you could ask in the store about it :)

I love your room, my sister in law is pregnant and is due in November and that is their theme and bedding!

I also love that you are just like me and don't know the sex or name of the baby! It is so much fun that way buy boy does it drive people crazy!

I put my due date as June 28th and nothing :-( DH even went to the desk and they said something about 90 days after your due date because that's the return policy time frame???? I just watched for coupons and bought mostly everything. They have 15% off a single item coupons all the time so we bought our convertible carseat and saved $40, $28 off our baby monitor and an activity center for about $35 off. We just bought everything else because we couldn't wait until he's 3 months.

CONGRATS on all the new babies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How exciting. I hope everyone is feeling well and enjoying their bundles of joy.

Skylarr - I just noticed you guys are going on a cruise and it reminded me of our 1st Disney cruise cause our daughter was around the same age your son will be. The cruise was planned long before she was and her due date was 13 weeks before our sail date and I was so nervous that she'd be late and not make that 12 week cut off, but she was 2 weeks early so actually 15 weeks on the cruise. She was still the youngest cruiser though and they gave us a little certificate in Flounder's Reef.

The BRU coupon, it's been so long, I don't even remember if I got one when I had a registry there. I think waiting till 2 weeks before (or 3 months after, that's just crazy!!) stinks cause some babies are born by then and what new mom wants to trek out to BRU with a newborn to buy essential stuff you were waiting on.

The finding out what the baby is in advance, I really wanted my first to be a surprise, but my husband (and mom) were dying to find out. It was way more important for them to know than for me not to know so I caved in and we found out. With the 2nd I was sort of indifferent since he was due 6 months from my daughter's birthday, so either way he was getting all new clothes, but thought it might be a little easier to prepare our daughter if we could say 'brother' or 'sister' so when my husband again wanted to know, I was okay with it. This time around I know we're finding out, though again, I sorta didn't want to. Since we have 1 of each I figure why not be surprised, but my daughter is dying for a sister (actually, so is my son) so I think if it's not a sister, knowing in advance would be better. At first she told me she didn't want to know, but now she has changed her mind and is dying to find out and asks me nearly daily when we get to go in for those photos.

My husband's take on it is that "It's a surprise now or a surprise later. Either way you have no idea and are shocked when you find out, so why wait?" But he's generally very impatient anyway!

And a sort of funny story that I hopefully have not already told you all here, but my SIL had her 3rd kid in April. They didn't find out what any of the kids were in advance, but of course made their guesses. So they had a 7yo girl, 5yo boy, and thought #3 was another boy. Totally, 100% convinced. The entire family thought it was another boy, she had all this 'science' about the heartrate being the same as her son's, what her belly looked like, etc. The day the baby was born (by elective induction, explain that one to me, wanting the gender to be a surprise but choosing a birthdate! ;) ), the dr announces "It's a girl!" My BIL said "What!" and stood there staring in shock, motionless, while SIL was yelling at him to get the camera. He didn't even hear her, he was in such shock that it wasn't a boy. Then he actually said to SIL "You shouldn't have said it was a boy all these months!" As though that somehow made the baby into a girl! He got over the shock and is normal now, but my husband used it as his excuse as to why he needs to know in advance, so there's no wrecking the birth like his BIL.

I'm glad your little one made it on the cruise! I am so nervous about it. We had this cruise planned for so long. First we were going in May but then I would have been 24 weeks pregnant so we had to postpone to when he is born. Here's hoping he's on time!!!

Wow, I can't believe your BIL did that, lol!! I wouldn't have been too happy. Men!

My SIL was infuriated. The kicker is it's not like he likes his son better than his daughter or does more with him, so it's not like he truly cared, or should have anyway, but was so convinced it was a boy. Why, I don't know, as he was only going on guesses, but whatever.

I was the same way about our cruise and the baby's birthdate too, so so nervous. I hope it all works out (and I'm sure it will! :thumbsup2 ) like ours did. We had planned the cruise 1.5 years before the date, and got pregnant 7 months after that, and I thought "Oh great, there goes the cruise. " The backup plan was to leave her with my mom if she were 11 weeks or whatever, but my mom was not at all happy about that idea so we were very lucky it didn't come to that. Not that my mom didn't want her, but she was so nervous about being alone with the baby while we were somewhat unreachable, particularly since she knew I planned to breastfeed and wasso worried about the bottles and such. I actually considered asking m dr to induce me if I went to my due date cause we had like 6 days from there to still make it, but obviously that didn't happen. So towards the end of the 37th week make sure you start walking and all that other good stuff to get things moving on time!

My DH is/was just like yours. This is our first. I wanted to wait to find out, he didn't. He convinced me with the same logic - it is a surprise whenever we find out - be that at 20 weeks pg or when the baby gets here. I am also a planner, so he pushed that button a little and I caved. He wanted to know more than I didn't want to.

The story of your SIL/BIL is hilarious! I would be so upset at my DH too!

Alexis Erin was born at 8:36 a.m. yesterday morning (08/04/09). :lovestruc She weighed 7 lbs. and is 19 and 3/4 inches long. All my kids were born with lots of hair, but she has more than any of the rest of them. Nursing is going well when she's awake. Getting her to wake up and eat has been a little more of a challenge. But we've been working on it. Today was better. It's been easy to update FB about her from my cell phone, harder to get a good internet connection here at the hospital.

I'll write up more details about the birth when I get home where I know there is a reliable internet connection, but for now I just wanted to pass the news along to everyone. I'll also upload some pictures. But again, I want to wait until I'm using my home connection that I know will work.
