Moms to Be Part 3

I think it can go either way. i've seen both recommended --wait or get before...you never know what can happen to restrict or deny you from bfing, but the chances of that are small if you are really committed.

I bought now because I plan to pump when I go back to work. I want to give myself no excuses not to bf. I hope to be able to pump enough that DH can share with the feedings, especially when I go back to work.

I also figure since I bought a used pump, I can always resell it on Craigslist if I need to. :thumbsup2

Turns out the pump I bought had only been used 2 times! She said she just couldn't get into it. So I shouldn't have to worry too much about the non-closed system thing...hopefully. They had all the accesories at BRU except the tubes, so I have to find those somewhere...

I found my tubes by doing an internet search on Medela Pump Replacement parts. I can't remember where now or I would send you the URL. Like yours, my pump was purchased by someone who tried it out and didn't like it, so I'm not worried about the non-closed system either. I probably didn't even need to buy the tubes as the ones that came with it were clean, but it made me feel much better about things.

:thumbsup2 I did that and found a bunch of places, I just need to make sure I get the right version...

Has anyone sent their husbands/boyfriends to Daddy Boot Camp? We have this program at a local hospital here; I'm just not sure if I'd want to spend the money on that for him. They also have a type of "baby basics" that looks to be geared towards couples and looks to be the same info (it's also cheaper but the Daddy Book Camp gives a really good book...).

Just trying to see what others thought!

WOW Sarah, what a wonderful shopping trip!!!

It got dicey towards the end--walking around that long was overdoing it for me--I started having pain and cramping, which I've never had before. So we still have a bunch of the little stuff to buy, but that can wait until the 10% off all the registry stuff kicks in!

Melissa, I just wanted to say nice job on Landon's room. He is going to be one very happy little boy in there.

One of my closest friends gave me her Medela Pump In Style. I thought about getting new one anyway, but $300 is alot of money! I just (as in an hour ago) ordered new tubing and accessories from www.mybreastpump.com. They had pictures of the tubing and full descriptions of the pump so I knew I was getting the right ones. Prices were cheaper than babiesrus.com, and shipping was only $7 (for over $50 worth of stuff).

Sweet! :thumbsup2 Now I just wish I knew if I have large n-ipples or not so I knew which size cup to get...I'm thinking I need to size up from the medium that came in the accessory kit I bought...I haven't actually shoved my b-oob in it yet. :lmao:

Sorry if TMI! :scared:

BTW, I'm going to try and call Medela and get them to send me the replacement tubes for free...I'll let you know how it goes...

Can't hurt! :thumbsup2

Good job on your shopping trip, btw! I read about it however far back you posted about it. Aren't coupons great?

...I'm STILL waiting on Similac to send me something other than regular formula, like maybe some checks. They keep sending me the Early Shield stuff (in the blue can) and Lucas eats Isomil Advance Soy... c'mon, send me some checks!!

I keep getting plenty from Enfamil and the Good Start people but NOTHING from Similac.

Honestly you may not be able to tell which size you need until you actually try to use the thing a couple of times. When I started pumping with my son (with the med. shields to start) it was when my n-ipples started getting rubbed raw by the spot where the shield connected to the connector that I thought I needed a different size.

I paid for express shipping for a set of large & a set of extra large shields -- turned out I'm sort of asymetrical & did best w/ one large & 1 extra large. Would have never guessed that ahead of time. Sorry if TMI on that one!

Wow. I picked the wrong moment to pop back into the thread, huh?

Anyway, here's a video of our third ultrasound. It was taken on 6/1 when we were at 16(ish) weeks.

Let me know if it doesn't work.

I've been wondering that too. . . I have DD+ bo-obies, and think I would need XL, but dunno what to do. I still have a while to figure it out.

Guess I "over-shared" beyond the comfort level of our dad :scared1:...... sorry! :rotfl: It is one of the dangers of hangin' with the moms though. :lmao:

It has less to do with breast size than it has to do with nipple size --which can change quite a bit. If you have cute tiny little nips, you may not need any larger than a med. IF it looks you have a couple of saucers on your girls -- then you may want to order both the L & the XL to figure out what size works best for you, through trial & error.

I think it has more to do with the n*pple size thatn the breast size. I am a D cup pre-preggo and I use the medium shield that the pump came with. I am doing fine with it. The only problem I had was when my milk came in and I was engorged- that is the only time I had some rubbing.

You may need to wait until after the baby comes to see how your breasts may change.

Not cute and little at all, lol! I wonder can you measure them?? The sizes give a measurement (like 28mm to 36mm or something like that). . . do any of you kno which way to measure - top to bottom or side to side??

Hopefully you will get some soon. I am breast feeding, but keep getting formula coupons. I got nine $5 off coupons from Similac. The ready to drink stuff was on sale at Target last week for $5.49. I was able to get 9 bottles for less than $4.50! It was a great deal and I know I will probably have to supplement when I go back to work in a few weeks so hopefully the kind that I bought will agree with my little one's tummy!

You didn't really over-share. I only responded to the 'TMI' comments.

Measuring is in-exact at best. It also has to do with how far your nips stretch out once you hook up to your pump. The only way I figured it out was trial & error. I really can't think of a better way to do it. Maybe if you met w/ a LC, she could try to help you figure it out. Dunno. :confused3

Okay Mom's and Dad's to Be, We leave for the hospital in 12 hours. Reality has really sunk in now. My DH is going to bring his laptop with him. Hopefully I will be able to check in from the hospital.

Natalie is almost here. I can't wait to see her:cloud9:
