I might as well give a re intro myself! My name is Melissa and I am 25, my husband Robert is 29 and we were married in October at Disney World. We are expecting our son Landon in September. I'm a travel agent who works from home but I actually haven't really worked except for a client here or there since before the wedding and I will be a SAHM after baby comes.

Here's some photos of his nursery! All done except for what we get from the shower.

So I reached a new depth of reflux hell. Everything, I mean everything gives me terrible heartburn. My stomache is so compressed -- and I'm spending my time lying around (so I don't contract too badly) that after I eat anything I feel awful.

I go for my progesterone shot tomorrow. I've got to ask if there is anything else I can take besides mylanta & tums -- cause that's seriously not touching it. I need to eat so my babies can continue to grow for a good long while yet ........
A lto of the woman on my twin boards ended up with Zantac.. I think.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a double stroller? I need it to accommodate an infant seat and my then 14 month old. I think I would prefer a side by side, but I would also consider a tandem.

I got my blood results back, and everything looks good! I went from 2503 at 4w4d to 4779 at 4w 6d. The numbers seem high to what I've read, but I don't really have anything to compare them to. Did anybody else get their hCG levels?

I have a Graco quatro.... something or other. its not the duo glide, the cheaper one.. I needed something that would hold two infant carriers without a special attachment.. anyhow. I LOVE it. it moves so well, its not heavy to push at ALL, and folds up decently small for a gigantic double stroller. But when the twinnies get bigger, I think I am going to get a Maclaren double. I really like the single Maclarens, lots of space underneath, nice tall handles.. holds a lot of weight, which is awesome because I have huge kiddos..

What an adorable nursery! My DBIL is a pilot and I always wanted them to do their nursery like this....they did jungle animals instead.:rotfl:

I love the name you have chosen! My DS#2 is also a Landon.:goodvibes

Your nursery is GORGEOUS!! It is so original and well put together, I just love it!!

Hey - did you ever start the free childbirth classes at the MMC or check it out???

Sarah-

I used this Lansinoh pump after my DS was born.

http://www.amazon.com/Lansinoh-Doub...ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1245185393&sr=8-1

I exclusively pumped for him for 10 weeks because he had latching issues due to being tongue tied. It worked great for me. I don't reccomend getting a used pump (or at least an open system, which it what the medela is, even with new tubing for this reason:

"Most purchase pumps, for example Medela’s Pump In Styles, DoubleEase, and MiniElectric, are “open systems.” This means that the pump motor is “open” to contact with the mother’s milk particles. In a Pump In Style, for example, the breastshield (the part held against the breast) is open to the tubing that attaches to the back of the shield, which is also open to the diaphragm on the pump motor that creates the suction and release. This means that an invisible mist of milk particles can travel from the shield into the tubing and back onto the pump diaphragm. The diaphragm cannot be removed or sterilized, so it cannot be cleaned well enough between mothers to insure safety. When there are milk particles on the pump diaphragm, even with a brand new set of bottles, tubing and breastshields, with every suction and release another mother’s milk particles will be blown into your milk. Even if milk particles are not visible, they can still be there. (One sure sign is mold growing in the tubing, which sometimes happens with normal use.)"

The Lansinoh pump however is a closed system and therefor it is safe to get a used one if you replace the tubing and shields.

I use the Lansinoh pump too. :thumbsup2 It's the same as the Ameda Purely Yours; I've bought spare parts for it from http://www.amedababy.com/.

I still stalk you guys and just pray every month that I can join you but nothing yet.

Landon's nursery looks AWESOME!!

I jumped on here to respond to Patsy ...

I felt the exact same way as you do after DS was born. I could not imagine having another baby at all. There was a long period of time where I was actually scared that I would be happy with just one and he would be an only. There is nothing wrong with that but I always pictured myself with more. It was fairly unsettling and I really think it was a result of my birth experience. My best friend told me around 10 months I would start thinking about another but that time came and went and I DID NOT want another baby at all. It wasn't until he was about 18 months old that I started feeling like I would be interested in another. We started TTC then even though I wasn't completely sure about it. Now 10 cycles later and still no pregnancy I am starting to really feel ready for one. I am even sorry that I went back on BCP's rather than charting my cycles to prevent pregnancy because I feel like the BCP's might have messed my body up.

You are so young and who knows where life will take you in 5 or even 10 years. Please don't do anything permanent with either of you for a long time and just take precautions for pregnancy not to happen.

Melissa, your nursery is wonderful!!

I see the plane finally got put together ;)

I can't believe you even found airplane handles for the closet doors! Those are a perfect little touch..
Is the LMH on the Bear (which is adorable, btw) his initials?

I have a question for those of you who pumped. Did you buy your breast pump ahead of time or did you wait until after the baby was born? I don't know that I want to spend the money if I am not going to end up using it a lot but then again, I know I want to breastfeed at least while I am on maternity leave so I know I'll probably need one. Should I just wait? Or should I go ahead and get one so that I am prepared? :confused3

BTW: Melissa, Landon's nursery looks awesome! I wish I was that prepared already! I am just now starting to set stuff up for him.

I love Landon. It's funny because we kept bringing it up initially and it never stuck and then months later I brought it up again and we were like "that's it". If we have another little boy he will be Lucas.

Thank you. I did look into it. Robert signed up for Daddy bootcamp but he does not want us to have the baby there. He is just too worried about complications and really wants to be in the hospital near us. I have a doctors appointment on Thursday so I plan on talking to my doc about what I want for the birth and making sure he knows where I stand.

Thank you!!! Ah yes, the airplane! Robert still grumbles about it even now. When we were first organizing the room everything wouldn't fit and he cursed that plane for days. One day I went in and moved everything and it all fit into place! Now I think it is growing on him although I know he'll never admit it!

Yep, the LMH are his initials. I also have a matching bomber jacket for him and I can't wait to take his photo in the plane with his jacket and bear!!

Awesome, Daddy bootcamp is great - DH came home very enlightened. You can do the weekly classes there too - they cover a lot of topics and it is free :) You can start the next cycle :)

Too funny, since Lisa has a "Luca" too!... Lucas is a good name..:thumbsup2;)

I want to see that picture!!!

Tomorrow is my big day. I can't believe that in 24 hours I will be a Mom:yay: My parents are coming in and are going to stay with me for the next week. Whew, I am glad because I know I will need the help. Hope everyone is having a great day!!!!

Piecey- Hang in there. You are doing great!!!!

You may want to wait on buying a pump. My reasoning being that the pump you need will depend on how you want or need to use it.

If you are planning on pumping for a good portion of the day (8 hrs or so) when you go back to work you will need a good quality double electric pump. Generally reccomended are either the Medela Pump In Style or the Ameda Purely Yours.

If your baby ends up in the NICU and you need to induce lactation with a pump, you will need a hospital grade (rental) pump. If you find that you will be exclusively pumping (not nursing) again a hospital grade rental pump will be your best option, but some women do okay with a double electric pump after their supply is established.

If you will be nursing full time, but would like to have a pump around for the times you may want to pump some milk to have on hand if you wish to leave your baby for a short time, an inexpensive manual pump like an Advent Isis or other similar pump may be sufficient for your needs.

Confusing enough? Sorry I wrote a novel.... pumping is something I know about. :goodvibes

Has anyone sent their husbands/boyfriends to Daddy Boot Camp? We have this program at a local hospital here; I'm just not sure if I'd want to spend the money on that for him. They also have a type of "baby basics" that looks to be geared towards couples and looks to be the same info (it's also cheaper but the Daddy Book Camp gives a really good book...).

Just trying to see what others thought!

I am on prilosec otc-I was taking it before the pregnancy for reflux .Taking pepcid would not help me much.Prilosec is almost the same as nexium and he said they will put people on it if the other stuff doesn't work.It is considered safe during pregnancy so maybe you can ask about that if nothing else helps you.It is doing a pretty good job so far for me-sometimes I still need a little extra tum at night. My reflux causes me chest pains too when it gets bad so I really need medication to stop the production of the acid not just treat it after it starts.Good luck-I never had reflu till I was pregnant the first time and then it just kept getting worse as the years went by.

Oh and thank goodness I am actually not feeling sick and instead am very hungry:woohoo:I called my husband at work this morning and told him I wanted him to get me some breakfast!!He said he will be home at 7:30pm and I would have to wait till then-big help he is:laughing:I just had a big salad with some turkey.I hope it stays this way-I guess I won't be losing anymore weight:lmao:Have a great day everyone!

So the doc said to try pepcid first and if that didn't help much he could give me a RX for something -- but try the pepcid first before we bring out the big guns....

I think it can go either way. i've seen both recommended --wait or get before...you never know what can happen to restrict or deny you from bfing, but the chances of that are small if you are really committed.

I bought now because I plan to pump when I go back to work. I want to give myself no excuses not to bf. I hope to be able to pump enough that DH can share with the feedings, especially when I go back to work.

I also figure since I bought a used pump, I can always resell it on Craigslist if I need to. :thumbsup2

Turns out the pump I bought had only been used 2 times! She said she just couldn't get into it. So I shouldn't have to worry too much about the non-closed system thing...hopefully. They had all the accesories at BRU except the tubes, so I have to find those somewhere...

Okay here's my big shopping report!! We were out for 4 hours between BRU and picking up the breast pump! lol

The lady I bought the pump from threw in a new diaper genie 2 for free. Not something we had planned on getting, but it's worth trying.

Then we went to BRU and I forgot all of the stupid gift receipts!! Luckily they looked everything up on the registry and I'm pretty sure all the prices were full price--got over $200 in returns! Funny story here--they told us to just leave the stuff with them at the desk and come back up after shopping, but they had a shift change and all of our stuff ending up getting sent out to be reshelved!! So we raced around the entire store picking up stuff out of carts. I think we found everything except a pack of outlet covers...
Anyway, I asked the customer service rep how they handle the double coupons (one 15% off any item and one 15% off a specific item), and she said they just scan everything and if it works, it works. So we ended up doing 5 different transactions so I could use the 5 15% any item coupons I bought off ebay! (Aren't you proud Maggie?). Between coupons and BRU discounts we saved around $250!!

We got our travel system: regularly $239 for $144.50
they had gotten the car seat that we originally registered for back in stock (DH LOVES this carseat for some reason) regularly $199 for $119
We also got a monitor, gate, and some bedding and breast pump accesories--saved about $50 there...

I we didn't spend a cent of our own money--it was all on gift cards!! We still have a gift card with $150 left on it too! I'm so glad no one bought the big stuff and we were able to use all the gift cards and coupons like this...
Oh and the breast pump money came out of the cash we got from the showers!
Sorry for the incredibly long ramble--but it was a good night!

I am VERY proud!! I can tell you are too! Saving money is great-- and the best part was none of it was out of your pocket!:goodvibes
